    Great to hear everyone is safe, including Sylfia. Cheers for sharing Nate, your lessons learned and shared may save a fellow sailor some grief in the future.

    Great big BALLS Nate and Jordan for going in at night in rough water to save the boat and crew. Nate how did you not get smashed in the head by the boat bobbing up and down in that mess. You two definitely displayed your diving expertise on that one. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

    Remaining calm is the biggest and best thing your crew can do when things turn to $#&%. Glad everyone is safe though that is what is important, love you folks. Great attitude Nate,”roll with the punches”

    That was a dangerous situation, and a dangerous dive to get line off the prop, well done captain.

    Nights on the water are scary when things suddenly happen. You guys did a great job given the circumstances! Sail on!

    Three pointers Captain Nate, it doesn't matter how experienced or proficient the crew is when operating on board,there is no shame in double checking and every rostered Deck watch should be practiced in the method, as a Dive Master you know the Open Ocean offers no space for complacency. The second part is, whilst remaining calm and endeavouring not to panic In an emergency, Murphy's Law is a very Hard task master and things can develop rapidly so Time scale estimates can often blur the lines in the decision making process. Best to apply simple rules of thumb, in that incredibly precarious situation especially, so when in Doubt Throw your Sea Anchor out, this alone change a great time saver. Lastly, you would have observed the Professional Fishermen at work and seen the superior method of Grappling lines and Anchor lines,the long poles and Gaff hooks ste cumbersome and dangerous capable of knocking a person overboard,the best method is a Grappling Hook attached to a 30ft long soft rope preferably cotton or hemp, a three pronged stainless steel hook. All the best regards, I really feel and care about you people, I am coming from many years of experience upon the high seas, and as it happens have survived many situations and endured all the learning curves. I could (maybe) keep you entertained for hours regarding, let's just say you were most fortunate given the prevailing wind direction. That was a real close contact level situation. Having said all that, you'll always be guaranteed quality assured outcomes when working with such excellent people as the Sofia Crew. May the wind fill your sails and the waters be calmed upon "Sofia's" approach. All the best from here in South West Australia. That was a real heavy night dive. 🖖

      Very lucky they were blown away from the reef - out to sea. If the wind was in the other direction.....

    Good to see the newest crew get a little airtime . Shame you don’t have Brett or another Australian to be part of the team when you travel our country . Always great to hear from Nerea and Aitor , who keep things real for your channel . When will you be showing us your Great America ?

    Good work. Easy to get complacent. Always pays to keep a tidy ship & always be on watch. Good job you are such experienced divers. How about a couple of Kayaking helmets for protection in these circumstances ?

    Scary stuff. I thought Nate and Jordan were very brave to go into the boiling water behind the stern to take the rope from around the propeller. The boat was being flung around so much there was a real danger of being whacked by the boat or, heaven forbid, the propeller itself.

    Another tip. Bump it in reverse for a half a second. It typically will get the line out of the prop.

  • @GrantArdern

    Yeah that was dangerous. Maybe use a throw grapnel to put up those mooring lines - that’s a bit easier than what you were doing…

    Hi Guys, glad it all worked out in the end.
    But looking at the mooring lines hitting the reef under water is not good. The people who put it there should have know that and more it to some where safer.
    Also looking at the mooring chain and looks very worn out , just look at it. Also I don’t think you should have been that close to the reef as when the wind does a 180 you would have been very very close to the reef.

    Word of advice, don’t integrate/play tunes in the back ground of your edited footage while your talking. It makes it difficult to hear what your saying…

  • @wildaltarose
    @wildaltarose 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    By the way remember Jordon is not “your crew”. I really don’t like the way you minimize the people on this ship. I stopped watching because of your arrogance, but thought I would try again. Not going to work for me. Safe sailing!

    • @goulash75
      @goulash75 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As Captain of the ship (and there is only one captain on a ship) EVERYONE on board in this instance, is crew. Doesn't matter if they just joined the boat, have been there from the start or even if they are / were partners or if they both own the ship. It doesn't belittle or demean the others in any way, but as captain, they are his crew... and a bloody good crew at that.

    • @MrJhchrist
      @MrJhchrist 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      What a strange gripe. What would you call someone on a sailboat that isn't the captain or a paying passenger? It's "crew" on every boat I know of unless it's just ` married couple on board. I think "ex-girlfriend" or something would be disrespectful by dismissing her current value and defining her by her previous personal relationship to him rather than her current contribution to the whole project. But seriously, instead of just complaining, how do you think he should refer to her? Ultimately I assume she has enough clout to be called whatever she wants and Nate would be decent enough to comply.

    What country is the BASQUE COUNTRY? Are they spanish? are they ashamed to be Spanish?
    Its a pity that greate channels like this become accepting political vindications.

    • @pavichapin
      @pavichapin 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is your Googler broken? Are you trying to tell people from there that they don't know where they are from? Get over it. Basque Country (Euskadi) is an autonomous community in northern Spain with strong cultural traditions, a celebrated cuisine and a distinct language that pre-dates the Romance languages.
