@@OriginalPsychoOP Leslie Neilson does psycho villain really well. He has twice played rapists in a pair of movies that could not be any different: a 70s horror movie about animals going crazy and attacking people called DAY OF THE ANIMALS, and an excellent 80s courtroom drama starring Richard Dreyfuss and Barbara Streisand called NUTS. And yes, I totally recommend the excellent 50s sci-fi FORBIDDEN PLANET - you will freaking love the soundtrack and fall in love with Robbie the Robot.
Stephen King and George Romero (the director) were both huge fans of EC horror comics of the 50s.. they grew up on em. They were so violent they were banned and accused of "corrupting youth". Romero was a horror legend by this point, having made Night of the Living Dead (1968.. one of King's favorite horror movies), Martin (70s "realistic" vampire film), The Crazies (70s version) Dawn of the Dead (1978). King was famous by this point for his books ... so this movie was the meeting of the Horror Masters of the early 80s.
Yes this a perfect storm for 80s horror I did read about the EC comics and the public outrage it’s fascinating to me especially seeing the results of those comics in the work of the fans
Leslie Nielsen was undoubtedly a great actor, only people are surprised to see him in dramatic or other roles because he is more recognized for his comedy films, here the truth appears in one of his best characters playing this great villain, no doubt he is greatly missed, this is definitely a great anthology movie one of my favorites in this style, and great reaction by the way.
This is one of my favorite horror films. Horror films from the 1980s are the best. They are the perfect combination of classic horror and modern horror. They just really knew how to bring classics into the modern world. Another 1980s horror film(s) that does that is the Fright Night franchise. (Fright Night and Fright Night Part 2).
Yes the 80s have the Best horror movies. The ones Ive seen still hold up and still give you the proper horror experience. I didnt know there was more than one Im definitely going to give them a shot thank you for the suggestions
The young boy in the prologue is Stephen King's son Joe Hill. He to turned out to be a writer like his father, if you Google him as what you currently looks like, he's spot on with his dad's looks.
I just found your channel and I am loving the thumbnail and already giving the video a Like. I’ve been watching this movie for a very long time and I am so much looking forward to your first viewing. Welcome to the Creepshow fan club. 😊
Creepshow 2 has a couple of good stories, particularly The Raft, which was a super old Stephen King story first published in a porno mag. It's worth reading, but the the film version sticks pretty close.
I just noticed after all this time that the character Henry in The Crate is of course Hal Holbrook. He’s son was in the sequel Creepshow 2. He played far stuff in Old Chief wooden head.
@@OriginalPsychoOP I collected CINEFANTASTIQUE magazine in those days, and when they did a full issue special on CS, they interviewed the "roach wrangler" who went out to bat caves and dug in dung to collect and bring all those giant roaches to set. All he had to do was dig a big hole in a dark cave, put his thick garbage bag in, put some food at the bottom, and turn out the light.....then turn it back on. The piles of roaches would pour into the bag like winter slush, and fill it to the top. The man had brass clankers, for sure, but he supplied thousands of roaches to the production.
Cool reaction. Fluffy (the monster in the box) is one of my favourite stories AND characters as that story has a story within a story (the guy trying to kill his wife and conveniently uses Fluffy to do so).
I really enjoyed that story "Fluffy" as you say was horrifying. The setup was really interesting I did enjoy the layers within the story so much info given in such a short time amazing
OMG I am so entertained watching your reactions. So funny! Also, figured out why I liked to watch your reaction videos. It's like, I don't have anyone to watch these types of movies with, but when I watch one of your videos, it's like watching the movies with an old friend and getting to hear their reactions. It's like being in an actual film club with fellow film afficionados! Edit: BTW, Leslie Nielsen used to be a serious movie actor before he went pure comedy. The first movie I ever saw him in, that was one of my favorites when I was a kid is Forbidden Planet. It is science fiction, and the monster in it is very surprising and, as I recall, pretty scary. I need to watch it again to see if it still feels the same. I just remember it wasn't the usual black-and-white flick monster, it took on a completely different shape.
