There was so much hype for this movie. I remember being a kid and just couldn't wait till this movie came out. I wanted all the little burger king kids meals toys they had. Literally that's all I talked about was this movie. And then finally getting to watch it in theaters was amazing. Sure the plot wasn't great, but in the eyes of a young boy, this movie was incredible.
There was just something about the first 3 films that always got u pumped. The fourth transformers was good for the most part. But the fifth one, I just feel like it lost its touch, it didn't have that same excitement that I had felt in the past transformer movies.
Quite ironic too, considering Megatron was exploiting but a brief moment of vulnerability when he himself had been fighting a losing battle for most of the scene. Optimus probably would’ve won their last one-on-one he hadn’t stopped for Sam.
He was refering to Prime lowering his guard to look for Sam when he finally got the edge on the three of them. He looked away when he finally made the tables turn, and this mistake cost him his life. He worried about Sam's life this entire battle. That is why he lost and why Megatron called him weak.

It's hard to judge because Optimus is much more agile and more skilled as a fighter in general but megatron tends to tank a lot of hits and give out much larger and more powerful attacks.

3:20 Optimus using Starscream’s body and momentum against him by roll vaulting over his back and throwing him off balance is the most effortlessly badass move ever pulled off in any of the 5 Bayformers movies. The same goes for when he ripped off Starscream’s arm and beat him with it. Optimus was a fucking savage! 💯🔥
I used to think of it that way too but now I realise he means it in the sense that Prime was too focused on protecting Sam (which left him vulnerable) instead of focusing on the fight in which he had just gained the upper hand. So his "weakness" was looking out for Sam instead of himself.
Carter's productions megatron can actually solo optimus but he just got his new body plus his right arm is to heavy and megatron is a brawler so he’s not used to his sword too
Say what you will about the storylines and some of the acting, but you can't deny that the visual and sound effects of these films were absolutely incredible.

I think a big reason this fight works so well is that for one, the focus is on how small Sam is rather than how big the transformers are (meaning that the camera is further away), and the forrest setting allows for their colors to stand out more

Watching this scene back....this is a really good scene, the fighting, the trash talk, the sound design, the attention to detail, the snippets of words from the decepticons that you'll miss if you're not listening. The rest of this movie was...not like this.
The first third was made before the writers strike, and the script suffered a bit because of it. Movies like this are like a freight train at the top of a hill..it's too big to stop, so they had try and make it go where they wanted anyways. Ultimately we'd probably still got a big dumb movie even if it didn't happen but I think the writing would been less sloppy and the jokes would been less low brow since I heard Bay himself was coming up with some of the ideas. (Such as the wrecking balls on Devastator.)

I’m sure some time has gone by between the two films and so when this scene comes about I think Optimus’ disappointment has turned into unbridled rage as the realization finally hits home that Megatron is pure evil. Emotions evolve constantly and in some moments they can escalate pretty quickly. In this particular situation it’s an all out war so what might take months or years to develop in normal times will sure as hell change really fast during a battle between former friends. Knowing that your “brother” not only relishes the death of innocents but actively seeks in carrying it out would wear on my nerves pretty fast too I think.
If anything can be said about these movies, is that the decepticons are very intimidating and evil in appearance. This was one of the best fight scenes in the series.
Dragon Ball Z is the series that popularized epic fight sequences in animation. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is just a free for all clusterfuck.
I love how Optimus stays on Megatron like a freaking police dog in the first 30 or so seconds of the forest fight. His fighting is extremely vicious and precise leaving no room for Megatron to react. Then he pops out his blade and goes to work with such surgical precision. The perfect balance between using his environment and his weapons/martial arts to completely wreck Megatron. That first few moments perfectly encapsulates the difference between one who relies heavily on brute force and the other who utilizes actual combat skill.

I’m sure some time has gone by between the two films and so when this scene comes about I think Optimus’ disappointment has turned into unbridled rage as the realization finally hits home that Megatron is pure evil. Emotions evolve constantly and in some moments they can escalate pretty quickly. In this particular situation it’s an all out war so what might take months or years to develop in normal times will sure as hell change really fast during a battle between former friends. Knowing that your “brother” not only relishes the death of innocents but actively seeks in carrying it out would wear on my nerves pretty fast too I think.

I may want to agree with you now that I’m older. My movie taste has slightly matured since
I love how Optimus stays on Megatron like a freaking police dog in the first 30 or so seconds of the forest fight. His fighting is extremely vicious and precise leaving no room for Megatron to react. Then he pops out his blade and goes to work with such surgical precision. The perfect balance between using his environment and his weapons/martial arts to completely wreck Megatron. That first few moments perfectly encapsulates the difference between one who relies heavily on brute force and the other who utilizes actual combat skill.
I love how they mix the sound on the robots, cars and everything around them... Even the soundtracks

Only boring part about it. The Fallen had the worst battle with Optimus. But I don't hate the film, I really enjoy watching it. But my favorite is DOTM.
I honestly most of the parts I hate about these films are usually the parts where we focus on the humans.
