Complete walkthrough of one of my favorite PS2's game: Onimusha Warlords.
In This walkthrough, I'll beat the game with the S-Rank and without taking any damage.
You'll need to kill 600 ennemies, absorbs 55 000 souls and complete the game under 3 hours in order to get the best rank.

Yes indeed, and it’s actually just as good today as it was back then.
I often revisited old games, and thought… wow this feels, plays, and looks like shit.
But Onimusha is one of those that just doesn’t age. It’s atmosphere, sounds, slaying demons, it never gets old because it’s so authentic and IMMERSIVE actually.
Man i really hope Onimusha 2 will get a re-release.
I don’t even care about a remake etc, just want to play it again

@@fanta5778 except from this nieche small community i never hear a word about it, its all about Resident Evil and Devil May Cry etc. We have to beg for a Onimusha 2 remaster which was cancelled due to disappointing sales of the Onimusha 1 remaster.
I did buy it on both Steam PC and PSN again, to “boost” the sales and comment every social trying to boost its attention for the algorithm

People are more into other games, while they forget this one or dont know about it.
I dont give up hope for Onimusha 2, but in the meantime i’ll wait for 2 great Korean IP’s: Crimson Desert and Stellar Blade
If Fallout 3 is ‘like Oblivion with guns’, then Onimusha is like resident evil with swords

Somecallmejohnny was not kidding when he stated that the English voice acting is laughably bad. At least with Japanese voice acting(Which is fitting to the game's setting), it felt natural and talented.
Just finished my own replay on the Switch port. What a great game - so many parts of the combat I have yet to master, although I can get a playthrough done in about 4 hours now. What a classic and great gameplay!
This was the first game I bought for my PS2 in middle school. But I didn’t have enough for a memory card too, so I had to just keep starting over for a few weeks. That water tile puzzle drove me nuts. I went back to this recently and it still holds up. The challenge of the floors deeper into hell to upgrade your sword was cool.
This videogame really takes me back. To think that this game would be the inspiration for both” dark and demon souls”games. For those that doubt it, all that is needed other than a in dept google search is to compare the key elements of the three games. Though there are some things that have changed there can be no doubt they are very similar.
Yeah, except FromSoftware released 4 dark souls like games before this game ever came out known as King's Field.
Onimusha feels a lot like mix of a Resident Evil game + Devil May Cry, very Capcom-esque. They are not related.
@@makokx7063King's Field didn't have dodging, parrying, or any semblance of character builds.
In those games, you pretty much explored dungeons very slowly and abused magic.
Onimusha at least has similar combat mechanics to Souls games, as well as a focus on exploration and bosses

Damn, and I thought I was pretty good at this game. Your combat skills are showing me I need to utilize my movement options a lot more!
You know, while we know the lore of Nobunaga and his story, I do wish that they would’ve went into more detail as to who were the “ogres” but man was this a great game. I got so hooked, I literally have every game that they made, even their worst ones. I hope they bring this back. I can’t imagine how beautiful this would look, especially if it was open world with you as Sam, pulling the arrow that killed Nobunaga, and fighting massive squads to get into the position needed to fire said arrow.........I’m high! Lmfao
The storyline and dialogs weren't really detailed. I really saw this while working on the french subtitles :D
I also hope this series to be revived, with other game. This series has a lot of potential, not all games have to be focused on feudal Japan. You can set story with Alexander the Great or Genghis Khan or many others great Warlords (Attila for example) such as described in the file at: 41:06
I have a feeling that Capcom probably wanted to reveal more about the Ogres in the later Onimusha series and I feel like they planned on expanding the series farther than just 3 games. But I guess there was a few articles saying that Capcom felt like the public lost interest in the Onismusha series, and there was other things too.
After finishing Dawn of Dreams, I was searching for any videos about Onimusha just to see if I could get any tips or strategies from other players. I just came across your channel and must say you have excellent content. You earned yourself a suscriber.

I just did the Remaster version of this. My only gripe, the original soundtrack. The current OST is nowhere near as good as the original soundtrack from 2001.
Also subtitles. The subs are TINY.
I didn't even know there was a remaster version.
@@livingcorpse5664 They basically remade it because the soundtrack composer turned out to be a fraud. All they did was quickly recompose, barely enhance graphics, change the subtitle size and slap in difficulties.

Speedrunning this game is a joke cause bosses aside it's all run and dodge, a walkthrough is the best way to enjoy a high level gameplay of Onimusha, this guy nailed it

What I really love this Onimusha Warlords is Kaede is the only melee kunoichi fighter that first fought the Genma in the first game of Onimusha with Samanosuke. But unfortunately, she was killed by the Demon Warrior named Gargant in Onimusha 3. That's very sad to hear that.
When I heard she was killed, I thought I missed a game.
@@STARS_Redfield It is. Because Kaede's strength is not capable enough to defeat strong opponent like Gargant when she travels and find Samanosuke during the same time in Onimusha 1 and Onimusha Blade Warriors. Kaede is rely on speed, evasion plus stealth, not power and strength.

