    I like the looks of this generation of Nissans. After renting a few Altimas I went to look at one and ended up driving home in 2020 Sentra SV in electric blue. I'm very happy with it.

      Nissan Sentra SR is a great car!!! I have a 2021 and it looks brand new with only 20,000 miles on it now. I might even think about another new one in a couple of years.

      I own a 2021 Nissan Sentra, SR gun metallic silver best car I’ve ever owned great gas mileage. Don’t let nobody tell you it doesn’t have a get up and go when you hit the SR button next to the stick shift because it does. I’ve been driving for three years no problems. Nissan makes the grid engine and they’ve worked out all the problems with the CVT, I would recommend to test drive one. I looked at the competition you get a lot more technology and this car looks really sporty. Looks like an expensive car and it drives like one.

    You are absolutely right about Nissan improving the CVTs. I still prefer the regular transmission but I drove a newer Nissan Murano the other day which also had a V6 CVT, and despite all the hollar about Nissan CVT, I was shocked it didn't sound bad and was pretty fast too.

      I currently drive a 2015 versa with CVT. Never had a problem with it. Of course you can't drive it hard. You can't drag race it or do whole shots.

      I’m renting a car soon on a business trip and I booked the compact car option, “Toyota Corolla or similar.”
      I really hope they don’t dump a Nissan Sentra on me, although I guess it’d be interesting to see what it’s like.

      Had a Sentra rental as well recently. Only thing somewhat positive I can say is that it had Adaptive Cruise, and fuel economy on highway was superb.
      Everything else was meh. Granted, I had a more barebones trim. Default sound system was laughably bad, no matter how I tuned it. It lacked power. Definitely a perfect car for rental fleets though.

    I really don’t get the hate Nissan still gets. Their CVTs are smooth and reliable now. Extremely comfy seats, great handling, roomy back seats (I can have my 2 boys in their car seats behind me no problem) and it’s just as fast and economical as the rest.
    The 28+k on the SR is wack tbh. We got our SR in February 2020 with a premium package for just over 24k after tax and all. Getting rid of the fog lights on the newer models is a bummer. Oh yeah the camera looks the same as my 2020 as well but that’s how Nissan is, they stay the same for a long time and then hit you with insane upgrades almost a decade later. Can’t wait to see what they have in store when they colab with Honda in the future!

      @@Sheepleton I don’t believe you got it for that price but anyways, it may help a bit but as long as you change the transmission oil accordingly, on any car with or without that feature, the transmission will be fine. Stop-start feature is mainly for fuel and emissions reduction.

    I have a 2021 Nissan Sentra SR I know what that buttons for when you press it it kicks you back in the seat so I don’t say it it doesn’t have power because it does and it drives like an expensive car. I’ve got long legs and 5 foot eight in shape, feel like I’m expensive. The interior looks amazing. It looks like an expensive car in the inside and outside drives and highway high mileage and the city also high mileage haven’t had no problems. I think the car has a great profile and also the front and the back look amazing. I’ve got fog lights, which the 2024 doesn’t have, a tell you makes it look a lot more aggressive with the fog lights otherwise I don’t need heated seats or heated steering wheel. I live in Florida, but we need is a good air conditioner and it does have one. It’s too cold. I would recommend this car to anybody the truck space is amazing, the truck is amazing. Can’t believe it’s that large. You can place a lot of items and your groceries with extra room to spare so go ahead and take and you’ll see what I’m talking about why I pay more money for these other cars are paying for is a namebrand Nissan engines I’ve always been a great engineNissan Titan four-wheel-drive same thing never had any problems but my wife Nissan no problems either so don’t be afraid to drive and buy one by the SR if you’re into the sports car good luck

  • @JustSimplyRobert
    @JustSimplyRobert 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    I can't justify ever buying a Nissan to be honest. I will defend Nissan on the fact that their CVTs, at least performance wise, are way better than they used to be. I can't say either way on reliability of the transmission on new models though. I had bought a brand new 2020 Alitma right at the start of the pandemic. It was a good car; it drove smooth, it was quiet, the sound system was awesome, had a lot of space and creature comforts, and it was relatively peppy. Also, when driving it definitely handled like a car that was quite a bit smaller than it was. However, after driving it for a few month daily something just seemed off about it. It's kind of hard to describe, it just felt like an appliance. The steering, while nimble, was lifeless and felt like like it wasn't really connected to anything. It was way to floaty, it felt like instead of the car moving within the world the world was moving around the car. There was virtually no sensation or feedback that made you feel like you were actually moving. So, 8 months later I sold it for 5k in profit and bought a 2015 Civic Si instead. I think, putting it into words Nissan is the automotive equivalent to vanilla ice cream. If your trying to cast a large net to get ice cream everyone can agree on for picky desert people, vanilla is generic and basic enough to where no one is going to take offense or have strong feelings on it. I think that’s the problem with modern Nissan, in attempt of trying to build the largest customer base possible they build a car that checks all the basics for car shopping while not appealing to any market. It’s a car that you can be comfortable with it and potentially enjoy in the moment if you had to drive it, yet offer nothing that give it an advantage to make anyone over the most casual car buyer favor it over anything else. It’s not a bad automobile, but it’s not a good automobile. It’s just meh.

