- So you don't bath a fennec unless they need it and you only get them as wet as needed. Vast majority of times they will not need to go under a faucet or in a tub. You want to avoid their getting wet, like mugwais, because of the risk of matting and it takes them a long time to dry, it can even lead to skin fungus in humid climates due to slow drying.
When I said he was stinky I think that was from expressing his anal glands and not from what was on him.
I gave him some sandbox worms and he forgave me and came to lay near me again later. He just didn't know why I was accosting him but he knew something was up beforehand.

I felt bad seeing him feel so nervous over the washing, but it had to be done! I wonder if there's a way to gradually get him to learn that it's not bad so he won't panic like that in the future though.
He did need it and that spot on his but would likely have turned to a mat if not washed out.
The vast majority of fennecs hate being picked up and held. It's instinct, in the wild if something picks them up it's a predator about to eat them. In hindsight if I had fed him his meals while holding him in my lap as a kit instead of just giving them to him that could have helped. I don't want to mess with his current feeding schedule as he had issues keeping weight on for awhile till I starting feeding him a morning chick then dinner later. But in some cases you can portion out their daily amount of food and give it to them as rewards for the behavior you want.
I need to try with green beans since he goes nuts for them. Will still be slow step by step getting him accustomed to being next to, then next to and touched, then on and touched then hopefully picked up and remain calm for green beans.

When you feed him green beans, are they cooked or raw? I'm asking because raw one's are poisonous to some extent, at least to humans. And I'm always worried for foxes, in an unhealthy way I guess, lol. I'm also very glad that you don't put him in a tub. It's clearly not natural for them to have their fur shampooed.

I can't find any legit cite like government or real medical site that says that's true but they were cooked.

Toxicity comes from pesticides sprayed on uncooked, harvested plants before they are harvested. Supposedly the pesticides wash off with water, but I don't think I trust Monsonto that their pesticides, just "wash off". Probably best to cook it just to be on the safe side.
