I remember working at Subway and instead of chanting the customer is always right, the managers would always remind us that we had a right to refuse service to people because there were some really bad people who’d show up (were talking people who would try and abuse us into caving to give them free food or discounts)

Businesses really coddled customers far too much and rewarded the worst behavior, and now the worst customers attempt to use social media to damage businesses. Management sets rules and makes employees enforce them, but immediately cave in the instant they are called. Stand firm, call the cops, and have the customer removed. Or change your ducking rules if you won't enforce them yourself.

The one with the old man with dementia was really surprising. Instead of "not delivering because he was rude" or "because the area is dangerous" it being "not delivering because he wastes huge ammounts of money without noticing" is a bizarre, but pretty wholesome, change of pace.

@@galobrasil6928 There are different types of dementia and it doesn't always affect everyone exactly the same way. The closest it can be described is that it manifests as being unable to understand and/or remember things which they could before.
The sufferer might fail to recognise people they've known for their entire life, or remember people they've met in the past but fail to remember anyone new. They may become confused about where they live or how to get to places. Sometimes they'll become furious for seemingly no reason, although it's speculated that this happens because of the frustration they feel due to being unable to understand things or explain things, which they could have understood or explained if they didn't have dementia.

When I bought my home, I found out it was blacklisted from all the local delivery places.
I learned from the staff at a Dominos that the last owner was a coked up drug dealer who turned the garage into a drug lab.
I distinctly remember that not being listed in the seller's disclosure forms.
So I told my realtor and she called me back the next day with good news, the guy who sold the place had inherited it from his dad (the cook) and chose not to mention that the garage had been a drug lab. Rather than go through a huge lawsuit, they offered to return half my money. I gave 15% to my realtor and used the rest to pay off the balance of my mortgage.

I only ever went into a backyard once. Rang the doorbell, the guy who answered was a middle-aged white guy who had no idea why I was on his doorstep - then has an "aha" moment and directs me to his backyard, says "the other family must have ordered it." Nervous as all hell, I approach the wide-open fence, and what do you know, there's a hand-built extra room attached to the back of his house, and there's like two Mexican families living out of it. I delivered for Pizza the Hut in Texas in the late 1990s. One of the Apartment complexes was student housing for the local university. We always had trouble with people ordering pizza and then claiming to not have enough to fully pay. There was a bunch of jocks in one of the apartments who always got fresh and handsy with one of my coworkers (a really cute 4ft 10inch, 85lb asian girl). I got tired of hearing about this becaue nobody should have to put up with that crap. I took my coworker aside one evening and gave her this really small flashlight for her keyring. They called later that night for delivery and she took the order. She came back from the delivery with the biggest crap eating grin on her face. About an hour later we get a visit from the police wanting to speak with her. The idiots had grabbed her and tried to pull her into the apartment and she used her new "toy" that i had given her. The flashlight that i had given her was actually a 200,000 volt stun gun. The police left the resturuant and came back about 20 minutes later with 3 guys in hand cuffs for her to identify as the guys that tried to pull her into their apartment. They were all charged with attempted kidnapping and attempted sexual assault. The next monday we got a visit from the university officials with a formal appology and were told that every one of the jocks had been expelled from the university and kicked out of their housing. They also offered her a 4 year scholarship to the university as she was going to major in the medical field. She had been planning to go to a different less expensive uni but now was able to study in her home town.