    • @2seep
      @2seep 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    • @TassieLorenzo
      @TassieLorenzo 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@2seep It shares the platform with the RenaultSport Megane and the Megane is great to drive, especially in Trophy form...? 🤔 There is no reason Nissan can't make a Sentra with the same bits (Perfohub suspension similar to Civic Type R, Brembo brakes, limited slip diff, 4 wheel steering, 280-300hp Nissan MR18 engine etc).
      Nissan are on the KR series variable compression turbo engine now, which comes in a 2.0L which would be even better for a sport compact.
      If there are basic versions of the Renault Megane with Nissan NA engines and Nissan CVTs, why aren't there sporty versions of the Sentra with RenaultSport stuff? 😉[OK it doesn't help that Renault and Nissan pretty much hate either other now, ever since Mr. Ghosn escaped Japan in that cello case...]

    • @TassieLorenzo

      Don't overlook the RenaultSport Clio & Megane hot hatch backs in Europe and Australia (soon to be Alpine products), they have used the MR and M series engines designed by Nissan but with Renault or Getrag gearboxes. Currently Nissan are on the newer KR series engine, which is very fancy and has variable compression.
      The Nissan KR engine is a 2.0L variable compression turbo engine used in the Altima with 248 hp , which could fit a sport compact like the Sentra very nicely!!! But if you make a small footprint passenger car like the Sentra with a big inefficient 2.0L turbo engine that is REALLY bad for CAFE (hence limited volumes of Civic Type R/Integra Type S) and a Sentra NIsmo 2.0L turbo would have to be limited volume similarly.
      Obviously the Rogue is a bigger footprint and is a "light truck" so it is allowed 40% higher MPG under CAFE, cause the CAFE rules are real smart... /s

As to comparing costs, judging from the comments there seems to be a difference of opinion as to what the Sentra SR costs. Also, who are you to say people wouldn't be willing to pay a few thousand more for features they want if they know those features are available on another car.

      It's the usual bracket creep. There are smaller models that have slotted in underneath in the range. Nissan Versa IIRC. Civic is easily larger than Accord use to be, Jetta is easily larger than Passat used to be etc. American buyers prefer bigger cars for a given price for the most part, e.g., Dodge Avenger outselling Dodge Dart (the small dimensions of the VW Golf are the exception, it doesn't cost VW less to make the Golf smaller than the Jetta but (for the most part) American buyers are only willing to pay less for a Golf because it is smaller). The same case with the American market Atlas being both cheaper and larger than the European market Touareg.
      For whatever reason, North American buyers often equate the size of a vehicle to its value-for-money.

I’m not sure there are many people who would see a $30k Sentra and see it as the value option, while many millions of people have chosen Camrys and Accords for that exact reason.

      @@michaelw6277 Fair enough. Isn't the Civic Si more expensive than the base model Honda Accord? I guess it depends if things like quick steering, sports suspension,sports exhaust, limited slip differential, manual transmission, somewhat defeatable traction control etc are important to you or not. Basically whether you are looking for a smaller, lighter car that handles better and is fun to drive or just a basic mid-sized sedan cruiser.
      There isn't going to be a huge difference in what it costs to manufacture a Civic compared to an Accord, or a Sentra compared to a Altima, or a Jetta compared to a Passat -- yet buyers expect to pay a lot less for it.
      Unfortunately the SR Sentra doesn't quite deliver on those things despite the "SR" trim level name, but it still seems smaller and more sporty than the Altima.

    • @michaelw6277

      @@TassieLorenzo yeah but I think you kind of nailed the difference… the Si brings a lot of things that make it worth the money, because it sells very well. If the SR wants to be an Si competitor they really need to boost the performance, which I’d really love to see because we need as many legit sport compact options as we can get.
      That said I understand that the SR does handle quite well, but when you can get that handling at ~$22k why would I spend $30k for it? It’s not that the Sentra is a bad car (I like it), it’s that you can option it to the point that it just doesn’t make sense.

    A CVT and a 2.0 in a GR is laughable. Kia, Mazda and so many other brands blow this away. And a CVT being sporty in some cases is due to pure tuning. Where they lack is at the top end and the linearity of that power.

    • @TassieLorenzo
      @TassieLorenzo 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What's wrong with a 2.0 atmo engine? The problem is more the lack of variable valve lift and lack of a 8000-9000rpm redline.

      @TassieLorenzo The issue is not even with Nissan. Its that many car companies plunk on sporty name badges on slightly less generic cars and hype them like they are sporty.

    Interesting that you feel the Sentra as quick as your Mazda3, maybe because you drive an AWD model or maybe they set up for the Mexican versions are different, but the Mazda3 is waaaay quicker than the Sentra by my tests. I got in a Mazda3 7.8s 0 to 62MPH and the Sentra wel... find out here th-cam.com/video/pOCb72N43nE/w-d-xo.html
