      I'm #10 just like this video !!! Hahahaha. Seriously though Rinske this was a quick & beautiful pour !!! I think showing the paints sliding down the paper will be a huge help to many who ask about the consistency...that was the PERFECT way to explain it & show it to people ... and for those who did not believe that cells could be created with just paint & water this was perfect at showing the cells appear right in front of them . Excellent video !!! And I love the way You normally say "canvas" lol don't change !!! I look forward to seeing the rest of the series & good luck with the questions lol . 😘😘😘😘😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜

      My question is how do you choose your colors. I have a variety of paint colors, but afraid of choosing the wrong colors for the paint pour. I would appreciate your help.

    It took me 3 months, lots of failures, wasted paint, painting every day until I got my consistency spot on most of the time. I do sell quite a few but I never varnish them now until I’m absolutely sure it’s worth saving - then I reuse the ones I think I can improve on, most of the time. I watched your beginner videos and found them extremely helpful when I started over a year or so ago. Then I moved on to waterfall pours, brush painting, and now I’m playing with Dutch Pours again.
    I was thrilled to sell a particularly lovely Dutch Pour recently. I painted it a long time ago and sold it to a songwriter/singer for a singles cover! I was really stoked about that!
    I was very fortunate to have my work on display at Kairercraft for 6-8 months - you can’t get that sort of advertising. From that I’ve given art lessons - mostly to adults. My advice is to not give up. It’s very easy to become frustrated, and my other tip is don’t advertise your work until you’re pleased with the quality and getting good feedback. . It’s tempting to put it in a competition before you think your work is good enough. Don’t sell it too cheaply either, but make sure you use the best paint you can afford. I use Amsterdam for Dutch Pours. I don’t varnish my work until I’m sure I love it enough - otherwise I’d be overrun by them.
    I can’t thank you enough Rinske - I’m in Palliative Care and painting has been great for my pain levels. I haven’t been able to eat for over four years - I live on hospital formula - so I’ve filled my life, my pantry and my cupboards with paint etc and use my kitchen as a studio. Painting is great therapy for me - I love to spend an evening just mixing paints for the following day. It’s very relaxing and gives me time for mindfulness. I’ve always painted but get such joy out of my pours - especially Dutch Pours, Swipes and Waterfall Pours. Painting enables me to zone out pain. I don’t get tired of it and I do enjoy challenging myself by starting all over again to learn a different type of pour. I’ve followed you from the start and I appreciate every video you’ve made. Your enthusiasm inspires me half the world away - I live in the island state of Tasmania. Thank you, thank you, and thank you again for your generosity in sharing what you love to do. Stay safe Rinske.

    I have been buying paint and supplies like crazy and now I've been obsessed with buying resin stuff. I haven't started anything. But you are right, we are watching and learning. I just saw this quote today from an old folk singer, Harry Chapin, "The key to life is that I am willing to make an ass of myself; the key to my life is that I would rather be wrong than frightened." All my life I've been a little afraid of revealing myself through my work and also being bad at it, I have to get over it and begin!❤

      my spray varnish leaves a milky white glaze over the canvas...either that or it's really uneven with some glossy spots and some that don't look varnished at all. Do you have any advice? :D

    • @RinskeDouna
      @RinskeDouna  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes please try another brand, and make sure the varnish is 24hrs beside the painting before you varnish, so they have the same temperature!

I made a huge commission piece (20x16) with grey sides, white center and tan, turquoise, black, gold, and dark brown and blew it out. It was sooooo gorgeous and I just knew that my first attempt was going to be the best. Untillll it dried and cracked throughout the entire center where the white was so thick I guess. She mentioned in this video that Amsterdam and Winsor & Newton are the 2 brands that she uses because they nicely pigmented & react so well to using water only .... a lot of other brands do not especially if they are poorly pigmented the water breaks down the binders in the paints too much then you need to add a pouring medium to them but still use the right consistency as she showed on the paper in this video . 😉😉😉😉

    I scrapped 1 painting 10 times or more. It was nice to hear that happens to you too. My white keeps swallowing my colors. Hi Rinske! Adore your beautiful art so much, even more than all the other pour artists, so I was mortified when I saw that I had failed to subscribe!!!! So sorry ! You crack me up, by the way. Not new to dirty pour, but have never had a successful Dutch, so I love the paper drip test! Thanks for that.

      Follow Up! Because of your paper drip test example, I have now completed my first ever successful Dutch Pour! I am no Rinske, but it came out beautiful in my humble opinion! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience with us, and for inspiring me to try again. This is closer to the kind of pouring art I really want to do, so I am so grateful, and have a renewed hope that I can get where I want to go.

    Hi Rinske.... sorry if my English is worse then Google translate, English is not my first language 😃
    I love your paintings so much, that it has inspired me to try it my self 😊 Because of my illness (MS), my brain sometimes stresses out, and painting makes me relax.... so thank you!
    I'd like to know.... how do you know, how much base you need to mix, to cover your canvas??
    Have a beautiful summer 🍨🌸

    The blue color of your work is so beautiful. Have you ever baked your work with a small torch? If so, have you ever burned a torch and ruined it?

    Thank you for addressing varnishing. I’ve tried a pour varnish and failed miserably. My last painting I did was for my son’s new house. It was beautiful until it dried and cracked. So here’s my question: how can you tell if there’s still too much paint, that will crack? Also thank you for sharing your amazing talent with all of us.
