Caterpillar 941 Overview

- This is a quick overview of my Caterpillar 941. It is an 1971 Model with a Cat D330 motor producing 70 Horsepower. As I state in the video, it is mechanically sound. I forgot to video the foot controls. It has a left and a right pedal for steering, with a larger pedal in the middle for stopping. For what I use it for, clean up on some jobs and material handling in my compost operation, its more than enough machine.

And she is a fine ole girl bud!! I've ran 955 and 977 track loaders but never one like that ole girl she's a beeutee!! Hope the kids injoyed!! 👍

I learned on an old 951 I used to use an old 977 to push up millings when we stockpiled on the job and learned how to load truck with it at night I'd dump 3 buckets on most of the trucks and that would put a good load on them
Before I came across this one, I was looking at a 977. That was a little too big for my needs. Those 977s are a monster of a machine though...

I noticed your 941 doesn't appear to have a deaccelerator. The 941s I've been around have a deaccelerator and everyone seems to say you're supposed to idle down before shifting to avoid wrecking the trans. Have you ever had a problem running it like that?
You are correct. It does not have a decelerator. I wish it did. When I first got it, I did not idle down. But, now that I have a few more hours in the seat, I do. It makes for a much smoother operation. I have not experienced any issues with the transmission.
Hi I am using a 941. I don't have a float option at the bucket lift control. Do you have?

i have the opportunity to buy one its a 941 80h s/n its a little newer than yours it has a 3304 tracks are good and 1 sprocket is pretty good other needs replaced, pulled steering clutch filter and screen both had no metal or clutch material all he wants is scrap which is around $2500 + or -. has a newer engine with only 800 hrs. what do you think?
Go for it. I’m very happy with mine. Parts are still available (though, not necessarily from Cat). Good for personal use and can be used as a money maker. With just those few hours, the engine should be good.
i will let you know how it goes probably am going to have to see it run before i purchase been sitting a couple years, o ring on a couple hard lines going into hyd tank blew and was leaking oil pretty bad when he parked it he said. but illmake a video when i get it going and if i buy it!
hayden ingram definitely see it run. I was going to mention that in the previous reply, but I thought you already did that. If you can, give it a workout. Mine ended up a busted track tension cylinder.

SLHawk92 I just uploaded the video of it starting up. Needs either new brakes or adjustment of the current ones only issue other than the leaks a 50 year old tractor would have. Will make a walk around video when I acquire it.
If the fan is supposed to pull air through the radiator like most equipment, the fan is on backwards.

do you what is the weight of your machine
flecha service its a little over 23k. But, I haven’t weighed it on the scale for it’s exact weight.

couldnt you just twist the muffler by 90 degrees to get better vision ?
john dowe LOL, yes, I reckon twisting the muffler 90 degrees is an option too!!
What about spare parts?
So far, I haven’t had any issues getting the parts I need.
