It's always encouraging when you discover you're not the only player with slow single tonguing and also to be given a time frame for achievement! Thank you.

You should try the flute “didle”(dilururururu) it works weird and subtle, to tongue on reed at all!

EmmaLovesOboe which part you didn’t get? I’ve learned this from cornetto, since there we can only do articulations with tongue touching the palate, and applied it to baroque flute too. So, this is for high speed passages: you articulate Du lu ru lu ru lu ru ....or De le re le re le re...or Di li ri li ri li ri... (if you haven’t got it by now u vowel is accommodating acoustically low notes, o vowel higher, and i vowel suits high notes). So, you practice this slowly first. Once mastered it will give a very subtle and very fast and fluid articulation to quick runs, in comparison the tu-ku (du gu whatever) will feel to you like a rough sweaty elegantless choppy fuck feel to it

A useful thing would be to see the exercises written out labelling which note is the T or K. I just have a hard time learning stuff with only listening to it.

grainger the springer Thank you for the tip! Next time I will include it. Anyway for now: it’s always T-K-T-K, except for when I say “only K”, then it’s only K :)

Hello, your videos are so helpful for me as a student. Could you make a video on how you make your reeds, please?
    Thank you so much!

Leya Elise I’m very happy about that! I’ll probably do that in the future, but camera-wise it’s quite complicated and it’s just me so I’ll have to wait till someone wants to help me film! 😄

Hello! What is the difference between practice #1 and 2 please?

    • @emmalovesoboe486

Pascalle Aldib Hi Pascalle! Excercise 1 is “t-k-t-k”, while exercise 2 is “t-K-t-K”, so basically with a much stronger K sound, like an accent. This is to really train the tongue muscle. I hope that helps!

Hi Emma, how long would you recommend practicing double tonguing every day?

Do we have to touch reed through our tongue?🙄
