I really enjoy the content. For me every new entrance into the WEC is hype. Since we have BOP and Ferarri showed this year what is possible even if you have not very much practice as a race team. Really looking forward for the new cars next season
I am looking forward to their driver lineup before 24 hours of Daytona in January 2024. As a Dane I hope for Denis Lind and Michelle Gatting to be included.
Gatting won’t be in the car in the first year anyway. Lamborghini are only entering one car in WEC and one in IMSA for the first year with both cars participating in the 24hr races. In WEC I would expect Kvyat and Bertolotti who are currently running in the 63 Prema LMP2 to be drivers along with another Lamborghini factory driver, I think maybe Costa to be moved over from Inter Europol as the third in that crew. I expect Grosjean to be in the IMSA car so he can continue in indycar in parallel. I wonder do they move Calderelli up from GTD Pro into the GTP car, does Pepper come with him? The Iron Dames, Gatting included, will probably just run the Lamborghini in LMGT3 for the first year, Lamborghini will want an all pro lineup in their top car if they’re only entering 1, maybe in 2025 if they double up in WEC, the iron dames May get a car, I hope so, Pink Prototype, yes please

I like it. Glad they are doing it themselves. Glad to have another car out there competing. It looks a lot like a Cadillac and I just expected more WOW factor from Lamborghini. I bet it’s parked by sunset at the 24.

Anyone notice how the cockpit is more squared off on the front and sides? It also looks a bit lower than the BMW and Porsche, maybe just the color scheme, but it looks amazing. F1 really needs to adopt a similar closed canopy and have electric AC. I love how flat the windshield is!

I think it looks cool. Seems like this series is a hit with racing fans (arguments about BoP aside.) I like that Lambo went their own way vs. following Porsche (which hasn't exactly been a screaming success.) I wonder, is the 3.8L V8 bi-Turbo a derivative of the ubiquitous 4.0L used throughout the VAG range or something bespoke?
Nice video as always! The Lamborghini LMDh project manager told in a couple of videos that they developed a special wheel that they call "aero rims" which features a series of small pierces on the rim (of course), with aerodynamics purposes. Personally I've never heard of that before, could you explain it more in the details please?

i really wonder what's the thought process behind choosing a certain chassis maker. If it were about speed, everyone would have gone with Orace, obiously.
Missed opportunity not using a Lambo V10. Their roadgoing engines should be more than powerful enough for this application, and running under BoP regulations means weight shouldn't be a concern. The only reason anyone else would avoid a V10 is cost, but Lamborghini should be able to pull engine blocks straight off the production line! Surely their in house V10 would have been a cheaper option. Given that this whole thing is a marketing exercise it's really just weird that they wouldn't use the opportunity to make more connections to Lamborghini roadcars.
@@R4M_Tommy So with that we're left with a grand total of zero V10 sportscars on the market. No more Viper, no more R8, no more Lambo. Everyone in the sports car business may as well just retire. Worse yet that's my best bet to what the big companies are thinking, electric is so much less labor intensive the cars are practically disposable.
@@budthecyborg4575 the Viper was the first sporty car to have a V10. The V10 is a relatively new and hard to balance engine for high performance applications. Even in F1 the first V10 appeared in 1989.
No way in the first year. BMW was late getting to testing comparative to everybody else and really are just now producing results. It’s July already so to be competitive in January is unlikely in my opinion. As time goes on we will see if their heart really is in GTP.

Happy to see Lambo finally giving a go to racing, but in all aspects of this, they have gone down a conservative path. The design is just as if you had made a render using another car's body with the Revuelto's light signature, the engine is predictable, they went for the safe option of the LMdH... Not the proud initiative and innovation they boast in their trailer. Toyota with their LMP1.2, Peugeot with the wingless design have gone for a bolder approach, and it seems to pay off in some ways. Except if Ligier does an exceptional job (which would be difficult since they're lagging behind everyone else), there's no reason why Lambo should do better than the other manufacturers with more experience, more budget, more innovation, more boldness, more design even (unbelievable for a Lambo), more of everything basically.
I wonder what the 63 even meant. Mercedes already uses 63 for V8s, but this is an Audi, and the engine isn't 6.3L, it's only 3.8L. So I'm with you wondering what the 63 is for.
Last time Lamborghini was in F1, F1 was far from getting rid of V12s, which Lamborghini had, at the back of the grid, on fire... The other time Lamborghini went racing, was as a customer car in GT3. Given what people see Lamborghini as, I think they should huddle in gold/purple chameleon wraps on the streets.
If there is more interesting stuff and technical innovations to talk about for a Hypercar like any Koeniggsegg instead of one of the highest motorsport class... Just cheap marketing.

@@dra911 sure Back in 2018 the idea was to use the 919 streetversion (which was designed to be the next 918) as the base for the lmh car, powered by an all new tt 2.5 V6. Then the management changed, and they decided to do F1 and we started to put the lmh Money into F1 and develop that V6 as a 1.6 t V6. In the very same time the customer racing side was asking for a product above the gt3 due to the demise of gte, so they decided to develop the lmdh car alongside audi and multimatic. That lmdh was never designed to be a factory car. Then the F1 project died and audi pulled out of lmdh. The management decided to make some very last changes before the fia homologation in the lmdh to make It Better, to make It more 'Porsche' doing a mess. The bop was considered the saviour of the project, but we all know that the car Is not good and underdeveloped. Lamborghini wanted to wait a bit to see the 963 doing something, and they realized the ligier thing was Better.

The V6 was under developed so they found that 20yrs old lmp2 engine adding 2 turbos. Result, the Power Is not there, we re slow in the straighs and we burn a lot of fuel.

@@dra911 no worries! The software guys had to change a lot of things because audi didn t let us to use their techs and data (i can t talk about the details). The engine change was quite easy and we choose that old v8 because It s very similar to the audi v8, but we needed to make few changes to engine mounts and flanges to make It work, and Just there we Lost a bit of chassis stiffness. The Power Is there but It s very difficult to use It because of the maximum fuel/Energy allowed by the fia, so we can do like 4/8 laps and then we Need to tune the engine down a bit to save Energy. It s quite difficult to manage from the pits. Let s see what happens....

the 5.0 v10 would have been a moving orchestra, but realistically it was pretty clear any v10 would have been abandoned

The biggest problem of the previous ligier DPI was the weight and gearbox. Hopefully both of those are mitigated.

The connection to the road cars is the V8. It'll be used in the Huracan successor, and the Urus also has a V8 (a different one).

Why are the wheels not covered on the top? Is that just because the rules demand them to be "open-wheel" or is there an aerodynamic reason for it?

LMDh are low budget because they're all going the same route. LMH cars can afford not to do so because you simply have more budget to work with

The Power Is there but It s very difficult to use It because of the maximum fuel/Energy allowed by the fia, so we can do like 4/8 laps and then we Need to tune the engine down a bit to save Energy. It s quite difficult to manage from the pits.
