Take me back 40 years to when my grandad used to breed Gloucester Fancy and Border Fancy canaries in his shed. The smell of creosote in the aviary transports me back to this day, even though its not around anymore.

I have a good range that visit including bullfinch greenfinch , goldfinch, blue tit , im seriously considering buying a couple now after watching this . Looks spot on nice and clean the birds look well happy.

Yes but who has asked the canaries if they enjoy such a confined space in which exercising their little bodies by flying properly, is severely constrained. They need a lot more soace as well as visual stimumation. Not one singke blade of grass or greenery to look at or branches to fly upon
Hi, The Native birds are all acquired from other breeders, all of which are captive bred & closed rung in accordance to the law. The young birds aren’t released, they are selectively bred each generation to closer suit the ‘standard’ set for the species for exhibition. They will either stay here for further breeding or go to other breeders. That said, Im in talks with some well known conservationists on the topic of reintroduction programs with some native finches which are bred to the ‘wild’ standard

How do you acquire the native birds and when you breed them do you set them free in their native surroundings?

Hi, no there isn’t a license needed unless they’re a protected species. That said, for some species you need A10 certificates
