An oldie, but a goodie. This module when I first started learning over a year ago was the module I tried so many times and never understood. and once you understand it, it just becomes a staple module that is useful for so many things. I definitely recommend people really take in this vid and play lots with Rampage. Modulations, waveshaping, envelopes. Such a good all rounder.
Totally! It's like the Papa Smurf of VCV Rack... The thing is, as soon as you add it to your patch, already you open up so many doors to so many interesting sonic possibilities.

Wonderful tutorial!!! I just dig into VCV and downloaded all free modules. It's such a nice modular synth. Your tutorial of this modul is great BUT....that break on minute 16 was a shock :o)
I've been using only 10% of this module's capabilities. Wow! Thanks Omri. As usual a bunch of creative ideas to try. And, as usual, some stuff I wasn't expecting--like the 'bass drone' at about 14:00 which I've been trying to duplicate. Cheers

And in all honesty I think VCV is probably one of the best things to ever happen in the world of virtual music making. The fact that it is free and open source is a gift from heaven :)
I studied synthesis a long time ago, and kind of deserted it and learned to play piano and composition. VCV Rack just brought everything back to me and intensified it. And yes, VCV Rack is a great thing, we should all be very grateful... There are some modules that I can consider as my favorites. I really love Tangents from Vult, I think it sounds amazing. I love also the Segment Generator from Audible Instruments, I think it's a very "simple" module, but also very deep. I really enjoy the Geodesics collection, I think there is a lot of potential in these modules, and I also use the FM Operator from Bogaudio a lot. I think that the fact that it has a built-in envelope is an interesting thing, and it sounds great. I love its feedback function, it adds so much character to the sound. There are many more modules I like actually... :)
great video. question for you. around 37:07 you add a second quantizer. can you not run both row 1 and row 2 from the sequencer through a single quantizer? would this affect the voltage. similarly, i notice you use multipliers in places where it seems you don't have to but maybe you actually do because "double patching" would affect voltage? for example, so far i have only used mults for if an input or output won't let me put to things into or out of it but i'm beginning to suspect that voltage needs to be maintained and that is what a mult does and also why you added that dedicated quantizer for each row in the sequencer. is that correct?
Hi! Well, about the quantizers, if I would mix the rows and send them to the quantizer, I would get the sum of both rows and this will give me only one sequence, but I want to have 2 separate ones. This video was made in an earlier version of VCV and polyphony was not yet available, but now, in the new version of VCV, you can use polyphony and have only one quantizer process up to 16 different sequences. About the mults, there is no real need to use mults in VCV, and I actually stopped using them since they introduce delay. In VCV, you will not lose voltage when using more than one cable so there's no real need to use mults. In hardware it's a bit different since there are passive and buffered mults, which give different results of course. Does this make sense?
Hi Omri, this video is one of the best as well! I`ve already asked you about the also great Sample and hold tutorial, i hope i may ask you on more question? I have already spent hours to get a solution for this problem, but i`m nut sure, if there it is at all. If i use the rampage as a slew limiter to get some portamento/glide notes (pitch information comes from a sequencer), is there a way to influence the time of the "gliding"? I mean for example, if the rising phase between 1V and 3V takes 1sec, then between 1V and 9V takes 3s, is there a way to automatically change the rise and fall time between notes, so that it takes always the same lenght in time independently of the pitch? It would be important rhythmically by a slow change between notes. Thank you in advance!
Feel free to ask :) If you know on which steps you need slower or faster times, you can use another sequencer and sequence the Rise and Fall times via their CV inputs. If you use the individual inputs, it will work as expected but if you use the exp input, it will be inverted so positive voltage will result in shorter times. I hope it makes sense.

I use the seq 3, 8 step sequence with different voltages, kind of random. For example between the step 3 and 4 there are 6V difference. It takes time to glide. But between step 4 and 5 just 2V. Its much faster to rise or fall. I would like to set the rise or fall time between step 3 and 4 faster, and between step 4 and 5 slower (with an "automation"), so they will be equal. And by all steps the same, even if the original sequence changes randomly. Is there even a way to do that? The gate lenght is always the same from the clock in the sequence, but the rise or fall phase takes a piece from this gate lenght (so the actually time of the sustained voice will be shorter) and vice versa: with two voltages relatively close to each other (7V to 8V), the time of the rise or fall phase will be shorter, so the sustained voice will be longer. I just dont understand how can i set them to be always the same...Thanks for your help :)
It's a shame the MSM modules are no longer available at the VCV library... I couldn't find a similar dual delay to follow the tutorial on my own... Omri, do you have a suggestion for a similar dual delay module? Thanks in advance!
Well, what it will do is take the lowest values at any given moment from both envelopes so if both are at zero, it will output also zero volts. That's why when only one envelope is active, there will come nothing out of the min output.

Yes, I hope that MSM will be available soon... In the mean time, you can use Chronoblob 2 which is also a really nice delay module.
