Why do the women have to give up their own competition
You're right. But this is the thing... by nature of their natural openness, acceptance and compassion, they won't take a stand against it until after they and many other women and girls have materially suffered or been damaged and it then personally resonates with them. It needs to be addressed as a matter of principle before someone gets hurt but the ones who would do that are labeled as misogynistic, patriarchal and oppressive. I sympathize and feel for them but they (some) are getting exactly what they, their mothers and grandmothers protested for. Their daughters and granddaughters pay the price.
Men don't get off the hook either.
This has been a sudden cultural shift and many of these Olympians have been training their entire lives. Families making huge sacrifices. THEY shouldn't be the ones who have to throw it all away.

Your frankly unrealistic scenario of a person born with 6 fully functional arms doesn't actually contribute anything to a debate about a real situation that we are talking about. And your solution to ban a biological woman from female sports doesn't seem like it has much basis in science or fairness. If she had some demonstrable advantage over the female competitors then maybe you'd have a point but her loss record is higher than her win record and she got knocked out in the quarter finals in 2020 so it's not like she even has any clear advantage.
@@crisppxlsshe wasn't born female. She was born with XY chromosomes and is technically intersex but zero females have XY chromosomes. Biologically this person is far closer to being fully male than female. There would be no genetic argument against her competing with males because she is XY.
Perhaps you don't understand but she has internal testicles that still produce testosterone the same as any man's do. I'm sorry but this person can't compete against women. It's wrong and it's so dangerous. The IOC made the wrong decision allowing her to compete.
None of this is fair and it's so bizarre to me people choose to allow potentially deadly consequences take place rather than deal with reality.

All people are male or female, even when they have an intersex condition. The DNA test of this athlete showed they have XY chromosomes and produce testosterone levels not produced in human females.

This olympics in France will be the worst ever
It would be unfair to judge the games because of what happened in one sport. This should be taken as a lesson for future games, though. What is weird is that this had happened before, when countries in the other side of the Iron Curtain used to place transgender athletes in women's categories, and they had already been banned back then.

Said as much to my husband. The hypocrisy is outrageous. To me it's the same thing. If it's not alright in our society for a man to beat on a woman (which it is definitely NOT alright) then it shouldn't be alright for a man to beat on a woman in a ring.

Was the boxer male or legit intersex? I'm unclear. They're not the same thing. If the rules are they must compete as the gender they are born as, and the boxer listed as female at birth and always identified as female, then no rules were broken. It sounds like they may need to develop more granular rules based on other markers and hormone levels.

Yup. They think that it is entirely determined by testosterone, and that the only difference is strength also. Tendons and ligaments are stronger, higher RBC count, differences in hip structure give strength advantages, the muscle of men has more force production with the same amount of muscle, and there is many more advantages. It’s completely unscientific. It’s pseudoscience to push an agenda.

To Jessica's point about testing testosterone levels. There is still physiology to consider. Males have superior upper body strength and other physical advantages that can't be diminished by low testosterone levels.
Also, she says this wouldn't have been an issue years ago. That'scnot true. Decades ago at one Olympics, athletes disputed the participation in Women's track of a runner whom it was revealed was intersex.

It goes so much farther then just testosterone levels. There are hundreds of anatomical differences between males and females down to the cellular level. Males have larger veins, lungs, stronger bones, narrower hips, faster fast twitch muscles, on average twice the upper body strength as females, etc. These are all relevant in high performance athletes where even small margins matter big time. We have banned blood dopping, which all that is when athlete has his blood drawn, stored for a week then injected back into his own body, because it gives him a slight mitochondrial and oxygen absorbing edge. But if a non-athlete person does blood dopping you probably won’t notice a thing. So this all insane.

The female analyst is claiming that "biology is much more complicated than we have gender assigned at birth." Actually, it is NOT at all complicated! It's much simpler and scientific. The "transgender" issue (apart from very rare intersex cases that are less than 0.001% of the population) are PSYCHOLOGICAL cases rather than biological cases. A "trans" person is someone who doesn't feel (psychologically) like their are mentally the gender of their body. So, the BEST test for sports is a mere XY chromosome test. If you have an XY chromosome, then you're a male. You need to compete as a male.

Without a DNA test or x-ray, no one would be able to tell that she is intersex. In this scenario, it isn't psychological at all but entire biological.

"It's not a real competition if one athlete is much stronger than the other"? What does that have to do with a man fighting against a woman? I know a batamweight boxer who used to take down opponents much bigger and stronger than he was. He was just a better boxer. @@polyguns Not really. The men's division is kinda the de-facto open division. If a woman wants to compete there, it's normally OK. The men's division was not created to exclude women. It really only exists because someone created a women's division. But the women's division was very specifically created to exclude men.
If the gender pay gap is to be believed (and it isn't), they'd get paid more for competing against men. And that still isn't enough for any takers.
