  • Learn how to use the free shuttle system in Zion National Park! There are two separate shuttle routes take you through Zion Canyon and the Town of Springdale.
    Zion Canyon Shuttle Line
This route travels along the Zion Canyon Scenic Route, making stops at several locations along the way:
    1. Zion Canyon Visitor Center - this is where you'll start your shuttle ride and is a great place to talk to park rangers, use the restroom, and stop by the Zion Forever Project park store!
    2. The Zion Human History Museum closes seasonally, and the shuttle does not always stop here. Check our website at go.nps.gov/zionshuttle for an up-to-date list of stops and schedules.
    3. Canyon Junction - from here, the shuttle only stops going down-canyon back towards the Visitor Center. Shuttles do not stop to pick up visitors looking to go up-canyon from this stop.
    4. Court of the Patriarchs - this scenic stop has a short path to a viewpoint of the Three Patriarchs, which are sandstone mountains that tower over the road below.
    5. Zion Lodge - whether you're staying the night, hiking a trail, riding a horse, or just stopping for lunch, the Zion Lodge is a great place to visit.
    6. The Grotto - this shady picnic area has restrooms and water available and is the starting point for several popular trails. Folks looking to hike Angels Landing will need to have their permit either printed or downloaded to show to rangers along the trail.
    7. Weeping Rock - the short, but steep, hike to Weeping Rock can be accessed here. Longer hikes to Observation Point and Hidden Canyon are currently CLOSED.
    8. Big Bend - below Angels Landing, this aptly named bend in the Virgin River is a nice stop to look for climbers, condors, and wildlife along the river.
    9. Temple of Sinawava - at the end of the canyon, this stop is the gateway to the Narrows along Riverside Walk. Restrooms are available here.
    Town of Springdale
The shuttle drives from the beginning of Springdale at the Majestic View Lodge to the south entrance of the park at Zion Canyon Village, making stops along the way.

It's illegal for persons to ride in a towed vehicle. I can't do it with my travel trailer, how come Zion gets away with one bus towing another bus? I assume there are people in the towed vehicle.

The riding in a trailer bus, such as those in use at Zion national park, is legal. A trailer bus is a specifically designed vehicle which uses a trailer with similar safety features to that of the tow vehicle, which in this case is a bus. Also, due to the fact that the roadways of Zion national park are federal property, because of this fact the buses, which are also owned by the national park service and the federal government, are allowed to traverse the Zion national park roadways with visitors riding in the specifically designed trailer bus style vehicle. Also note, the shuttle bus in the local town is not pulling a trailer, because it is not on federal land, but is driving on the roadways of the local municipality like any civilian or government owned vehicle.
