The guys at the front treat it as a race. Unfortunately the rules permit coffee so there it is. One of the benefits of being a slow arse is not having to worry about that stuff.
Ok this time I'll admit, dropping a coffee just before a climb 6k from the finish line is shady AF. No problem if it's on the easy part but in decisive moments it's definitely a dirty move, especially if you're in contention for the win. Good effort as always!
@@RideWithGerben No matter how many times you tell that, it is still not set up as a race and it isnt a race according to Zwift. No matter how much you try to convince us or yourself, it isnt. So people are using late joins and coffee stops and those arent cheats. The Young rider is another case I agree. But since it isnt a race, Zwift allows z-power riders so there is nothing more to do than accept.
@@ptp1969This is a very didactic take. If everyone at the front is racing, follows race conventions and all agree that there is a winner and placing, then it doesn’t matter what its official status is, that’s just a construct. Further, if said racers all agree to follow the conventions of racing, and then one of those racers breaks that convention by using coffee in the heat of the race, the other racers are well within their moral right to call him a cheater. Saying it’s not a race, while technically correct, is willfully missing the point.
@ How about we try to reach a compromise. It is obviously not a race but riders can decide to treat it as one so effectively it becomes a race for them at least. I think that is the most logical conclusion.
Haha Gerben!! Are you handing out the Cone of Shame trophy’s for Yung! I don’t think I’d even bother chasing him tbh… cos when the ZP results are released… you will find him no where ;)
@ I know… I paused the end of ur upload to see the results.. It’s always difficult to know, if they (Asian) are legit.. power to weight ratio etc. Still thou, I don’t like to chase the carrot 🥕 and save my matches for later ;)
You can see he's z-power during the ride because he lacks the little lightning bolt icon next to his w/kg. It's not really cheating since Zwift allows it. Just ignore them, since they don't show up on zwiftpower anyway.
@ oh maybe because it’s just a “group ride”? I think most races don’t show the Zpower riders on Zwiftpower, but I’m not sure anymore so don’t take my word for it 😛
Agreed Gerben with a few of the other comments… Why would you, and others even go after a Z Power Rider… Means nothing… Accomplished Nothing other than taking the Ride/Race away from others 🤔🚴♀️🚴♂️🚴♀️🚴♂️🍻
One of these days, if I find myself in a group ride with Gerben, I feel like it might be tempting to ride off the front at 500w for a couple minutes for no reason at all just to see if he chases and I can create a permanent video record of myself being tactically stupid for the memes.
@@RideWithGerben You called him out immediately as he starts to push 5.5w/kg, which isn't that remarkable for high fitness individuals when attacking. He keeps up high watts while trying to get away, but so do you. So... where's the cheat?
@ He is holding very steady power. It's either electric assist or Zpowerranger. Checked him out later: Zpowerranger. He is using a wheels-on turbo to wreck races. And he knows that.
Whether suspect or not . . . at 37:46 he just slow rode off the front with less than 3 km to go. It wasn't really even a surge . . . and 9 people just let him do it instead of catching the free taxi . . . 🚕 As fun as it is for views to poke and say he's a cheat, any one of you could have been in his wheel and then stayed in it at an effort of less than 4 w/kg (drafting off his 5-6 w/kg) and I promise you that he had no sprint.
@@RideWithGerben That is fair - you race a ton. If I had your race frequency, I'd be dropping off the back a lot more. I need plenty of rest / zone 2 days or I'm useless😅
Come on it’s not a race. It’s a group ride. If truth be known nothing on Zwift is an actual race because you don’t know how Level the playing field is. If you genuinely want to race get outside on the road, pin a number on your back and do a TT or a road race. Not a sportive though.
It’s deffo a race. Pinning a number on and go yolo is long behind me now. But sometimes you can find me on the TT scene and in the gran Fondo circuit. 😄
I don't understand why Zwift continues to treat Tour of Zwift/Watopia as group rides when everybody is considering them as races. If they don't want to segregate the stages by category (because it's too expensive for them) why don't just remove late joins and coffee breaks? Everyone would be happier.
True. These are proper races. I put out more power in some of these than in certified A cat races. No joke. Coffee break is fine: in the back of the pack. Later join: cool, in the back of the pack.
@@RideWithGerben Because these are Group RIDES - ride with the GROUP @ the PACE you wish....and if you want to race - enter a proper Zwift race that has category's 😛😛😛
They are literally categorized under rides, not races. Front is always fastest, kind of obvious, but it doesn't make it a race. If you want to push hard, go for it. I've "raced" in one of these, for me it was a hard effort. Checking couple riders data after the ride, I find out they were on z2 workout. Getting upset about late joiners and coffee breaks in GROUP RIDES is silly.
As others said, because they’re group rides. It’s a multi-week event, it’s for fun…it’s not a race series. Ride it how you want, and don’t get mad about what others do.
On every ride I’ve done, there are always people that treat it like a race and go balls-to-the-wall from the gun. But, if I want a race, I look for something with “race” in the description . At this stage of my life (I’m 72 years old), I just can’t compete with the front guys.
Next time you get an attack/cheat like Yung, need to have the whole group hit the coffee button
LoL! Anti-cheat button: everyone on 5w/k

Coffee in the back! :D Not on the climbs.
To be clear, coffee isn't cheating. It's available, its use isn't limited to the flats etc. It's very antisocial but it's not cheating.
Yes. It should only be available in the back of the pack!
Coffee Not available at race events. These events are Rides and people make them races. That's why coffees are allowed.

It is. There is a finish line :D
What is it you think he’s doing that’s cheating?
Doing steady 6.2 w/k from the front for a long time. Also: guy got demoted on ZwiftPower regulary for the same shenanigans.
How would you even cheat like that? Is it just lying about your weight?? Seems a bit of an empty win if cheating.