Loved this reaction! I loved Creepshow as a kid and the last one with roaches always stuck with me!! So your reaction was HILARIOUS 😂 as I am the same way ...hate roaches & swarms lmaooo you had me dying 😂😂💀
Thank you 🙏🏽 This movie is so amazing it’s my favorite anthology the segments get me everyone I watch. I can’t with roaches man my skin was crawling all over.
Leslie Nielson was a fine actor. He did drama his younger years, and sci-fi, and did horror and menace quite well here, but eventually transitioned to Airplane and Naked Gun farce comedy for which he is most well remembered, but the man could do it all, he was a phenomenal actor.
Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but Fluffy the Crate Monster is supposedly a beast from an Antarctic expedition, dare I say that Fluffy may be the missing link.
In the first and third story we're dealing with a form of the Undead known as a Revenant. A Revenant is someone who brings themselves back from the dead by sheer will and they are on a quest for vengence against those they think wrong them in life ( or caused their deaths ) . A Revenant is nearly unstoppable and will kill anyone who gets in the way of their revenge. As fore the Thing the Crate the best I can come up with is that it was a Cryptid found at or near the North Pole. Just to let you know Tom Savini ( who did the FX ) said he hated working with the Cockroaches ; Tom also played the garage man with the mustache. CREEPSHOW was based on the old EC Comics published in the 1950's ( TALES FROM THE CRYPT, VAULT OF HORROR , THE WITCHING HOUR ). But that's a big long story. Another little factoid , the Skeleton Creature in the window was made with a real human skeleton.
That’s so amazing I never knew that. I honestly thought it was the Jim beam lol but that’s really a way better explanation 🙏🏽 yes I’ve heard a few explanations for Fluffy either way it’s a terrifying creature.
@@OriginalPsychoOP I've got great film for you to check out. A docu-horror called THE LEGEND OF BOGGY CREEK. When you review I'll tell you something very interesting.
The two garbage guys at the end, the one on the left with the moustache is Tom Savini. He did all the makeup effects for this movie and for Romero's zombie movies. He also did the effects for From Dusk to Dawn, and he appeared in it as the guy with the crotch gun. Stephen King wrote all the stories.
I love Creepshow, classic. Saw it on TV all the time in the early-mid 80s. Our Lakers have been sthg of a creepshow this yr, but can't contend every year.
@@OriginalPsychoOP As far as 80s horror vignette movies go, the only other 2 that stand out to me are Stephen King's Cat's Eye (1985) and Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983). You may have heard/seen one or both, but I'm 45, so maybe they're new to you? If not, my apologies. Cat's Eye had stories linked by a cat that ran thru each. A young Drew Barrymore was in it. TZ was directed by John Landis (Amer Werewolf In London), Spielberg, Joe Dante (The Howling 1/Gremlins) and George Miller of Mad Max fame. Some segments are better than others, but a major thing that happened was the death of 3 actors, 2 of them were little kids. During Landis' segment, actor Vic Morrow and 2 kids were walking across a pond made to look like a rice paddy and a helicopter above them was dislodged from its mooring by a pyrotechnic explosion and they were unfortunately in the worst possible line of the prop which came down on them and decapitated and crushed all 3. Landis got sued, I'm pretty sure Spielberg was named as well. The footage of the accident is out there, I believe it was evidence shown in the trial, but that's prob only because the water splashed up on them obscuring the gore.
She mentions in the intro that she's already seen Creepshow 2. But you know what? I haven't! For some reason, I assumed it wasn't good! I'll check it out!
The boy in the beginning is Stephen King’s son Joe. He’s actually a writer himself, and has told the story of him and his dad on the set of the movie. He goes by Joe Hill for his works, but he’s a good writer.
