Got to agree with others. The title is misleading. I mean come on, a new(wish) Nikon compared to a 10 year old Fuji? Hell, that model is up to X-E4 now. And at half the price of the Z6II. Love Nikon but I would not say it's 100% better (price). I've been shooting corporate events with my Fuji X-T3 and H1 for over 3 years now. Haven't been disappointed yet.
Hi Allen, it’s good to hear how much photo sensor and lens technology has improved over time. The Fuji XE-1 came to the market in November 2012 thats 9 1/2 years ago. I guess if you compared any modern camera to a camera 9 ½ years old you would see a remarkable difference, even within the same camera brands. I shoot with a Fuji XT-3, having changed from full frame, the lenses being too heavy when there’s several to lug around in the camera bag. Nigel Danson did comparative landscape photo shoot to compare his Fuji XT-3 with his Nikon Z full frame. His conclusion on large size A3 prints was that the difference in detail could only be seen whilst pixel peeping close up at that size print. Fuji are rumoured to announce a new higher resolution camera next month. They have already produced a few even higher quality lenses to cope with the higher resolutions camera(s) due out soon. If you’re looking for a lighter setup with wonderful Fujifilm film-roll simulations for your personal photography, you may want to take another look at some stage. Capture One do a better job on Fuji files than Lightroom. th-cam.com/video/zZNr24yVD9s/w-d-xo.html I’m looking forward to your next video. Best wishes,
I have to say I don't understand the comparisons in this video - to your point - 2012 tech compared with almost current day tech is kind of silly. I currently shoot with a D850, with a D750 as a back-up but I've lately been intrigued by the Fuji X-T4, and X-T5 after following Andy Mumford's landscape shots done with those camera's - he actually made the switch from Nikon over to Fuji a number of years back. I'm very close to ordering a used X-T4 from MPB after unloading some old camera gear.
I bought an xt-3. People were raving about it. Maybe it's me, but I've never gotten used to the "color science." I'm not crazy about the colors it renders despite 1.5 years of fiddling in lightroom / photoshop. I have my sights on the z6ii (had a couple of Nikons before). Looking forward to seeing your videos!
At the time Fuji was coming onto the scene, I had an X-E2 and it was 6 years newer than my main camera at the time, a D700, and the fuji couldn't compare to the D700. Fuji sensors improved, and are great for outdoor sessions in good light, but they really show their limits in indoor event photography, especially if you need very clean images. The reality is that sensor tech has moved ahead so fast that Fuji APS-C cannot compete with a modern 35mm sized sensor. I used fuji for 6 years for outdoor sessions, but they are failing to innovate fast enough so I moved back to Nikon with the Z system. Great to hear your thoughts, and I think your year old video and thoughts are even more relevant now, even comparing fuji's latest 40+ megapickle sensors to the latest 35mm (full frame) sensors available. Just comes down to what tool you need and for what job. I still enjoy fuji for outdoor family sessions, but Nikon excels there as well of course.
It's a bit like comparing a Z6II to a Agfa Clack.. Besides Nikon FF camera's i use a x100v for personal use. Very happy with the results, and no fumbling with lenses..
The primary issue here is comparing a 2012 camera to a 2020 camera. Compare the X-E1 to the D3200 and the Z5 to the X-T4. I presume the Z5 will still prove superior, but not by as much as you’ve experienced. I own the X-E1, and it shoots…like it’s old. Haha. I have it for the look of the images, not at all for the performance. I’ve shot with Fujifilm since 2014 and I’m also considering a switch to full frame now, but it took until 2022 for Nikon and Canon to catch up with their full frame to where Fuji was with APS-C in 2015 as far as having a solid mirrorless system is concerned. Now, though, with full frame nearly the same size as Fuji X, and finally having a fleshed out lens lineup, I feel like Nikon or Canon is the way to go. (Sony’s just not my jam as a photographer who appreciates the handling of a camera and the colors a camera produces more than its video features or light speed autofocus when the others are ONLY extremely fast.) The major problem I still have with Nikon and Canon, though, is that no single camera seems to have all of the qualities I really want at the price point I prefer. Maybe the Z6II is the best choice between everything Nikon or Canon have to offer.
Need help. Which should I buy? I'm shooting fashion photography, not for an extended hours like w/ events. Using a d5300. Planning to upgrade. Thinking about Fuji x-t100, which has a touchscreen, mirrorless camera, evf, 4k and all other advance current features. But also thinking of d7100 or d7200, which a semi pro cameras, with multiple buttons, weather sealed, higher batter capacity, ergonomics. Which do you advice to get?
