    Sir please help me in solving the question i am unable to find it on google also and this category is not covered in your videos, A And B Can Do A Work In 16 Days A Alone Works FOR 8 DAYS AND B COMPLETES REMAINING WORK IN 20 DAYS BY WORKING ALONE. IN HOW MANY DAYS B CAN DO THE WHOLE WORK ALONE

    SIr, can you help with the LCM method for this question:
    Q: John can constantly dig a hole at 15 inches per minute and LInda can dig at 45 inches per minute. A certain hole can be dug by John alone in 12 hours. If the hole is dug by john for half the time and then both together, how many minutes does it take to dig the hole?
    A. 288 mins
    I took the LCM of 15 and 45. John does 3 units of work and Linda does 1 unit of work. Total work is 12*60= 720 minutes. First half, john works alone = (360/3) = 120 minutes. And then both together 4 units of work = (360/4) = 90 mintues. Total time = 120 + 90 = 210. But ans is 288 minutes. Can you tell me where i went wrong?

      Hi Rahul
      Understand the concept, we take LCM of number of days not the efficiency and that LCM is our total work
      Here Efficiency is already given and information to calculate total work is also given ( Total work done if John works = 12inch/min *60min *12hrs = 10800 inches)
      Now let they finish the work in 2Tmins ( I have not take T because by taking 2T calculation will be easy)
      John Work for half time and they both work for another half time
      Work done by John in T mins = 15T
      Work done by both in another T mins = (15+45)T= 60T
      Total work done by both = 15T + 60T= 75 T
      75T = 10800
      T= 144
      So total time (2T) = 288mins
      To avoid calculations
      15*60*12 can be equated to 75T