Ooh man, right when you got to the last chapter and were like, "I don't like roaches..!", I could feel the little 'ohhhh shit.' charging up in me. Glad you got to check this movie out though, it is a landmark achievement in filmmaking and genre adaptation. Of course, when you got George Romero and Stephen King running the show, what else can one expect? We're coming up on October tomorrow too, the month of frights.. I look forward to enjoying more from ya!
Thank you for the support. Yes this movie is amazing it’s hands down of one of the best anthologies. You’re right what else do you expect from horror legends working together.
Since no one enjoys the final tale with the cockroaches, I'm not surprised that WILLARD (1971) isn't brought up too often. This is a film about a young tormented fellow who has a few pet rats. And they have a few friends. Like... tens of thousands... bullies don't like rats either, it turns out. The next year, there's a follow-up film about some of Willard's surviving pals (led by Ben) finding another bullied lad to protect. These are disappointing in the tension department, but the fact remains: swarms of anything are the stuff of nightmares.
This is my favourite video yet. Go back before this though and watch "Tales From the Crypt". Creepshow and the Crypt keeper character came from that and the original comics. If you plan to watch George A Romeros "of the dead" series, skip the original Night of the Living Dead and treat the 1990 remake as the first. It was written by George as he didn't like his original "Barbara" character but was directed by horror icon, Tom Savini
Thank you for the suggestion I’ll definitely give that one a go I loved tales from the crypt when I was younger . Thank you for the information I wasn’t aware he wrote both I don’t really know much about the remake

The scene with the Roaches was the most expensive to make in the movie because of the cost of the roaches. There was no CGI in the early 80s, the effects had to be real.
Wait a minute they had to buy those millions of roaches what I. The world . Honestly wouldn’t have thought about that but it makes sense. Now I’m curious to know how much roaches cost wow thank your for that info
@@OriginalPsychoOP I think the real shocker is that they didn't getting any real trouble for killing the roaches you see onscreen getting crushed. Nowadays I don't think even if they're insects is a production allowed to kill them.
The Crate had a name on the outside. Julia Carpenter in the Artic, a nod to The Thing, directed by Adrianne 'Just call me Billie' Barbau's then husband, John Carpenter.
The roaches were the most expensive special effect, and a huge portion of the film’s total budget!! Because they were all real with no props. I read somewhere they paid about 50 cents per roach. And of course they bought thousands of them! 😆
That’s such an amazing fun fact. Very interesting I’m sure if it was made today everything would be CGI. That story will forever be effective because of the practicality. Thank you for that
I laughed pretty hard when you started with I hate roaches then swarms, holy crap you're in luck there are roaches in swarms all over the place, I mean like if you hated both of those things that episode is the perfect storm of swarms of roaches in a confined space with roach scuttle sounds up the wazoo. then they top it off with the swarms coming out of him fucking lol.
Leslie Neilsen from airplane/naked gun is suitably creepy and bad love that, he was also in forbidden planet, he was a major star then his career went down but comedy reinvigorated it, he was in a couple of episodes of columbo, , the tasmanian devil was a cartoon, as in pink elephants in the movie dumbo. when he get drunk
Know its a long shot, but you should check out and react to the "Creepshow"tv series! It's just finished its third season as of this October, I believe. Each episode is usually 2 stories and its done in the similar anthology style, with the comic book intro's and exits(and some are even written by Joe Hill, son of Stephen King(who plays Billy in this one!)
Not a long shot at all I plan on doing shows I just have to work out the timing and format thank you for the suggestion. I love Creepshow so I’m looking forward to the show.
Yeah... Tales from the Crypt was actually first... the comic book, that is... from the 1950s. Those old EC horror comics were amazing! There also was a 1972 British movie, Tales from the Crypt, that adapted some of the comic stories... so that is another horror anthology movie of the Creepshow model.
I rewatched Creepshow today, then I wanted to rewatch your video. good job! The making-of documentary, "Just Desserts" is worth watching. But this time also got me wondering if you've seen the V/H/S movies?
