i’ve been listening to this song for like 8 years now and it still blows my mind that all of these seemingly random samples actually have a chord progression and make musical sense together, especially at 2:39
@@jacoblewis-jones2298 Yes it's me (how do you know haha). I started making tracks in that period and Akufen was really fascinating to me! Glad you like the tunes!! :)
@@simontrem080 I think your name must of been listed on a VA you were on and some how I didn't forget it :) me and a few friends had a couple of silly nights floating away to some of your stuff hope your still writing they odd tune and things are all cool P.S what ever happened to christmess loved that one
@@jacoblewis-jones2298 Thats so cool! Yes I’m still writing, but very slowly since I have less time and these collage takes a lot of time to finish. I putted back online "Christmess" on YT !
btw this album came out in 01 and electro kids are using this sorta technique with their razorblade sounds nearly 10 years later. talking about being ahead of his time
Sdds Akufen.
Ha ha this is fun It's interesting that it was done in FL Studio , that's my favorite DAW I wouldn't normally associate this with isolation tough, I relate to it in a different way , it makes me think more the immense quantity of music you can find in websites like TH-cam precisely.
@lolik66666 i don't think i'd call this single in particular microhouse if you wanna get pedantic. a lot the rest of the album, though (WHICH IS COMPLETELY ESSENTIAL LISTENING), would definitely fall under that umbrella imo
Apologize for the 4 year reply, but it appears that Yu Miyaki may have been inspired by his works since he created Pulse Phaze and a good chunk of the soundtrack from R: Racing Evolution
Oh, this is definitely a song. Go listen to "My Kitten Went to London" by Kid 606, or the album "Faust" by Faust if you want "is this even a song?" music. Great sampling though; some of the best I've ever heard.
I agree, and i'm a producer and big fan of chopped samples. He doesn't tie the 'collage' together musically the way todd edwards does. Listen to the first few seconds of 'perfect love' by todd edwards to hear what i'm talking about. very cool track here nonetheless.
I know late reply but like this album came out a full two years before shut the door. I don't know if Todd was making music like this before that track but I feel like that's the track that everybody cites by him as being the most prominent in this style.
More than 10 years of listening to this and it is still amazing.

I remember that song in my walkman, at 3am after a party. Was drunk and danced alone on some boulevard. Ahh nostalgia...
Did you shuffle? That would look nuts on this song!
Native Cell? thought you were influenced by this stuff love your tunes mate!

I showed this song to many of my friends but noone likes it!
I should look for new friends ^^
yes you should.
Heard this for the first time today, it’s superb!
I think it’s fire...
id say its really hard to appreciate if you dont understand how electronic music is made. so i dont blame them
had someone on shrooms freak out and think their computer had a problem when I played him this song
God he must have felt so good when he was done.
The art of sampling
microsampling "
Honestly the best Micro track ever.
So many random samples put together in just the right way! Genius ;-)
Sample Heaven - just keep slicing and splicing!
Still sounds great after all these years.
You could say it’s timeless at the point, as it’s reaching its 20th anniversary while still being ahead of its time.
Damn, 20 years later and still amazing :D
in 2020 and this sounds brand new
This is actually really cool, like switching through tv channels with a constant groovy baseline.
It would be epic to see a music video utilizing all the samples as video clips being flicked through.
can't imagine the time it took to pull all these samples together
is faster than creating a deadmau5 song, for example
pretty sure its all sampled from the FM radio.
Coming back after 15 years (?). Forgotten all about it. Amazing.
This was played at one of my lectures last week, sooooo good!
"In My Way" - IMO the best CD of Akufen!!
Can't understand why simf and spotif don't know it!!!
I love the percs in this track.
Also, that album-cover looks amazing!
Genius! Love how it all eventually comes together :)
This style is very forward and is a perfect example of musical creativity at it's best!
holy shit thats a truly original track, massive!!
Thank you, FPM, for introducing me to this masterpiece. Sound Concierge for ever
Reminds me of Todd Edwards. Awesome!
Wow, I was a bit skeptical at first, but shit if he didn't pull it off. It shaped up beautifully. Amazing track.
2024 and I still come back to this.
This is just amazing
as always such a brilliantly quirky groove.
thank God for the quantizer.
:-)
BEST PART OF MY LIFE!!!!!!

So good I'm going lossless for it.
Super le rythme est entraînant !! 🤗👍👍
akufen - my way , cant remember if year 2000 or 2001. A GREAT ALBUM!
It was made in 2002.
Cant stop listening

it's like listening a reverse sound but in a really nice way :)

Undoubtedly, I would never understand haters!!!
classic!!
Akufen and Matthew Herbert were such innovators back then. (There's even a track with Dani Siciliano on the flip of Deck).
Vraiment génial, j'adore!
Now, unlike others, this is one of the top pieces of music I've heard in a while. Jam!!!
this is pure awesoneness!
this is the sexiest album ever
1 of my fav songs ever.
These guys are off the chain man...
Todd Edwards would be proud.
Its CD left a copy of itself on my drive before flying from London to Japan. The drive died a year later.
this is microhouse at it's best.
Todd Edwards' music brought me here and I can confirm that the chord progression from 2:39 is divine
it's not minimal, it's microhouse! ;-D
best genre god gifted to us.
I LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
such good audio quaity! thanks :)
I remenber ! best of the best !

That's why loud speaker systems comes in handy. You don't need to hear that low when you can feel it

its like alliens recorded earth and made a from their point of view "spacy track"
clear french house inspo
Somebody once compared this song to a song called Pulse Phaze from the psp version of Ridge Racer

"What instrument do you play?"
"The TV remote control"
@randomgray i agree. there is a difference between sampling and plagerizing.
How fucking way! Haven't heard this track on a long time. Props

@spooloops i bet he had a big old bag of grass up there in that cabin too
Yea, you got me. You'll soon receive the flowers
this is like the artsy version of Todd Edwards..
Todd Edwards goes Dada
its the 4.0 version
GENIALE :D
Fat-assed blast from the past; what a gas!
Not on Spotify :/
considering no one has been able to rise to this insanity (which I'm surprised by) you have to think this is the GOAT track of microhouse right?
Wasn't Todd Edwards making this kind of music before Akufen?
I know late reply but like this album came out a full two years before shut the door. I don't know if Todd was making music like this before that track but I feel like that's the track that everybody cites by him as being the most prominent in this style.
Huh actually this came out the same year. For some reason Google had shut the door listed as coming out in 2003
