Unbelievable!!! How Soap is Made In African Village in Ghana 🇬🇭! Azumah Blows!

  • #Azumablows refers to locally made soap commonly found in the rural areas of #ghana. Apparently, the soap is named after the much beloved Ghanaian three-time featherweight boxing champion, Azuma Nelson. The reasons for the soap being named after him have varied, some say, it was because the soap looked like the blow of Azuma Nelson or it was because the soap is very hard and heavy like Azuma Nelson’s fist blow or because the soap is very strong that it combat any stain like Azuma Nelson combated his opponents.

African tigress, i want you to know that Nigerian don't dislike ghana because you might think so from your comment, the only reason you see Nigerians behaving like this is because other Nigerians get on the youtube and attack Nigeria and tell them ghana is "heaven" so Nigerian spent years thinking ghana is very developed so when they see it now they are shocked and insulted by what they have been told by other Nigerians all this years. You can check Nigerians on youtube talking about ghana, and see for yourself.

People in the African villages are so talented in making a lot of items from nature and not everyone can travel to Africa so I hope one day the Continent of Africa can come together as one and promote made in Africa items, by opening an thing like Africa amazon where people from around the world can purchase items made in Africa...like the fabrics, soaps, jewelry, arts, bags etc...I know people in the diasporas will buy it, and that will be a good support for the villagers...I enjoyed the video, I've never used this soap but I have the black soap from Ghana, wish I could have gotten the shea butter soap also, but that one was sold out...But I went crazy buying the honey, shea butter, cocao butter, black soap...If they can't have an African Amazon then maybe each village can have a website that they can sell their own products to the world.

Besides your town/city vlogs of Ghana were disappointing; maybe many people were expecting so much from Ghana cos of all the hype so were disappointed with what they saw....that is the downside of over hyping a place. 😁

Nice video, thanks! You always do very well in the villages. Perhaps you should stick to African villages going forward😀
First, I guarantee you that you can find this soap-making somewhere in your own Kenya, because it is available everywhere in Africa.
Oil + Soda = soap + glycerine. Glycerine is the clear liquid sweating out of the hot soap, that your guide ignorantly called soda. The soap making process is called *saponification,* and it is routinely taught in secondary school chemistry.
There is a quantity of oil that that has to go with soda for a balance reaction. If the soda is more and not fully consumed in the reaction, you get *corrosive soap called soda in Nigeria*, that eats hands when handled for long. If the oil is slightly more than the soda, then the soap is more moisturizing and easier to handled and can be used widely, in bathing, laundry or dishwashing.
Black soap is made with Palm-kernel oil and soda. Different types of soaps are made with different oil, like coconut oil, groundnut oil, olive oil, etc.

During the transatlantic trade, palm oil was the most sold commodity by Africans to Europeans on the west coasts of Africa. The so called transatlantic slave trade was not not the most important trade on the atlantic between Europeans and Africans Palm oil was. Europeans made soap and many essential basic need products out of palm oil. Up to today, palm oil is still very important in everything fabricated in Europe included soap. They add it in chocolate, and milk products and other food. Check on ingredients and you will see palmitate which is a chemical derivative of palm oil. But this fact is overshadowed by the tendency to limit the transatlantic trade to the slave trade ( selling of Africans captives to some Europeans who took them to the Americas for labor in their plantations). But most of the transatlantic trade consisted of Europeans (Portuguese, Spaniards, Danes, French, Swedish, Dutch and English) ships coming to the coast to get palm oil, spices, rice, corn, ivory, gold and other local African goods, that they took back to Europe. This is why they named most of the places were they were trading, after the most commodity they were purchasing on the coasts. Grain Coast for example which was all the way from Sierra Leone to Liberia, but mostly Liberia, also known as Malaguetta or Pepper coast. Also the Ivory Coast which was part of the Coast in present day Ivory Coast. Most of the palm oil was purchased in the Qwa Qwa coast, Coast of Lahou which are also in present day Ivory Coast. But European were purchasing palm oil more than slaves, all over the West African coast The dutch even purchased some locally African made clothing from one part of Africa, mostly on the Qwa Qwa Coast and the coast of Lahu, in present day Ivory Coast and sold them down the coast to the Gold Coast ( present day Ghana) and all the way to the Slave Coast ( present day Nigeria).

Yes I said Nigeria because most of the captives in the area refered to as slave coast were from the Nigerian side. On the Ghana side, they were refered to as slaves from the gold coast. Yes they were a lot of slaves from present day Benin Republic but in those days, they were known as slaves from Dahomey because that was the name of the Kingdom of that area of the bright of Benin.

Black soap is grey or black. Black soap is made from the same process, but palm-kernel oil is used instead of palm oil in that process.
