WOOOOOWWW!!!!! What an incredible series. Normally I don't especially enjoy watching ZvZ, but that had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Game 3 will go down as the greatest ZvZ of all time. And possibly the whole series as the best ZvZ series of all time. Absolutely incredible. I'm gobsmacked.
THIS is why I watch SC2! The level of play from both of these guys is incredible. Game 3 might be the best ZvZ I’ve ever seen from a technical perspective. Also, even with everything happening in all of the games this series is, hands down, some of the best observing I’ve ever seen. I don’t know who was observing but PROPS! Being able to keep track of all the game play and then on top of that listening to the commentators to pull up relavent screens and checking upgrades and the like, super excellent. One thing I noticed around 22:22, when Todd was talking about roach burrow-maybe he was talking about micro in general but the roaches don’t regen health faster in this patch than regular Zerg regen (when burrowed) right? I havnt played star craft, but I got hooked watching it. So Im not familiar with all its rules/mechanics. 3rd game Why is it called the Last Unit? Cant they reproduce more?
@@kk.5512 They were almost out of minerals, the currency used to build buildings and units. And even if they could, it would only drag the game for 5 more minutes and the one trying to reproduce more would die regardless because the opponent would have bigger army

From 19:30 and for a minute or so the obs keeps showing us how Serral hasn't managed to scout the Lair, but the freaking Roach Warren is researching Roach speed right in front of Serral's lings. He sees it twitching! He knows that the Lair is around.
game 3 was incredible. rare toe to toe game. Serral is still the best player in the world, the only way to put him down is ZvZ, and I'm thinking it since last year. Being the most mirror match of the mirror matches, ZvZ is open to defeat for anyone, including Serral sometimes. soO is an incredible player, but Serral went the distance also vs Reynor, Scarlett and JonSnow in WCS Montreal, it's just the way the matchup is designed.

Rogue vs Serral in BlizzCon 2018 had some long, intensely close, and creative games using all tech including nydus, dropperlords, burrowed roaches. IMO better set, but Game 3 of this So0 vs Serral set was the best Roach Ravager vs Roach Ravager ZvZ of all time

The casters asked the question, "What makes Serral better than his competition?" I think it's his ability to process tactical information in real time. He understands the map more classically, like a chess player, and he values positional play. He almost never takes a bad fight and reacts well to the changing tides. I feel that's why Serral is superior to his competition, most of whom have a tendency to play like StarCraft players who are less familiar with classic strategy games. I've seen over and over again players cede the middle of the map to Serral without contest, almost as if they don't understand the significance of centralized map control. It doesn't hurt that Zerg gets creep and nydus...
Serral has never won an IEM Katowice championship, he will need to rectify that with a vengeance in 2020. Serral still has a few goals to achieve to be the undisputed GOAT, that even Serral haters have little choice but accept it begrudgingly. A GSL Code S, a IEM Katowice and it would be massive if he won another WCS global championship. (Even Though he has set a few records already with one of the longest winning streaks, 5 x back to back championships and the very first foreigner to win the WCS global final ending Korea’s reign)

Yep, I put soO on the short list of players who stand a chance against Serral. If soO has one strong thing about him, other than seemingly immortal until the finals, is his ZvZ roach play. There are so many games where he will be down in army supply, attack across the map into superior numbers and defender's advantage, and just barrel through. He wins roach v roach games where, on paper, he is "supposed to lose".

What I kinda wondered during the 3rd game was, why nobody build infestors- with one or two good fungles they'd have exposed the roaches to the revenger biles 🤔
Good point, I think if soO built infestors, the vipers would just snatch them instantly and roaches focus them down though. The fact the vipers exist uncontested makes them such a versatile support unit in that army situation

Theoretically the infestors could've also neuraled the vipers, but well, that's getting more tricky and requires also an additional upgrade. However the infestors themselves are already available just like that at this stage of the game.
Starcraft is my all time fav game besides GTA5. I played Starcraft 1 for 8 years! Played the computer mostly but I got to fighting two brutals and I’m beat. I liked creating my own battles in world editor.
Players I want to see defeat Serral are as follows. Ender Zerg player from Philippines. Polt Terran player from Korea, Bomber, CJ Hero, Jaedong and flash but it is bad that these two are now retired.