I saw Creepshow 2 when I was between 5 and 7, and also saw Johnny Be Good and A Nightmare On Elm Street 4 during the same period, but was prevented from watching any of the Friday The 13th movies because of their reputation.
You should have been with me doing late night German roach cleanouts at restaurants in the early 90s. All around the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. You will lose your gag reflex after wearing a respirator.
Ted Dansen was apparently worried about his little daughter getting scared by his zombie makeup. When she saw him, he readied himself to comfort and reassure her. Instead, she looked up at him, said, 'Hi Dad,' and just kept walking.
I loved this as a kid (watched it with the family and we just laughed and laughed...weird family - still love 'em). I even have the original comic! And that is Stephen King with the 'meteor shit' on him... But... I always hated the roaches!
The husband and wife (Hal Holbrook and Adrienne Barbeau) from The Crate segment were both good in 'The Fog' by John Carpenter. You should try some of the 60's Amicus anthologies like 'Tales from the Crypt', 'Doctor Terror's House of Horrors', 'Vault of Horror' and 'Asylum'. The original anthology was 'Dead of Night' from the 40's which was great too! Try some classic Vincent Price like 'The Abominable Dr Phibes' or 'Theatre of Blood'. For Stephen King, try to squash-down the original Salem's Lot with David Soul or the underrated 'Dead Zone'.
Thank you so much for the suggestions. I love Vincent price went on a discovery binge when I discovered him on 13 ghosts of Scooby Doo. Im always up for some older horror much appreciated
George Romero directed the movie. Stephen King was going to play his segment straight, but Romero wanted it to be campy, so he told King to play it like Wile E Coyote.
@@OriginalPsychoOP I see you’ve done Tales from the dark side. My favorite episode was, “Anniversary Dinner”! Omgosh, it scared me so badly the first time I saw it. My mom was watching it, and I fell asleep. When she woke me up and we went upstairs, I asked her what happened. She told me and it shook me for a long time.
Now... just imagine seeing this is a theater, filled with hundreds of people whom all insist they hate roaches The Most. A dark theater. With sticky, unclean floors. Chairs that have questionable hygiene. Arms for those chairs... and even when this has been shown more recently at film-festivals, that dark theater, the aisle carpeting, those floors - it's still HORRIFYING like no other movie. @@SouthJerseySam no I recognize the irony. I was just adding a fun fact into it lol. My apologies.
Much respect to you for being one of the first reactors to react to one of the greatest anthology movies ever! This is one of my favorite movies! 😃🙂
I Love anthologies so this one was a pleasure. Its definitely in my top of horror movies.
Yes this a perfect storm for 80s horror
I did read about the EC comics and the public outrage it’s fascinating to me especially seeing the results of those comics in the work of the fans
Creepshow is one of my favorites! You should watch Leslie Nielsen in Day of the Animals.
Same it’s one of the best anthologies 🙌🏽. Sounds fun never heard of it but lol I’ll definitely give it a watch
The grandfather at 2:58 looks like Bernie Sanders!!!😉
😂😂😂😂 now I can’t unsee it
Leslie Nielsen was undoubtedly a great actor, only people are surprised to see him in dramatic or other roles because he is more recognized for his comedy films, here the truth appears in one of his best characters playing this great villain, no doubt he is greatly missed, this is definitely a great anthology movie one of my favorites in this style, and great reaction by the way.
Stephen King’s Cat’s Eye is another great 80s horror anthology.
I just found this movie on a streaming service definitely going to give it a go thank you for the suggestion
Cat's Eye has some great segments in it. And you have to love cute, little kid Drew Barrymore in it. :-)
The guy who was buried in sand is Ted danson from one of the great shows from the 80s cheers
And Ed Harris was in the first segment... he's the one who gets his head crushed by the headstone.
The art Comic work is Legendary
The young boy in the prologue is Stephen King's son Joe Hill. He to turned out to be a writer like his father, if you Google him as what you currently looks like, he's spot on with his dad's looks.