The last order was 70 wings. Had started ordering them sauced, then call and complain to get them free. So we put the sauce on the side. Driver came back 20 minutes later covered in hot sauce. Back when I used to deliver for an international pizza chain that mentioned Hatsune Miku in an American ad in a desperate attempt to get weebs to buy their pizza, we had three people get put on a no-delivery list.
One was a woman who wasn't clear about her order, and refused to give more details. She paid with card, so we made and delivered the pizza anyways. A coworker goes to deliver it, and ends up with burns when the crazy lady opened the box, saw some of the toppings were incorrect, and flung the pizza back at him; the cheese was still molten, so of course it was hot enough to burn. He was given a few days off, police got involved, and the company sued the lady on his behalf and put her on a delivery ban.
Another guy was, unfortunately, just in a bad neighborhood. He did nothing wrong; however, a prostitute approached a coworker while he was on the job and offered sex for the pizza. Coworker, fearing for his job, sped off. Management instituted that that entire neighborhood was a "deliver if you're brave enough" zone. I still delivered, because if there's one thing you notice when delivering food, lower class tips exceedingly well and the rich don't tip at all. I've seen some things delivering pizzas, including hand-built additions to the back of homes where you'd have to go into someone's backyard to deliver a pizza to one of the two other families living out back. I won't say which state this was in, but it was close to or along the border to Mexico, so don't be too surprised.
The last guy was on a delivery ban because of me, personally. This morbidly obese dude who had clearly never once in his life taken a shower would order the same thing every time, and I remember it to this day; thin crust, triple pepperoni. We called it The Heart Attack because it was so oily that the crust was soggy every single time it got to his house, and it was soaking through the box, every single time. As for why he was banned, whenever he opened the door to his house, the absolute REEK of cat urine and body odor would hit you in a wave so thick that you'd gag. Some coworkers vomited, and he called to complain about it. When the manager realized that absolutely nobody wanted to deliver to this man, he delivered one last pizza personally - and decided that it was legitimately a health risk to stand on that man's doorstep.
The only other stories I have to tell are about people who tried to rip off drivers; had a family in a trailer park who were clearly white trash wait until the very last minute to order delivery, then conveniently not have enough cash; they surrounded my car and tried not to let me leave in the hopes I'd get impatient and just give them the pizzas. Didn't have to have them banned because they never ordered from us again when I got back in my car and drove off with their pizza still in my passenger seat. You don't cough up the dough, you don't get the pizza.
One last one; same kind of story as above, where I get to the house and nobody has money. Five VERY, VERY high teenagers, all around sixteen, three boys and two girls. They order three pizzas, and apparently were all under the impression that SOMEONE in their group was going to pay for it, without verifying who. They eventually cracked open a piggy bank, and paid for their order in quarters. At least they still tipped.

I spent 8 years in the military. When I moved back home I was really tight on money, so I delivered pizza for a little while. The manager, obviously since they were the one who had hired me, knew I was ex-military and asked me to deliver to these two apartment complexes that the other drivers wouldn't go to because a lot of muggings and stabbings occurred there. The complexes, I later learned, were almost entirely MS-13. I agreed to make the deliveries as I had been in areas of Iraq that made a couple MS-13 apartment complexes look like a nice holiday retreat. On my first delivery to one of the apartments, this younger Hispanic guy answered, probably early 20's, covered in tattoos, socks pulled up, etc. He told me that apparently every other delivery place had blacklisted those complexes due to the amount of problems the drivers were having there. He thanked me and gave me a $20 tip on top of his $50 order because I had brought pizza for his daughters birthday party. Oh I can answer that, though they aren't really "DND" anymore seeing as they both fucked up. You see, it's mostly girls in highschool that apply for delivery positions at our pizza place, and the owner has a daughter a little older than them who works there as well. Well these two gentleman, one well into his forties, the other in his *eighties* , got their rocks off by hitting on the girls. The aforementioned fuck ups are as follows. "Robe Guy" was the man in his forties who loved to answer the door in only a robe that would "slip open" and flirt with the girls. Well he did this to a 16 year old, which is very illegal.
The eighty year old man asked a 17 year old girl if she would sleep with him... For twenty dollars. Also illegal.
Both of them had the cops called on them by the Owner. Robe Guy is in jail, Old Guy is blacklisted by many of the delivery places in the area due to his actions and is on a strict probation. (Like I said, dude was 80 and on an oxygen tank. Doesn't excuse his actions but explains the outcome.)

Worked at a pizza place and we had a new, young manager. It was his second day, and a busy one at that. We were short on drivers which meant some people had to wait 40+ minutes on their food to arrive. One person called in and he answered. She was very rude and he hung up on her when it was clear she wasn't listening to anything he said anyway. Then she showed up at the store. Basically, she made a scene, yelling, cursing, threatened, so he said he'd call the cops. After a minute and while he's on the phone with the cops she starts to leave. I guess the cops told him to get a picture of her lisense plate because he followed her. When he came back in he said she had kids in the car, saw what he was doing and tried to run him over, laughing maniacally. No one else saw this and there wasn't a camera pointed that direction. Surprisingly his second day wasn't his last

