Many Thanks Jim. I grew up there in the quiet days when farmer Channin would drive his cows down the High Street twice a day for milking. Joe Drackley would deliver milk ladled from a can and his horse would know every house to stop at. A steam lorry would deliver flour to the co-op bakery... The Manor House was occupied. At the junior school, we all collected used jam jars and paid for a new roof. We wrote on slates at school..(now i've gone full circle and use a 'tablet') !
Hello, I am really interested in finding some old photo's of Barwell, My dad grew up there and now has dementia, he has no photo's himself of the place but is always talking about Barwell I would like to find some to show him, he lived at Grange cottages, his name is Vincent Findley, I know as a child he helped out on a farm there, any info would be great, thank you
Are there no real men in Barwell. From what Ive seen in the news youre all running scared of a few louts. Get together and give a few of the ringleaders a good slapping. Its the one thing these bullies dont like. You will see results in weeks and also get your pride back, I promise.
