That 'Festival of Light' shot was stunning! Kudos well deserved. And don't worry about the beard. You're handsome enough with or without it - not many people can pull that off, but you can.
Thanks Ben. Actually I know all the things you say in this video but as it's kinda new to me to shoot in 360 and 180... Well it's good to be reminded these simple things.
Great video Ben! Please could you give me some basic info (or link) how you edited the 360 photo into the short zoomed out shot? It looked really awesome!! Thanks!
Hi ben please do another in-depth SC2 video on how you would use it with the settings! There are almost no good videos on youtube and i know if you made a couple they would be hits.
Great new look Ben. The photographs you took look more clear. Great video. Waiting for the Z1 to be released in Canada. How is the manual adjustability on the Thera Z1 in comparison the other cameras up to $1500 ?
Cheers Ben for yet another great video. On the One X - do you know if there is a setting for adding GPS data in interval shooting mode? Did a hike and all images got the start point GPS data.
Hi Ben, following up your advice i edited a 360 photo from my insta360 x3 using retouch. i have two major problems: 1)after retouch i cannot return to insta360 to add logo on the nadir point 2)if i export from retouch and upload to google maps the file is no longer visible as a 360 dome, its simply a flat photo. What is your solution on the workflow ? best regards, George
Great stuff Ben - thanks. I have a settings question for you. I need to shoot a 360 photo of a TV demo room at a small shop - all the TV's (10 of them) will be on and playing different videos/ sports ect. Any suggestion as to how I can get the best image in this environment?
Great photos and this Insta360X is pretty amazing in that it allows RAW and manual settings. NOW, how do you make the little clips that show the 360 image like you did after every finished shot where you say "Here's what I got"? Is that done just by rotating and keyframes? I don't see how to do that in the InstaX editor. Is there a way to convert the still image to a movie file and output like that?
@@BenClaremont Thanks Ben... so I'll look that up. I assume I can use Final Cut for the same result?

Would you consider getting the Ricoh Z1 or 12mm lens with 180 degrees field of view for my full-frame camera? I already have the insta360 one x so I this is why I ask.
@@BenClaremont manually set them? Do you mean set the base exposure manually then pick the stop intervals/amount of photos?? Like DSLR it seems like. To do hdr in post from raw files.
Really like your videos, great work please continue ! I bought the Evo two days ago thanks to your reviews, it's quite intuitive to use/edit but god there is so much to take in count ! My current challenge is the stitching for videos but now I'm looking to make the best snapshots possible.
I am new to 360 photography. In manual mode how do you set the aperture (5.6) on the Insta 360 one x ? I see the camera settings for iso, shutter and white balance but no aperture setting.
Hey Ben, really informative video (subbed and liked). I have the OneX and am having all sorts of trouble with motion blur. I use it to record my runs here in China. I am trying to understand manual settings for video so I can get crisp video, have you done a video about manual settings for video? Any tips for me? Cheers.
@@BenClaremont i dont see the option on the settings. Idk if im missing it but ive been through the photo settings alot. Ive become to believe you can only do manual settings with the phone app. If you can find it without the app would you let me know. (For photos) they do have shutter speed changing for videos on the camera but nothing for iso
Can anyone tell me what setting I would want to use on a Theta Z1 for capturing real estate. So far I know I want low ISO because the lighting is usually pretty good in homes.
On the Insta360 One (not X) none of that is possible in Standalone mode. You can set a few things when actually connected to the Phone, but everything is back into overblown skies in Auto mode in 'Standalone', even in Log - which is actually worse than non-Log for doing that. Settings do not 'stick'. You can check by taking a photo/video while connected, then stay where you are, unclip from phone, do same in Standalone mode: wildly different results. So, is the Insta360 One X better in that regard and can you show us how that works? Do settings you set when connected to the camera remain active when you remove it and use it in standalone mode?
@@BenClaremont Well, I bought an Insta360 One X and it's not much better. I have been wondering what isn't okay with your face on the 360 photo, now I know it 😂 I use auto-mode the most time too. But for some conditions you need to use manual mode. And the results are really impressive from the Theta Z1 👍
@Daniela Tocan It's that already HDR-style? I would say no, but it's definitely a developed RAW. And other point-and-shoot 360 cameras with RAW will struggle to get similar results because they have smaller sensors.
@Daniela Tocan I know Aurora and similar programs. And your photo is nice, if you ignore the shining of the Förderturm. That's not natural. Anyway is has no meaning without knowing the camera. A DSLR with a big sensor has other possibilities as as small sensor
Rightfully proud of your(s) Sidney harbour at night, Ben. I don’t think I can do the same with my humble MiSphere camera....about the same spot...why don’t “somebody” glue a 1/4 inch platform in the spot “someone” find the most picturesque? It would be a new touristic attractive to go to this point with reallyyyy very little ecological impact and you ( and everybody else) could take very long time-lapses movies...
im sort of confused. I just got my theta z1 and the photos are blurry as hell, ive tried the HDR rendering, doing manual settings, but everything is noisy and blurry. any tips?
@@BenClaremont even with really low shutter speeds there was still a lot of noise but it may just be the room. Its horrible horrible lighting. even with bracketing
Every time an insta360 one x picture is exported, it loses the 360 format so it's just a straight flat 2d picture. The only way a picture taken with the insta360 one x, remains in 360, is by viewing it through the insta360 studio. Once you export it to a JPG, it's no longer 360. FYI there are only two of the four option Ben listed, ISO and Shutter Speed, Aperture and White Balance do not exist as settings inside the camera. Insta360 either needs to stop catering to Apple or include a generic iphone with this camera.

Orient the sides of the camera away from important/close details