Really loved your reaction. This is a one of a kind horror classic!
Loved ur reaction too the crate creature aka fluffy 😂my fav story of the bunch 💪💪💪
It's worth reading, but the the film version sticks pretty close.
the moment you said you didn't like roaches i giggled, i knew what was coming.
I wasnt prepared for that at all. Thank you for the comment
I just noticed after all this time that the character Henry in The Crate is of course Hal Holbrook. He’s son was in the sequel Creepshow 2. He played far stuff in Old Chief wooden head.
That’s an awesome fun fact thank you 🙏🏽
When you said you hated roaches and roach swarms, I knew the end would get you...and it did. Wow.
Yes I wasn’t prepared for that. So many roaches and they ate through him 😱 it got me good
@@OriginalPsychoOP I collected CINEFANTASTIQUE magazine in those days, and when they did a full issue special on CS, they interviewed the "roach wrangler" who went out to bat caves and dug in dung to collect and bring all those giant roaches to set.
This came out as a comic book first, it was intense too.
One of my favourites here and cool to meet ya, subbed and looking forward to the vids! cheers 🤘☠
Thank you 🙏🏽 for the support much appreciate the positive comment
Cool reaction. Fluffy (the monster in the box) is one of my favourite stories AND characters as that story has a story within a story (the guy trying to kill his wife and conveniently uses Fluffy to do so).
I really enjoyed that story "Fluffy" as you say was horrifying. The setup was really interesting I did enjoy the layers within the story so much info given in such a short time amazing
@@OriginalPsychoOP like your reaction when you saw fluffy kill those people. Oh you was wondering what fluffy is... It's a Yeti/Abominable Snowman.
AH, A CHILDHOOD MOVIE FOR ME. IT'S A TIMELESS CLASSIC!
Leslie Nielson was a fine actor. He did drama his younger years, and sci-fi, and did horror and menace quite well here, but eventually transitioned to Airplane and Naked Gun farce comedy for which he is most well remembered, but the man could do it all, he was a phenomenal actor.
Yes I had only seen him in the comedic roles and was shook seeing his menacing betrayal the man had an amazing range
Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but Fluffy the Crate Monster is supposedly a beast from an Antarctic expedition, dare I say that Fluffy may be the missing link.
The missing link that makes perfect sense i did see the address on the crate. I love that the monster's name is Fluffy how awesome
@@OriginalPsychoOP thank Tom Savini for the ironic moniker
Great John Harrison score.
Creepshow 1 and 2 are AWESOME!!
@@OriginalPsychoOP You should have seen the pictures they took with it in Tom Savini's first book. They nicknamed it Fluffy and he looks kind of cute.
@@danddoty3981 I’ve seen a few this movie had me digging through the filming process and behind the scenes.
Yes I recognize him as Sex Machine but couldnt think of his real name thank you for that
I love Creepshow, classic. Saw it on TV all the time in the early-mid 80s. Our Lakers have been sthg of a creepshow this yr, but can't contend every year.
Absolutely a classic my favorite horror Anthology. Yes they have hopefully they can creep up in the playoffs
CreepShow Is My Joint! 👏🏾
Nicee you'll have to watch creepshow 2 aswell
Both are classic if you ask me
@@troublenabubble2571 definitely are

lol! I remembered that creepy moments about roaches when I was a kid, oh man. Good movie.
Those roaches had me shook and I was not even almost prepared for that story. Thank you for the comment
The Crate was my favorite one. I laughed when you said "That one was dark!" just as The Crate started. I was like "Oh, just wait." lol
The boy in the beginning is Stephen King’s son Joe. He’s actually a writer himself, and has told the story of him and his dad on the set of the movie. He goes by Joe Hill for his works, but he’s a good writer.
Thank you for the info I looked him up and Ive heard of his story "in the tall grass" didnt even know he was stephen kings son but he does favor him
Best anthology ever. The Tales from the Crypt is another great anthology.
