@Rohit, I'm sure Burman Dada would have remembered his mother Nirupama Devi, who was a princess from the royal family of Manipur. His eyes would have been wet while singing.

Very informative interview on getting connected to Dada. Look fowrard to sharing his experiences with Dada Burman while composing songs, way of selecting playback singers etc.
Kawish, I had the same question in mind. Yogeshji was a very simple human being. He has written so many good songs yet did not get a single award all his life. These awards are result of a lot of lobbying and PR efforts, yogeshji lacked these skills. He used to live in goregaon west very close to where I used to stay. I have seen him many a times he was known to my uncle a very down to earth person. If he had used PR during his career he would have been much more famous then many of the other lyrics writers. Due to lack of publicity he was never nominated for an award.
Pancham used to say, When Barman Saab wud b gone, there wl b a vacuum. Not jus bcoz of his songs. But the kind of personality he ws. He never went to producers for job. On the contrary he used to refuse film makers from giving his music, even big banners. SDB lived in his own world with his own reservations. The world hs always respected people who hs self-respect, n Barman Saab ws one such personality.
What you true about SD Burman is 100% true. I have proofs for such information on SD Burman. I have also many proofs of Pancham praising his father, during his interviews and in published articles. I have audio of Pancham speak in glowing terms about his father. Dada was a 'Dada' of film industry, respected by everyone.
After seeing the picturisation of his song, if he didn't like it, SD used to say, 'Hamara gaana ko waste kar diya' irrespective of whichever banner the film ws. He ws such a cut throat person, once he told singer Mukesh on his face, Tum thoda besura gaate ho. SD never compromised with his self-respect. He ws a great personality. Such a person wl never b found again.
Motiji, Its overwhelming to get the real feel of what was SD Burman through your videos..& Yogeshji is a man who has seen it all, how to make a mark in life against all odds.. very simple man. Would like to personally chat with you sometime in Mumbai when I visit (my in-laws residence in Santacruz), or Bangalore if you visit.

Very good interview Dada. Your summary is too descriptive. Please keep some suspense there so that viewer listen to Yogesh ji till end. The style is informal and he is not narrating, as if he is confessing. So nice of him.
Excellent. really exciting and interesting. Is it possible to find out how Dada gave the tune on tape for Yogesh ji to write on. Did he sing the tune in his own voice, may be using Bengali working lyrics ? Is that tape still thee with Yogesh ji ? What an archival value it would be.
Dada used to sing to explain and sing the tune to Yogesh, who would tape record and take home to write lyrics. He had the mini tape recorder in which the smaller tapes were used, if you remember that. As per Yogesh he lost all those tapes during his severe illness when his weight reduced to some 36 kg and he almost lost his life. Fortunately he recovered not knowing what happened to the tapes.
