This made me realize that Gura lore wise is pretty much one aquatic version of Aang from Last Airbender. While dorment for centuries, her home town got wiped. Everyone she ever knew is now gone. At same time she have to force herself to get out her happy go lucky personality and face off tge responsibilities of being the last one of her species.
Except mama and daddy shark still exist and she has that story of mama shark taking her to the atlantis bank ect..... So its more likely that atlantis is just the surface world but underwater....
But wait isn't her lore about how she went to surface because she was just bored? Lmao I remember the "LOL it's so boring here" thing which goes along with her Origin story video. I see this more like a what if, where Gura place was forgotten/destroyed and her race went extinct.
Gura being a kid again: having fun in Atlantis, while holding back her sadness after realizing her home will never be restored to its former glory, and Myth being there to be her crutch as she breaks down... Damn, this animation has me emotional. Liked.
That’s exactly what I was thinking when I saw this. Gura having fun in Atlantis with her new friends before realizing that her home will never be the same.
@@jaydenly8153yeah. Sad. The last of the Atlanteans. In a way she’s like the doctor who is the last of his species too. Though the difference being she had all of her friends there. A very nice video
I'm not gonna even bother making a full on comment, cause this is exactly what I felt as well. It was tough not to cry when i saw Gura tearing up. This video hit me in my feels and dealt extra crit damage.
The little detail of the slightly brightened vignette around the corners when we see Gura begin to tear up from Ame's point of view, suggests that Amelia might have started tearing up immediately upon seeing Gura's happy facade break into crying ;^;
Without a single word of dialogue, but everything was shown so beautifully and emotionally. The music made it powerful and the excitement and fun going along with the tempo of the music all building up to... Gura cracking. It's so good. You did such astounding work here. The last frame. The last note. This'll stick with me for a long time. Thank you !!
I like to imagine the reason that Calli seems so subdued is because as a reaper she can sense what happened in this place, to this place. But she doesn’t want to say anything because Gura is (seemingly) having such a good time being home again.
Really well made. Gura is all happy and excited to show off her home. However, I could not stop thinking "it is all ruins". Knowing Gura did not have it easy, at least mentally, before joining Hololive. Hope she finds peace now.
I can see it. Finally, Gura got the courage to open up to her Myth sisters to talk about Atlantis. To help her remember, she asks Ame to take them back to about 100 years after Atlantis sank. Not ready yet to see the citizens again. Once there, the ruins are still mostly standing. Old memories come flooding her mind. She talks about as a young child living in the ocean, she heard how her father Posiedon had fallen in love with a human princess. He breaks off her kingdom from the mainland and drags it out to sea. Instead of telling the original name of the island, she uses it's modern name. Atlantis. She talks of being excited to see the new island. All the people and buildings. She talks about the amazing foods to try. She talks about all the fun stuff the kids of the city showed her. The combination of both happy and sad memories blanketing Gura in bittersweet melancholy. It was tough talking about it after so many years. Emotional exhaustion makes her too tired to move. Gura is grateful as her sisters hug her lending her their strength.
The feeling of showing your friends your forever changed hometown, showing them the places of your memories, playing around and having fun occupy your mind and not ruin the mood but in the end you remember what happened on that day
Maybe this is why Gura has never finished her attempts to build Atlantis in Minecraft. Becouse she knows that even if she does finish it, because she can rebuild the buildings but without her people, Atlantis will never be complete and beautiful as she once was.
The fact that some of the girls used their special abilities to get to gura quicker when she was crying implies two things. 1: That they were too far away that simple running or walking wouldn’t be quick enough for them. 2: That if they were that far away, maybe they didn’t even see her start to cry and just felt it cause they are that close and knew they had to be by her side immediately Could be reading into it for a neat animation but I think it’s even more touching to interpret it this way
It's also likely they all saw this coming when they made this trip out; of course this was going to hurt, how could it not? The entire time, they had at least one pair of eyes on her, watching for the moment her facade came down.
After seeing the end for the first time, rewatching it made it a very different video. The liveliness of Gura in the background is just the cover up of Goob's sadnesss, well for me atleast. This is soo amazing
@@angelredvivar maybe both, imagine being the last of your kind and being the only survivor in your entire race while all the others are gone forever. Yea, that will cause Survivor Guilt. But also remembering the past where Atlantis in it's glory but now they all just ruins will trigger her tears.
I don't see it as "covering up her sadness". That's genuine excitement in l'il Goobs. It's just that, at some point, the sadness creeps in. And she had her whole crew there to help her out. c:
So did anyone else notice she's already looking like she's about to cry at 1:20 but sees Ame looking at her and immediately hides it? Only for the feelings to eventually overwhelm her mid-speak, my god i have no words, the shark cries, i cry.
That was incredibly well done. Not a single voice was heard, and yet Gura's tears was all it needed for me to shed my own. This was a beautiful gift to the fandom, thank you so much.
I give it a 1000/10 for every point i can think of, the gloriest part is that her sadness make my emotion feel bad for her when her home will never be able to rebuild again but hope that i can see another animation like this rebuilding her home and see her tears of joy.
no words for how beautiful this was, I thought this was a happy-go-lucky video of the girls checking out Gura’s home, i did not expect that twist, it sorta reminds me of Aang’s first time revisiting his Air Temple
What I admire about past is the civilization cause it the last hope of true memories standing Some stuff are told and alternated by lies But a civilization that died off, it’s location and text and all is what’s stands as the truth
My favorite part of the HoloMyth community is all the lore that the fans speculate about and create amazing fanwork for. And of that lore, seeing all the fan interpretations of the fate of Atlantis is the most interesting, in my opinion. Did it get destroyed by a natural disaster, or from conflict with an enemy nation a la the most popular telling of the story from Plato? Or maybe even a supernatural force from beyond caused its demise? How were the people like before it fell? Gura has told stories of a few of the denizens being fish/crustacean-headed people, but were there more people like Gura herself? Is it impossible to resettle or even visit? Or is it possible to go back, and Gura just chooses not to? And if so, is it because she's moved on and prefers her new life on land, or is it because she doesn't want to go back to her homeland in ruins? And for that matter, is it even destroyed in the first place? Some fanworks do show Atlantis still thriving; just remote and invisible to the outside world. All of those questions are open ended and create an entire field for the fans to use as a foundation for their own creations.
It depends on the Fans prespective or creative thought of their Lore. It is Canon that we as Fans can change create a Reality of their Lore because we have the 'Observer Effect'. Where we create a Reality that we perceive or believe in Hololive Verse. For example, the HoloWeeN series where HoloEN become Horror series because of the Fans/viewer perspective and believes.
I can imagine there's a time where Gura can't take it anymore and want Calli to reap her soul so she can join her kind. Then Calli ask if Gura want her and other HoloMyth members to be fall feel sadness of her loss with a grim expression in her face because she didn't like when Gura just give up her life just like that. Reaping Kiara's life everytime she pass away is already make her sad enough, but Gura too ? Where she will gone forever unlike Kiara ?. Even that will make a reaper cry.
That is one hell of a magic trick, making it rain like that in my office. But for real, awesome animation and I love all the things happening in the background!

I wonder. Could Mori have been the one who delivered the souls of the rest of Gura's people to the afterlife?
That's why Gura never rebuilt Atlantis even though Kaela gave her the materials. It was too painful to go back.
oof, did not about this. broke my heart all over again.
All of them rushing to hug Gura was so heartwarming

Watching Goobus excitedly show the girls around the empty ruins of her home had me bracing for that ending.
