When we travel as tourists from London we've always come across taxi drivers who try and overcharge, or just take the 'scenic' route if on meter. This has happened in India, Mexico, Dubai, Cairo, Morocco, NY and other countries. As you know you'll come across all sorts of people across all walks of life.