There's this one chick I used to hang with and give long rides to for gas money, til she valued my time and gas less and less, and I was done putting up with her ungratefulness, and dropped her. (It takes A LOT for me to drop someone.) Lo and behold I start a delivery job at Dominos, where she was constantly trying to screw us over, and one time when I delivered to her, she and her boy toy tried getting me fired, yet failed. I refused to deliver to her after that. Later on she tried calling in on another delivery saying "The pizza was still frozen."........WE NEVER FROZE OUR PIZZA. Well, one of my coworkers lived with her, mainly because at that time it was with her or live in his Tahoe with a leaky sunroof. He ran back to her apartment raging mad as he nearly lost his discount over her shenanigans. I don't think she's blacklisted, but no more free food for her.
Fast forward and I now work for Pizza Hut, as delivery as well. I've never seen her order from there while I worked here, but when asking my manager, they know of her too, so there's that. She's the reason both PH and Domino's debate not delivering to those projects sometimes.
Funny enough, when she later desperately needed a ride, her new man who is acquaintances with me and whom I was still cool with, reached out to me for said ride. I said that I'd take him, but wanted nothing to do with her. He said that she said she was sorry and all. I said "she's only sorry because she needs something from me. She threw the word "harassment" at my job, and nearly got me fired for that false claim. I enjoy my job, and she messed up big time by trying to ruin it for me. She's SOL."
She also has a son that's just under a year old, so I hope he isn't raised to pull these shenanigans too. She needs to grow up.
Shes's pretty much on MY DND list, if not my workplace's.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

@@phlushphish793 She initially agreed to pay me, as we were friends. It was just her attitude change over time that killed it. She began to value my time and such less and less, paying less and less, and her attitude grew more and more short. I put up with it for far longer than I probably should have, but I don't like dropping people if I don't have to. It was eventually where, here I am with a car needing an oil change, shes paying JUST ENOUGH to cover gas, not even compensating for my time or maintenance. I don't ask much, just enough to cover gas and my time, and probably cheaper than an Uber. One time, I was voicing my concern about her attitude and lack of value for my time, and she started to get short with me about it, like "It's not that bad, not that big of a deal." Right, how dare I get upset, right? That escalated, until I dropped her at home. She counted out some ones, threw $9 at me (not even the promised $10, which given the time and distance, was bare minimum as it was), threw it at me, and said "There, bye." I told her "It's not even worth your friendship anymore, and your attitude is unacceptable given multiple chances and hints to correct it. I'm done, find another taxi." I drove off. a month or so later, after I was hired at Domino's, she pulled that stunt. Then, months later, apologizes only after she needs a ride again. I told her man "Sorry, but not with her." He hasn't said much to me since. Haven't heard from her since either. Good riddance. I don't need the negativity. I'll do anything for my friends, but I won't be treated like dirt.

One night the number called and the lady wanted a delivery. I explained to her the terms and she demanded to know why. I told her, well on *this date* and *this date* and *this date* we had orders from your number when they denied ordering the pizza - so all of your orders going forward are prepay cash only.

I work at a local Dominos in Tampa.
We had a woman coming in only to argue with us about her "late order". We warned her in advance that all of our drivers are on the road and her delivery was on route for another 45 minutes since we have 30 deliveries ahead of hers. We went as far as refunding her when she arrived even gave her a remake on her food FREE OF CHARGE. Mind you she kept changing up her story let alone demanded a full cash refund even though she paid with card even went as far as to yelling curses and death threats at us before punching at the sneeze guard at the front counter that almost toppled over and hit four of us who were up there; my manager included!!
Long story short, we banned her from our franchise, so every branch she tries to order from are never serving her nor delivering to her address again.

I was the closing driver for a pizza spot for 3 years straight, but there was one night I couldn't forget.
A kid called my manager and wanted something to order something for less than 10 bucks, she tried soo hard to help this kid, working out the items he wanted, but the kid settled on, was adamant on a dessert piece and a medium pizza. That item alone made the order impossible to complete without the kid coming down to pick it up, and so the conversation slowly devolved. This took less than 15 minutes before the kid snapped and called calling my manager a bunch of names. She slammed the phone after he called her a whore and got a tad bit angry.
Fortunately for us, I had memorized the address she punched in, it was apart of an apartment complex just off of the freeway.
An order popped in and we both got started making it. The order contained an address, and i instantly recognized it, causing the manager, Kirstie to cancel it in an instant.
Another phone call arrived, and i took it. A medium pizza and a dessert piece. I gave the customer on the other line a chance right up until the squeaker said that my manager was a filthy piece of shit. I stopped the call right there and then. For 30 minutes, that kid tried every avenue of approach but we shut all of it down, even when the kid claimed a free pizza that his friend had (turned out he had the money) but we just kept canceling the orders. The calls increased with frequency, with the kid threatening us, calling us names, to crying and asking why he could not get any food. we had little goodwill left for this kid, and the manager ripped him a new one in a professional matter. The calls stopped after that.
This kid managed to land himself and the entire building of that apartment complex (1 of 10 buildings) into the no - go list. Whenever I delivered to that location, I always made sure to explain to people who live in that particular building why their orders are never accepted.

