    Wonderful Video Marty. So many of us forget to slow down and look at life's little wonders. i see many people running through life and are missing the important things. I see guys run around in high power boats , from spot to spot looking for "fish". when really if they would slow down and look they will seek what they are looking for. I once saw these two guys pull into dock in the latest Bass boat, they had about 20 fishing poles, boxes of lures, and sonar that would have made a sub captain happy. They had caught no fish,and were fighting about unloading the boat. At this time, two kids came in paddling a canoe, with a BIG stringer of fish. they had two poles total and a cup of worms. Sometimes less is more and slow is better. This week my wife lost her father, this reminded me to appreciate the little things for there is no guarantee to life. so yeah man, check out the little stuff. No snow yet in Jersey but we did get ice and rain on the boat cover and the yaks are in a deep winters nap. Doug

    Nice tour Marty. I see that power plant all the way from St Pete when I get out to film sunrises from North Shore park. And there is a really nice palm tree arboretum in that same park you should check out next time you are over this way.

    I visited it today, first time in a few years and they have added much to it since I was there! There were many people there enjoying the great weather. I saw all the fish you spoke of and saw several Black Tipped Sharks swimming on the side of a few Manatee's. It was a beautiful day!

    This video just wanted me to go fishing in florida. I live far in southeast asia but when i see your videos, i could feel how it's feel to go fishing in America. Always looking forward to your video because you're so humble and calm guy who love fishing, unlike the other channel where they brag any kind of fishes they catch arrogantly. Keep your line tight buddy :)

    Great video! The viewing center is a great asset for us in the Tampa Bay area. I agree, we are very fortunate to be living here in Florida and surrounded by amazing nature :)

  • @shanek6582
    @shanek6582 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Everyone thinks that what comes out of those stacks is fumes from burning the coal but the actual fumes are ran through scrubbers first and are pretty clean anymore. Some stacks are dry system and those are wet. What your seeing there is actually just water vapors mixed in with the clear exhaust and aren't as harmful as everyone assumes. The short fat hour glass shaped cooling towers everyone sees emit only steam. The warm water coming out of the plant isn't from cooling the turbines, it's from cooling the high pressure steam that turns the turbine in a totally different area. American power plants get a bad wrap but we've made them pretty clean, especially compared to the plants in China, Mexico, and India.

    Hey Marty, nice tour. Always love your trips into the wild places. My hubby and I enjoy your videos on weekend mornings with a cup of coffee. While we live in upper Michigan's Les Cheneaux Islands, our favorite Florida destination is Sanibel Island just south of you off Fort Myers. We highly recommend the Ding Darling Sanctuary there. Several kayak launch sites and trail systems make for many exciting fishing and wildlife opportunities.

  • @blakeherrick
    @blakeherrick 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You need to go back there and film the sharks jumping. It is the most amazing wildlife spectacle I have seen in person. They were going off like crazy yesterday morning. You might have luck if you go today. They open at 10. Trust me, you could make such an incredible video of this. There were at least a dozen different animals, some huge, some smaller. Some get completely out of the water and twirl 1080 degrees. Attach a couple cameras to the posts along the walkway for different angles and edit out the jumps. The plant in the background is such a dramatic scene. You would go viral with this one if done properly.

    One of the best fishing spots in the bay, before 9/11 whenever they closed all access near the plant. You used to be able to walk right under the coal cherry picker and fish there, what a wonderful spot to fish back in the day.

    If you want to catch those Jacks and Tarpon in the winter take your kayak to the outside of the manatee viewing center early in the morning when the sun is rising. Great topwater action with huge jack crevalle with just about every cast. We have also caught Tarpon and blacktip sharks there, and lost some big cobia. We've noticed the fishing tends to cool down around 9:00am so it is vital to fish it early.

    Well done Marty!
    Cant believe you just drove past all those handy solar panels. A couple of those would have been so handy for the big boat ;) Just kidding bud.
    I wonder how much any negative press the power plant "was" receiving, went down when they built and opened the Manatee Centre there?? Yeah, I know, ever the cynic. But hey, its just the way my mind works. I dont trust big companies. That said, I think they have done a particularly great job for both education and tourism. Keeping the cost down to zero, for the visitor, is also a big plus in my book too.