I agree this is my favorite of the ones Ive seen so far.
You kept wondering what the creature was in the crate. It's name was Fluffy. And that's all the makeup artist and the filmmaker let us know.
Fluffly hahahaha thats adorably creepy but fitting
This is a good movie. I love this one and Creepshow II.
Both are Amazing zombie movies and add so much to the lore
This is my favourite video yet.
Go back before this though and watch "Tales From the Crypt".
Creepshow and the Crypt keeper character came from that and the original comics.
If you plan to watch George A Romeros "of the dead" series, skip the original Night of the Living Dead and treat the 1990 remake as the first.
It was written by George as he didn't like his original "Barbara" character but was directed by horror icon, Tom Savini
Thank you for the suggestion I’ll definitely give that one a go
I loved tales from the crypt when I was younger . Thank you for the information I wasn’t aware he wrote both I don’t really know much about the remake
I'm gonna disagree with that. Although the remake of Night of the Living Dead is better, the original is still a classic. Both should be watched.
@@Jim_Jam I would agree with that, they are both good and should be watched.

The original Night of the Living Dead should be watched, at least to experience how atmospheric it is.

The scene with the Roaches was the most expensive to make in the movie because of the cost of the roaches. There was no CGI in the early 80s, the effects had to be real.
Well there was CGI but it was expensive and it would not look anywhere near as real.
Wait a minute they had to buy those millions of roaches what I. The world . Honestly wouldn’t have thought about that but it makes sense. Now I’m curious to know how much roaches cost wow thank your for that info

Oh my goodness lol what a terribly awful combination perfect storm is right I wasn’t expecting it. Thank you for the comment

This seemed to inspire tales from the crypt
This was inspired by the Tales from the Crypt Comics
Yeah... Tales from the Crypt was actually first... the comic book, that is... from the 1950s. Those old EC horror comics were amazing! There also was a 1972 British movie, Tales from the Crypt, that adapted some of the comic stories... so that is another horror anthology movie of the Creepshow model.
I remember 30 yrs ago my mom actually had the comic book for this. It’s pretty scary itself
I rewatched Creepshow today, then I wanted to rewatch your video. good job! The making-of documentary, "Just Desserts" is worth watching. But this time also got me wondering if you've seen the V/H/S movies?
Hard to pick my favorite from this awesome movie. “I hate roaches”, this one will give you nightmares.
One of my favorite movies
Horror Anthology at its finest
I saw Creepshow 2 when I was between 5 and 7, and also saw Johnny Be Good and A Nightmare On Elm Street 4 during the same period, but was prevented from watching any of the Friday The 13th movies because of their reputation.
Thats incredible I watched horror as a youngin as well. Interesting what kind of reputation would that have that is different from the others.
You should have been with me doing late night German roach cleanouts at restaurants in the early 90s. All around the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. You will lose your gag reflex after wearing a respirator.
This is one of my favorite movies ever! So fucking cool.
Ted Dansen was apparently worried about his little daughter getting scared by his zombie makeup. When she saw him, he readied himself to comfort and reassure her. Instead, she looked up at him, said, 'Hi Dad,' and just kept walking.
That’s awesome lol I thought it was quite frightening
I wish we had more horror anthology films
VHS was an anthology with found footage.
Yes I do too. It such a great way of story telling and gives such a good variety of the genre. I have heard of that on it's one my list.
I loved this as a kid (watched it with the family and we just laughed and laughed...weird family - still love 'em).
I even have the original comic!
And that is Stephen King with the 'meteor shit' on him...
But...
I always hated the roaches!
I love this movie. It could've been fun to watch with family but my family doesn't do horror. The roaches get me every time I absolutely hate roaches
I hope others have mentioned CAT'S EYE as another and pretty darned good horror anthology film, very similar to this.
Yes I’ve put that on my list. Thank you for the suggestion
