Freeman isn’t the good guy. Most civil protection joined for perks, and to keep their family fed. But gordon mercilessly slaughters each one. Alyx is human enough to knock them out rather than kill them, as we never hear flatlines.
It would've been great if someone made a mod where the combine soldiers would rebel against the combine and followed you, just like with hecu soldiers in half life 1 mods