Back in the mid-2000s, the brother-in-law of someone who was in my extended family (by marriage) at the time was a pizza delivery guy. He got robbed and car-jacked at gunpoint by some teenagers in an otherwise okay neighborhood (neither good nor bad 'hood, just "okay"). What makes this story interesting is that #1, one of the teens used his own cellphone to order the pizza and was traced that way. #2, some of those same teens also car-jacked another friend (and neighbor) of ours in our apartment parking lot. At gunpoint too. It was his work vehicle for the limo/executive sedan company he drove for.
The story I got was that the car was recovered (intact) and one of the teens was arrested because a sharp-eyed Police Officer spotted a teenager driving the "executive sedan" with an approximately 1¼ inch (30 mm) airport car service approval sticker on one of the rear windows. Another teen from the group was arrested because of the aforementioned cellphone. There was one other attempted car-jacking blamed on the same teens from the same week as the other two incidents (this other car had mysterious circular/oval holes in it with traces of lead around the circumference. Luckily the driver had no additional holes in him).
AFIK, around here, teenagers cannot legally drive for limo/executive sedan companies (probably not taxi service of any kind either). The apparent visible youth of the driver and the tiny airport car service approval sticker made the Cop's "Spidey sense" go alarm bells. The big airport in our metropolitan area only allows taxis and car service vehicles to pick up paying customers if they meet certain criteria (age/model year, safety equipment including fire extinguisher, etc.), pass an inspection above and beyond the state annual inspection, and receive/display the aforementioned sticker. Picking up family/friends at the airport in any road-legal vehicle is allowed - only "for hire" vehicles require the additional vetting.
I believe those teens got an all expenses paid vacation in an exclusive facility where pizza deliveries are not allowed. The Grey Bar Hotel.

Thankfully I know I'm not on any of them lists. If anything I'm on the "get this one first" list, because I always tip big on top of the delivery charge, and if the delivery guy just so happens to comment on the skunky/herby/marijuanaey smell wafting from the door, then they might just leave with a lil extra extra too.
When I was in college, there was a pizza place a block away around the corner from my apartment, I could see it off my back porch, right into their kitchen and dining room.
Their delivery charge was 2 bucks, and I always tipped 30-50% since I could have just as easily walked and got it myself, and short drives are murder on vehicles with the stop and go shit, and that's when I found out that the 2 delivery guys would race to get my order whenever I called in, since they would just spend the minute to walk it over to us.
Those guys wound up saving an entire college during a blizzard too, because no one could get weed and we were all snowed in for 2 weeks. But I had a connect with the 1 delivery guy, who saved the day. Called everyone up who was hurting, and told them to "order a pepperoni with green sauce", and when asked what size, small was an 8th, medium was a quarter, and large was an ounce. As long as they paid the delivery guy a nice tip, they would walk it over with your herbals, since this was a small town and all. Not like they were going miles

One of my coworkers was 16 and got off the phone with someone and was like "this guy was flirting with me and kept asking for my number". I saw that a call was coming in from the same guy and told her I would take it. Guy asked to talk to my coworker by name and by this time I was pissed and was like "sir she's underage, how can i help you?" He replies that that's okay and keeps asking to talk to her and I keep replying tersely "how can I help you?" He orders one (1) ranch cup and then asks me if I'm free to which I reply "I'm gay, did you need anything else?" He's stunned for a couple of seconds then proceeds to go "I can change that." So i hung up on him and told my manager.
Fast forward like an hour later, the delivery driver (who is also a girl) who delivered to him told us about how he kept trying to get her inside his house and needless to say we blacklisted that address.

    Here is an interesting story:
One night I answer the phone at the pizzeria I work at. I take the phone order and the guys name and address pops up on the screen. On the bottom right hand side a note pops up saying "On the no delivery list, under no circumstances do we deliver to these people." I say unfortunately turn them away, but decide to write the name down on a piece of paper (you'll understand why in a bit)
Thirty minutes later they call again and get a different employee. They give a different (fake phone number) and the same address. I look over the employees shoulder and say "We don't deliver there." and we have a funny idea. We take the order and the customer agrees to pay cash for the $100 order (shocking I know) and we call the number they gave us to verify it was indeed not them but a yoga studio. We laugh and put the receipt on the back burner.
Over an hour later they call demanding where their food is, and we tell them we could not verify their phone number, so we checked the address and found we couldn't deliver to it. We couldn't call them to tell them we couldn't deliver to them cause the phone number they gave was clearly wrong.

