The ORIGINAL Cerebral Assassin . Triple H steals from some very good sources . The mutton chop mustache and high knee smash he got from Ole Anderson and The Mind games from Flair and The Assassin . I noticed a few other homages in Trips' style . One thing that stands out is that hia style in more Soythern than a guy who grew up watching Bob Backlund wrestle in the Garden seems likely to be .
You can't get better than Assassins vs Mr. Wrestling 1, and Mr. Wrestling ll. Assassins talked rough and rude, but at times, would speak eloquently, with the restraint of a professional hitman. They brought in the fans. They knew how to push the emotional buttons - get the audience riled. The Assassin's feud with Big Ray Candy, hometown Hero - were also epic.
Funny you should mention "hitman". Bob Roop was Eddie Graham's (Tampa FCW NWA) "hitman" until Dick Slater showed up for a tryout. Then he was Eddie's "hurtman". There was some real monsters in the NWA days that could hurt you just by farting in your direction. Many of them were "catch" wrestlers like the Shamrocks, Ruas, and Josh Barnett of MMA fame.