@@STARS_Redfield When I look up at Onimusha Blade Warrior at google, Onimusha Blade Warriors is another Onimusha games that takes place after Onimusha 2. When I look up the information about Kaede, Samanosuke defeat the Demon King of the Genma and Kaede is searching for him about ten years ago that happen in Onimusha 1 and Onimusha 2 then Blade Warriors. That's how Kaede and Samanosuke worked together to fought the Demons until Kaede is being killed by Gargant.

Question: why does EVERY strategy guide I read on this game says there is an herb in the forest before dropping into the cave, on the first level...yet I can’t find a video showing where this damn herb is located?! 😅
EDIT: I just found it...it’s on the upper right corner of the forest area, just before the cave entrance. The herb looks more ‘neon green’ than the rest of the grass around it...😉

dude i am blown away by how you got through the dark realm. i'm not terrible at the game, i beat it with A rank, but the dark realm had me on tilt hardcore. i beat it on the second try but it was only by expending all of my medicine and herbs. how the fuck does anyone get through it without taking any damage? you are an absolute madman, my dude.

Nope, I loved the game.
I randomly discovered it in 2009.
I fell in love with the atmosphere.
When I first started to play it, I killed all th emonster using only the base sword.
I was the kind of guy that immediately quit and restart to the previous save if I get hit.
And not only for Onimusha, but also for Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid and many other games because I always liked to play "realisticaly".
So for this one it was OK + you can do as many save as you want.
Unlike MGS2 where you are limited to 8 save for examples and I've made a MGS2 No damage run or even RE2/3 No damage/No save :D
So actually, this discipline you can see here is just something I usually do since 20 years in my gameplay in general.

Yesterday i finished the game in 2 hours, and 39 minutes. I have absorbed 56800 souls and i´ve killed 572 enemies, plus completed 20 dark realms.
Result: A RANK
My question is, what did i do wrong ??
You need to kill 28 more ennemies.
600 kills needed for S rank. Do the firsts Dark Realm stages for 10 minutes, it should be enough.

Onimusha is one of the reasons i never started to play Souls games. Onimusha as well as Ninja Gaiden DMC etc. The bar is set soo high.
I don’t know any game like Onimusha that was as immersive as Onimusha is, and that slaying demons felt so good and satisfying

First time I played this game through, I didn't use any of the weapons moves because the anti-consumable mindset somehow extended itself to MP.
Don't know if you'll read this but, does the normal sword make Issen/Instakill counters easier? Or was that just for style points?

I did the same on Onimusha 2 where I played most of the game with only the normal sword.
that was biggest suprise for me replaying it as an adult how short the game was.
Most of older games were pretty short actually but had great replay value

Le gameplay a toujours était génial sur ces Onimusha :D
Oui j’avais jamais saisi les contres à l’époque, avec ta vidéo je les découvre et je dois dire que c’est vraiment efficace de malade...
Dans Onimusha 3, le mode de difficulté max exige de maîtriser parfaitement les contres. Autrement, les démons sont quasiment insensibles aux attaques normales.

Salut, j'ai vu certaines personnes dire qu'ils avaient normalement absorbé assez d'âmes et tué assez d'ennemis, fini le jeu en moins de trois heures et qui n'avaient pas le rang S, ne faut-il pas trouver un certain nombre de fluorines au minimum ? Même si on ne les a pas toutes quoi.

nioh is the spiritual successor to onimusha
Now finally someone with a good skill playing Onimusha, I played the same way, always parried and got those yellow soul to restore the health. Im so tired looking other player hit enemies so many times while we actually could kill them with one slash..
Onimusha 2 was more fun, if you have level 3, you could charge the sword and kill all enemies with chain slash after parried, Onimusha 3 was harder, and Onimusha 4 the easiest in series to parry the enemies..
Btw enemies in 17:05, you could parry them after blocking their rotation attack for a necessary time and hit slash button..
I baited some of them with the O key so they start the rolling attack and then I do the Issen.
But sometimes (rare), I got hit even while performing the issen.
Sinc eI found it unreliable because of that (I sometime lost some minutes of gameplay because of that), I stopped trying to Issen those guys.
Hopefully in Onimusha 2 you can Issen them without being randomly hit for no reason.
@@STARS_Redfield I issen them every single time oh yeah, but yeah that was because I have no problem being hit by them because Im not trying to make content or somethng, those yellow soul always restore the soul for me..

@@STARS_Redfield Onimusha 2 is my favorite Onimusha, one of my first game in PS2 back in 2002, it was my sophomore year in university and Im playing those game over and over again, try all the stories I could.
The 2nd is Onimusha 4..

It's called Issen
You have to pary exactly when you're going to get hit, making a perfect pary (there's a white circle to show it)
Then immediately attack.

Why can the people of Onimusha Franchise can developed another knife and kodachi for the female ninja Kaede for her to use throughout the game? Like Sacred knife, they could add ice, or fire similar appearance like the Sacred Knife.
Capcom really missed their opportunity with the Onimusha games just like Dino Crisis again
I really love the original trilogy especially 3, story wasnt the best but man the gameplay is kinda interesting for a game at its time

You mean the yellow jewel that increases your maximum health bar ?
If yes, it's because of the no damage.
Using it will increase the maximum health bar but will not replenish it. People watching the video could think I got a damage at one point.

I ran it on a i7 4770k 3.5ghz and a rtx 2080ti (or GTX 780ti, i don't remember when I upgraded my GPU)