I was told that this was because the complex didn’t have enough nighttime lighting. By the time I moved out it had gotten a lot worse, with the exception of Thermal Nuclear War, you name it and it had happened. They came over to our house a couple times and he would always be creepy and verbally abusive towards my aunt. Then we went to visit my grandma and my aunt and cousins came over, but the BF wasn’t around. My grandma mentioned him and my aunt got so mad it caused an argument. My mom decided to take us home, and on the way we asked what happened. My mom told us the BF had shot a pizza delivery driver and was in jail; my aunt, who had been repeatedly physically abused, was still defending him. He was the father of my aunt’s twins.

You say that, and by all modern western standards it makes sense. But put yourself in any place of the world 1000 years ago and even most places now, people only want to affiliate with those they know and trust. Ethnic groups have been killing each other in wars throughout history. Its not an excuse to be racist but should really make you appreciate the timeline you live in as well as the place you live in where that's looked down upon. China will vilify you just for not being Han. Or throw you in a work camp if your religious. Modern day nazis.

I used to work at my local Pizza Hut, but I was a cook, not a driver. I was friends with one of the drivers who was new too. I was once working on the deep fryer when I noticed he was studying a map of our town with colored zones. I asked him what these colored zones mean and he said that non-colored areas are OK to deliver to, yellow zones are to follow the dotted lines as entry/exits, and reds we are to say we do carryout for if you feel uncomfortable driving in there. I remember that while I passed one of the inlets to this neighborhood across the highway a year before, they had a drug bust with barrels being rolled out by SWAT. That was one of the red zones. When I spent a year working delivery, there were 4 streets that were the main “nope” zones.
    Jay
    Bay
    Clifford
    Ward
I tried hard to get “Weld” officially added to the list. I could refuse that street, but fuck was I bothered when someone else didn’t look at the sign that said “NO JAY NO BAY NO CLIFFORD NO WARD” and then had my handwriting in pen saying “NO WELD!!!!”
Every once in a while someone would hear “we don’t deliver to that street” and would beg me to bring them food. If they sounded sincere or old, sometimes I’d make the exception. Those were the deliveries I put a knife in my pocket before I left my car, though.
Of course, when I developed a crack problem a little while later, those were all streets I became familiar with.
Funniest moment from my 5-ish month crack problem?
I got a newer car after my grandma died, and a few weeks later, went to get some crack. Heard one guy asking another who I was and why I knew to buy there.
Other guy goes “He used to have that red Chevy. He’s good money!”
I have since left that city... but, without major changes, if I ever go back, I could easily find myself in an area where I could get drugs. Scary.
Should anyone want to know, I’ve been clean for about a month, now that I’ve moved. Have had some pot with family, but haven’t touched crack again or anything stronger than pot.
Moral of the story? Be careful what you do when you learn dangerous information... like where in town one can get drugs.

How about when we ordered a Supreme pizza from the Hut, the driver drops it off, saying truly inappropriate things to a 13-yr old me (girl), we called to report him afterwards only because he then called our house trying to get my name. He would be "reported". And they had gotten the original order wrong in the first place. They sent along a new pizza with a credit to our address/number. The delivery driver was the same guy...who said bad things to my mom, called us repeatedly that night and said nasty things whenever I answered the phone. He was fired that night but he almost didn't made us change our number because of how much he called. Randomly. He never spoke to my dad or brother if they answered...just my mom, sister, and especially me.
Also, my mom was awful in her last 10 years of life. She didn't get enough oxygen to her brain and she had serious narcolepsy which gave her delusions. She seemed like a crazy person and it made delivery places an issue. She would forget things... even the police were used to her phone calls. We were always trying to be there with her to be between her and the world as a buffer for others sensitivities because explaining brain injury and constant oxygen deprivation behavior is impossible. Why can't you get this adult to do what her doctor says?!... She thinks she only needs to do half of whatever they tell her to.

There's a seedy Motel 6 in my city and has become a regular place for addicts, pimps and prostitutes, and dealers to spend their time. It's across the street from a Taco Bell and Walmart, right next to the porno store and just down the street from a rundown strip joint. The rates are low and some rooms have garden tubs. No one will deliver to that motel bc of the activities that perpetuate within. Not even Grub Hub or Post Mates. Uber will take you through a drive thru and back though.
