Maverick Strada RX - NiMH, 2S & 3S Lipo Speed Runs

- We swapped the ESC fan power cable into the receiver so we could run 3S Lipo. Things got a bit crazy. Watch to the end for a couple of crashes.
Conditions weren't ideal.
Results:
7.2V Ni-MH = 30mph
7.4V 2S Lipo = 34mph
11.1V 3S Lipo = 52mph

That rally car looks sick. I just bought the 1/18th scale version for my friends Christmas gift. I think I'll get this one for myself.
Alex that's an excellent setup there! It shows how powerful these lipo batteries are. The Maverick Strada RX is very similar to the FTX Hooligan that I race (see my videos). Yours flips quite easily, I think the suspension might be too hard, loosen it off and it might grip the road better :)
Cheers, we haven't tuned any of our cars yet. Will definitely take a look and have a play. So much fun to drive though. 3S is just crazy power for it.

Do these have auto detect when switching from NiMH to lipo as I won't use NiMH just lipos? Or do you have to mess around with electronics to get it to work?
I believe the NiMH work fine when in the lipo mode. Double check the manual but we never changed mode when swapping.

is the car stock
The stock esc fan is only 5V. You need to rotate the fan so the fan power cable can be plugged into the receiver rather than the esc. When running 3S the esc will provide too much voltage to the fan so it needs to be connected to the B/C receiver port instead.
