This was especially weird to watch after seeing the recent video of it closed.

Absolutely. I wished I had watch this first and dancing the destruction afterwards. My only hope is that collectors we're able to come and remove a lot of the things before they were destroyed. I'm still curious as to where the majority of the things went. What we saw a really was very minimal in comparison to what he had. I'm almost wondering if he may have sold off a lot of the better quality things and then invited people to come and take whatever they wanted of what was left. He did have some very valuable collectibles.

It already looks abandoned... what a shit hole. To think that only six years ago a place like this actually existed in the United States of America. Full of useless junk that could only appeal to the simplest of minds, or those weakened by nostalgia, or both. Kitschy garbage. I hope every place like this that still inexplicably exists burns to the ground.
The item @ 4:41 - my wife's grandfather had one very similar in his lounge-room, it would squirt water at you, if you went past it...
it never failed to amuse him.... bless him.

Because some pieces of human garbage decided to trash the place beyond how ruined it already was. Absolutely sad. What kind of imbecile would want wreck a place like this? (Besides the owner who had an actual mental illness of course )
@@cemeterydollie I couldn't agree with you more. There's so many unanswered questions about all the pieces that are no longer there. I know he offered that people could come out there and take whatever they wanted so hopefully a lot of his collection is in the homes I people that cared about those things. Something I'll never understand is people's need to destroy things just because they can. But to be fair like you mentioned if he was in the condition that he was starting to Splash paint all over everything he was probably doing a lot of damage to the inside of the buildings on his own. What a terribly sad story.
This went from the roadside attractions playlist over to the abandoned places list in heartbreakingly rapid time. It’s a melancholy feeling to watch you all respectfully enjoying everything there with such awe and appreciation. Obviously making dear memories like so many people have done before you. And then (like another commentator stated) this place looking like it has been abandoned for over a decade but seemingly overnight. Someday this tragic story will be world famous. It’s already too late to save the old place, but she doesn’t have to die like that, and this is not her last stand. Long live Guntown Mountain.
Agreed, I am glad at least I got to enjoy it with them on their tour.

The 50 Cent music at the Haunted House kind of killed me LOL! I'm so sad I will never get to see this place, it seemed really interesting and tacky, which I am all about. I love the lazy cover up of the G in the Funtown sign, it's actually kind of charming. And did the employee say no comment to the gross/creepy people being in the mask?? I cracked up! This seemed like such a fun day, you guys are so lucky!
TehSherry new owners, Froggetts Entertainment has revived it, the Haunted Hotel opened back up on Oct 2 along with black light mini golf, also seen on Facebook it is gonna be revival of Guntown Mt.

I'm sure that hornet nest tucked around the corner of that haunted house was a nice scare for people! Haha! Walking into that thing around the corner would have made me jump more than anything else in that haunted house.

At 2:14 are two white with big smile creatures called "shmoo's". They were in a comic book series when I was a kid. Came out in 1948, created by Al Capp for the Lil Abner comic strips.... and they pre-dated Casper the Friendly Ghost. Anyone else remember them?

Those two dolls represent a social movement filled with colorful satire and charming popularity. What a treat you inspired, "CarpetBagger" family. This was so awesome! I was at Guntown Mountain back in '87 when I was a senior in high school. I remember going up to the top on the chair lifts. This brought back many great memories. In fact I was at Cave City with my two kids this summer and I was going to take them there, but alas it was closed. At least the cave there was still open so we went through it. Keep up the great work!

The Carpetbagger Froggetts Entertainment owns it now, they own a local country radio station and a couple country music halls, I seen on Facebook it is gonna be a revival of Guntown Mountain, the locals are excited, my family is excited.

5:22, I'm not even joking, I have that exact robotic decoration! It's a witch and it comes with a microphone so can either set it to sensor where it says something when you walk past it or you can say anything you want with the microphone. Holy shit I have this weird feeling right now! ()_()
Its heart-wrenching to see this video after it being closed. Its sad because it had so much love and work put into it, and it was a magical place to be

It looks like what happened was he pretty well got to a point where he set up his collectibles started to fix the place up but when it really came to the point of getting running he probably ran out of money. There Was really no more than his Collectibles displayed the mini golf and the haunted house so it really was a very basic Roadside Attraction. It didn't even appear to be close to being up and running. Either way it is a very sad story of a man that had a big dream and probably ran out of money and decided to drink and Drug his problems away. I think that's where his destruction of everything came into play when he realized he wasn't going to be going any further. Imagine how ugly all of the things that he had loved and collected all his life started to look to him.

I would love to find a "Hugo Man Of A Thousand Faces" that was sitting on the shelf at 1:41 between the clown Head and Mr. T Cereal. Hugo was created by Alan Ormsby. Alan Ormsby stared in and directed the cult zombie movie "Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things". Was it for sale?
Annabelle grew up over just a few months within the 2 videos I seen her in! Glad she gets to travel with you while you both leave the wife at home, lol Tell her that weird, messed-up version of what she couldn't think of was a Grimace! I would LOVE to go here. Never heard of it till Your'e video. This is awesome. I,too love these types of attractions, and the ski lift to the top would be awesome. It's a damn shame it won't be open because of the owners personal issues with himself, and this area. He has/ had a "goldmine" here..(at least I'd think so)...Thanks for this very interesting video and blog. YOU were very lucky to go here before it closed . Thanks for the share!!!!

Remember going to this place a lot as a kid in the late 80s when it was Guntown Mountain. Always a good time. Remember the Haunted House as a lot scarier. lol

Oh, well so he fell off the wagon so to speak. The article says that he is an alcoholic, has a mental illness that requires medication that isn't really compatible with alcohol. I'm sure that the arrest for pot a week before didn't help his mental or decision making state.

Not for me, never was. I refuse to go into a haunted house to this very day. Now, the abandoned houses are another story in which I take great delight! By the way, your daughter is a sweetheart! She's got personality walk, personality talk, funny, plus he's got a great big heart!

That was a very fun tour!! I love places like that. The vintage toys in the beginning were great to see. I think I would have had an anxiety attack in the Haunted House, but not from being scared. It was so dark and tight inside!! Ugh!! I find it so awesome that your daughter accompanies you on your adventures!! You seem like a great dad!!
