Best snacks must try in my opinion,
    1. Klepon : glutinous rice + pandan with palm sugar inside and sprikle of grated coconut. Dont bite, let the palm sugar pop out.
    2. Kue cincin : ring cake flour with palm sugar its good
    3. Pukis
    4. Surabi or Serabi
    Maybe can try tropical fruit

Lemper, kue lapis, wajik, risoles are very common so you can find that easily because some snacks are pretty hard to find. Anyway thank you for trying and enjoying our snacks, hope you love it.

The lemper is actually steamed. But you got the steamed and roasted one because it is "lemper bakar". "Bakar" means roasted. Traditionally, lemper is made by rounding the filling inside the sticky rice and make oval shape. But in modern times, they made it in square tray and cut it into square pieces to make it more easy.
For kue lapis. This is my favorite snack from childhood. People usualy eat it in unique way, which they peel off each of every layers and eat it one by one. They come in several colors like green, pink, and chocolate. It is made from glutinous rice flour
"Wajik" came after it shape which is trapezium. Made from sticky rice, brown sugar, coconut milk. In modern days people just make it as a square one
If you wanted to find the actual traditional snacks (from recipe and shape), you can find it in street seller, but it is also difficult nowadays. I hope you enjoy our Foods here ❤

I strongly believe the first snack you tried is not risoles, but sosis solo. The part where staff stared when you went to any store is so relatable. Haha, yet I can assure you they didn't mean negativity by doing so. As for plastic usage, I couldn't agree with you more. But I also believe we will eventually reduce plastic usage. Stay healthy and enjoy your stay!

Wajik is n traditional snack originates from ancient Java. The earliest mention of wajik is in a Majapahit scripture named Nawa Ruci scripture written in Javanese language by Mpu Siwamurti in 1500 - 1619 AD.
Wajik has occupied important roles in Javanese tradition, for example, the Numplak Wajik ceremony held by Keraton Yogyakarta as part of Grebeg Muludan during the Sekaten festival.
Wajik is interpreted as "wani tumindak bêcik" meaning the obligation to be brave in doing good and striving for goodness.
Based on its ingredients wajik also have this philosophy: Sticky rice symbolizes close fraternal relations and friendship. The use of coconut milk, which in Javanese is called santên (sagêda paring pangapuntên), symbolizes the hope that we will become forgiving individuals. And Javanese sugar which symbolizes the hope that friendship and relationships will always be "sweet" and harmonious.
Until this day you will find wajik as a part of snack or snack hampers in traditional Javanese celebrations such as wedding, pregnancy, birth of children, housewarming, etc.

First of all, on 1:38 I just wanna say.. don't feel uncomfortable or gonna wierd feelings when people in Indonesia stare at you frequently or a lot. Because, first, you look different as we are, second, usually Indonesian people have the habit of eyes contacting each other even though they don't know each other, and then they smile and sometimes they lower their heads a little as a sign of welcoming you as someone who don't know each other but greet each other briefly. What I hear from friends who are native on other countries, mostly from western countries, staring at people you don't know is impolite and is seen as challenging or intimidating other people. No, maybe this is like a culture shock. One time when I was traveling to South Korea, in the crowd while waiting to be served at a food stall on the side of the road I saw someone who was also waiting for the same food, then I smiled and lowered my head slightly, but what a surprise I saw that person and her friends were confused and looks like unconfortable. It's really wierd for me, that my intention is just trying to be friendly and like saying "say hi". It's like just for respect, doesn't mean anything, just likes meeting foreigners, and asking a few general questions, something like that. And don't be surprised if many Indonesians suddenly ask you to take a photo together as if you are a celebrity. It's like just for fun, doesn't mean anything, just likes meeting foreigners, and asking a few general questions, something like that. Enjoy your traveling in Indonesia 🙏

For kind of kue, authentic Indonesian snacks... it's very difficult to mention all of them. Because there are too many, and diverse.. maybe thousands of them. Because in each region, or city, even in one province, the types can be different. I think because of the various ethnic groups also more than a thousand in Indonesia. If you buy it at a modern bakery shop, usually the traditional kue/snack that are common which have become national kue. Because in general, traditional kue in each city is in a traditional market known as "Jajanan Pasar". For information, if you are in Java you will find the characteristics of food which is generally towards the sweet, especially towards the east of Java. If in the west Java it is more salty. Even though they are on the island of Java, historically there have been many kingdoms in the past that were entrenched in the land of Java, around dozens of kingdoms, which influenced the types of cuisines and traditional kue respectively. Maybe I suggest you to try lemper, onde2, klepon, bakcang (pork) & bakpau but it's kind a chinese etnic influence, and then pukis.

Russeolus, Rissole, Roinsolles it's a France stuff and I think it was brought by Dutch at that time to Indonesia since it was quite famous dish at that time on the region (Europe). I'm drooling watch you eating lemper ayam 🤤

Welcome to Malang! Here are the places i recommend you to visit.
No 1. Jawa Timur Park (JATIM PARK). I recommend you try all of them (Jatim park 1, 2 and 3. There is also a Jatim Park 4 or Batu Love Garden (BALOGA) ) :)
By the way, these are all located in Batu.
    No 2. Museum Angkut.
Its a very good museum where there is alot of vintage cars, planes, etc. There is also a parade at the Gangsters Town.
The hotel i recommend in batu if your planning to stay there is
    Amartha Hotel.
It could get a little pricey but the room on the top of the hotel is very lovely. You will get 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and a Hot Tub.
In Jatim Park 3, there is alot of attractions. Like the largest music museum in asia. In there, you could see alot of traditional musical instruments, hear music from the legendary musicians such as Chrisye, etc.
Anyways, if you read this, tell me if you want recommendations for more places on the comment section.
    Thank you!

0:51 I think Karolina picked sosis solo there instead of risoles ayam 😂 risoles has a fried panko outer layer while sosis solo is an egg mixture for the crust. both are equally good to me imo tho! 😁
Indonesia has a ton of traditional snacks (kue basah) to try I think you'll find them more over at morning markets down the street
my favorite kue basah are klepon, ongol-ongol, and getuk
other snacks I like are kue pancong & serabi solo 😍
