Wonderful! Thank you! I never use clear chips for the corners, I line all four edges with a small line of clear fine frit and I never have air bubbles.
Tabitha, those are so dang fun! Brilliant use of what we call "Steel Wool" here in the States. Super creative as always. I wonder if you could make a wave shape (with a grinder) across the top on the seascape one to remove the "clear tabs" on the upper corners. You might be able to do a rounded "mountain" shape on the mountain-scape one. They are beautiful as they are. What a fun project! Thanks for sharing!👍😉
Thank you. Hair, like any other organic material, is a bit problematic as it will bur off. It will leave some sort of residue, if it's sandwiched between 2 layers of glass. There are techniques where you coat hair/ leaves in powder and then fire it, the name of it is fossil vitra, so you could look into that, if your interested in trying it out.
I had it sandwiched between 2 layers of 3mm Tekta, and on a full fuse the bubbles I was getting were quite big. Tack fuse gave much better results for me. I haven't tried clear powder on top, but I have a feeling it wouldn't cover the wool well enough. But if you give it a go, please let us know how it turned out.
perhaps the spacer pieces could be made out of one of base color glasses and cut sort of irregular instead of squares . it could help blend the in and help with the wash out effect. or camouflage the edges with a dusting of the color frit on top too in addition to the murrini. I like the mood of the welsh sheep piece.
Good idea. I just wasn't thinking, and did it a bit too fast. I also could have refired it, but I didn't want to lose the shape of my murrine even more.
Nice idea. I might look into it. I do have a discounted area in my studio, and projects like this, that are pretty, but not perfect go there. There's always someone that will buy it and wont mind the squares.
love them all
You do Wonderful work. Sorry, I am so late to the video.
Fantastic, this class give me a ton of ideas thanks so much😍

Thank you for the tip. I'll keep it in mind for the next time.

Thank you for your kind words, and a really good suggestion. If they don't sell over the summer I might have to spruce them up a bit.
Incredibly interesting! Definitely going to try this one. Who would have thought about using wire wool. Have you tried using hair in a project?

Something else I want to try when the weather warms up. The downside of having my workshop in an unheated garage.
Spring is almost here, so hopefully you will be back in your studio creating again
Fun idea! The sheep murrini are darling! Have you ever tried layering fine frit or powder clear over the wire wool?

How about some metal corner pieces that compliment the scene. Like the ones used for jewelry. Just on the 2 with the corners the show.

Interesting, not seen anyone use wire wool like that before. It didn't seem to oxidise as much as I thought it would.
Thank you. It will oxides more on a full fuse, but on a tack fuse it just goes slightly darker.
Steel wool
Can you tell us what size of wire wool? Steel wool here in the U.S. is in Extra fine, fine, 0000, 000, 00, 0, etc.
Hi, I honestly don't know what size wool I used. I would say as fine as you can get.
