What I find weird is that Tyr didn't even need to technically be alive post-Ragnarok for him to have this role. He literally could have been an appiration in Valhalla who fulfilled the same role he did in the story.
thor would have won against tyr most likely, but i really don't believe Odin really wanted tyr dead, i mean odin was so strangely done in this game, he didn't need to be cartoonishly evil, a realistic aproach would be just, odin wants tyr arrested so he won't try to mess his plans, odin is egoistical and will do all it takes to survive ragnarok but he is not cartonishly evil or sadistic

Getting to see Tyr in action really put into perspective why Odin locked him up, and why Thor respected him in a way. Tyr, at least from the outset, seems to be the best fighter out of all the Aesir, and for good reason. He may not be as knowledgeable as Odin or as strong as Thor, but he earned his reputation as a God of War
Indeed it shows how much Odin feared him if Kratos and Atreus rescued this one instead of the fake he would gladly help to bring Odin down and lead the armies of Ragnarok alongside Kratos plus I bet he’s actually a good cook as well and gained recipes he acquired on his travels introducing them to a little bit of new cultures
This explains why Odin was so eager to see Groas panel when they rescued the fake Tyr. He wanted to see how him tricking them as Tyr changed the course of events

It's amazing how this fight is really just a simple sparring but the stakes feel so much higher. Tyr's narrating and questioning Kratos during the fight adds depth and makes it feel like the true fight occurring within Kratos. What a battle for free DLC!
This wasn't just a spar. Nor was it a test of conception. Týr was training Kratos to be in every shape and form a God of War - a _diplomatic_ and strikeful figure, one who fought not to satiate bloodshed, but to defend the peace.
This mf on the 4th run (when he had the Katana but he combined all 4 weapons) and in the hardest difficulty was a nightmare for me he was harder than Sigrun and Gna

Literally the entire battle-gauntlet of Valhalla is a therapy retreat for Kratos, and nothing less than one of the few gods who just might be a match for him, in power and personal experience, reflection, and growth, is needed to be his therapist. "Sup bro, had a good jog(fight through thousands of enemies)? Ready for more fight-therapy?"
He really did not disappoint at all during the four encounters we had with him. He was able to switch between different Weapons of the Mythology like Kratos before.

it's a massive shame that Tyr's theme is so ignored on the internet compared to The Hammer Of Thor or The All Father (which are justifiably recognized because they sound so good) but Tyr's theme sounds just as good, it sounds epic and heroic and awesome but nobody's done a remix of it at all

A God of War set in Mesoamerica would be a tale of blood and sibling rivalry that I imagine even Kratos would pause and say "What the Hel?" at. Though I imagine it'd probably be Atreus who would tackle that journey, likely kicking Mictlantecuhtli's behind for being a bastard to human souls.(According to this setting's lore.) Imagine having to fight with star demons, winged jaguars, and all kinds of human-faced, bloodthirsty horrors, possibly cooperating with Quetzalcoatl-who famously loves mortals and detests 'fatal' blood sacrifices- against the likes of Tezcatlipoca-who has been resoonsible for Humanity perishing in 4 out of 5 incarnations in the Myth of the Five Suns-, maybe even have a showdown with Huitzilopochtli, the Aztecs' own God of War, the Sun and Sacrifice. On the other hand, a God of War set in Egypt could probably even help Mimir get a body of flesh back.
What is great for me is that I think both of them were holding back, so imagine the scale of a full bloody battle between them if it were ever to happen
Honestly I believe the stories about Týr from 2018 now. We all underestimated him when it turned out he was never truly a part of the main story and only an Easter egg. Turns out he only needed some time to clear his mind before he could go back to fighting again. And immediately after he straight up fights Kratos, and is a worthy enough opponent to Kratos for Kratos to write that Týr is the first opponent he’s faced that has forced him to adapt his strategies in fighting. He may be a warrior monk, but he’s truly the God of War through and through.
This is such a great way to showcase tyr and how he wasnt used in ragnorak, both god or wars, a trial, i love the combo of both their themes, a test to kratos to prove to tyr and himself, he is ready to become the god of war once again, despite his past, despite his mistakes, he is kratos, the destroyer of worlds, but also the god of war, and a protecter of the realms, the theme at 1:17 beat describes this, the rage is still there, but now with a purpose, a determination to prove himself and protect those he calls friend
The Tyr fight is just so much fun. A bunch of little gimmicks thrown in, but when you figure them out you start to expect the tricks. Not too easy, not a pushover. Has his own cool abilities like blood magic and clone attacks. Everything he does is fair and can be countered. Knowing that you'll have to get all the way back if you die keeps the tension up
This part in the theme, (1:00) along with the main part of Kratos’ theme is the greatest sound my ears have ever fucking heard. This is pure motivation in the form of audio waves.
If you lose to Tyr one of Sigrun's dialogs on the runback is "He won't hold back. He wouldn't insult you like that." or something like that. He's going full force.. for a friendly fight. I'd imagine he might get a little bit more dangerous if he were going for the kill but the same goes for Kratos.
"Don't hold back. I won't." That last punch was also the same punch that he did in GOW4 when he used spartan rage on Baldur for the first time. The punch that sent Baldur flying into that tree. And the same punch that made Thor flee in GOW Ragnarök. Clearly neither were holding back.