I've used a Fuji xt100t - it was "ok" for personal use but really not comparable to a D7200 in terms of image quality and also useability. However for any paid work my suggestion would be a D750. I used for 3 years at weddings and is still a camera I'd be very happy to use - great images - full frame - good useability - roughly same price as D7200 and vastly more lenses available than for cropped sensor D7200.
I owned a D7000, D600, X-T1, Z6, and X-T3. I prefer the X-T3 over all of them. The sensor on the Z6 is definitely better without a doubt, but the images I got from the Z6 lacked character and personality. Even if things were optically perfect, I always felt wanting more. I feel that the Fuji lenses and xtrans sensors offer a lot more character and personality. Cant go wrong with either. That being said, if you didn’t need blazing autofocus, the X-T1 still renders beautiful images. Never shot with XE1 personally
@@CreativePixelPhotos I just came to know of this company called pixii that makes digital rangefinders and the images they capture are gorgeous, they could make a good alternative to a fuji xpro 3 or an xe4. Just spreading my facination around :D
Allen - you are so correct. Much to my chagrin, over the years, I did that several times as well. Years later, I re-purchased the Fuji X-Pro1 and then later on the Fuji X-T1, to be bitterly disappointed. Not so much in the image quality, but in the grainy rear screen, the terrible autofocus, the dull, bleary EVF. However, you'll be very pleased to know that I have the Nikon Z6ii as well, and my Fuji X-T3 - Fuji has come a long way and other than not being a FF, my Fuji is right up there with the Nikon - in fact, most times I prefer the Fuji. You got a 'subscribe' out of me too. One favour, can you please put a link on here to your wedding photography, I'd be very interested to have a peek at your wedding images too.
I've got the x-e1 now. I'd say its far behind current technology. But I'm learning and hoping to upgrade to x-t3 as soon as a promotion presents itself. I was looking at Nikon Z system, but price. Thanks for sharing. I'm using 18-55 kit plus I just scored a 70-300. Realizing I like outdoor\wildlife, waiting for 150-600.
To keep it short I'd say they are very similar - in both useability and image quality. I thought the X100T that I used last year for a few weddings did a great job.
I still use my X-Pro1 which has the same sensor and the image quality remains fantastic 10 years later. Noise at 800 ISO? I don't see any even at 1600 ISO and very little, and a pleasant one, at 3200 ISO! I shoot with the X-Pro3 and X100V most of the time and the improvement is huge as compared to the X-Pro1 and X100 but I can't compare to Nikon's mirrorless system in 2014 as it didn't exist back then! And in terms of image quality the X-Trans I does pretty well compared to the latest generation (the X-Trans IV)! In fact the X-Pro1 images are often better, especially in black and white! Now you may dislike its almost organic 'film like' images and prefer something more clinical like most Sony users do but this has nothing but do with image quality. Cheers!
The only way I can understand this comparison, is if you’re thinking of cameras in terms of pre-digital. Where the difference was quality rather than computation.
Have a look at the Z FC for a casual travel walk around camera. As a Nikon shooter I think you’ll love it. I got one to use on walks etc for less serious photography and am loving it. For now I’m still using a D610 alongside it
Yea well you could always get a new Fuji camera and prob not going to be disappointed I mean they moved on as well. But yea z6 is great camera. Xe3 if you like that specific one.
Your video title is misleading and deceptive! you are not really comparing Nikon and Fuji, you are just illustrating how technology have came a long way. Its like comparing 10 years old iPhone vs latest iPhone version.
Sorry but what ridiculous comparison!!! How can you compare a 10 year old camera to a new Nikon..but then state that the Fuji is "way behind the Nikons" lol
It wasn't a "comparison" but a realisation of just how far we'd come in 10 years and how antiquated it felt given that 7 years ago I loved it. Of course it's way behind current tech.

The latest X-e4 and x-t5 are still noise boxes, but not worse than any other current crop sensor camera.

I'll be using Nikon cameras and lenses even after Nikon goes out of business. Then I might move to Canon for new gear.
Should have gotten the x-e2s instead of the x-e1.
well, that camera isn't exactly Fuji's best... My X-H1 has a huge EVF and absolutely stunning controls (best manual in class).
If you want that camera to be your friend, pick up the Konica 40mm 1.8 and never take it off.
in shocking news old camera is less capable at high ISO than modern equivalents
Thanks for the laughs 😃
Compering 10 years apart cameras??? Someone is smoking something????

gear may change slightly but good photographers are still good photographers and gearheads are still just gearheads , and always will be
threes geeks out there trying to convince people the x-pro1 has a certain "look" loool .. yeah right.
