    I still pour over my Hârn books and maps, hoping to one day run a campaign there.

    I never forget my group of new players and their adventure in Golotha. Let's say they survived, barely......

    Really impressed by the editing in this video, it's a nice change from the standard 'talk into the camera' ttrpg vid. It seemed like the music overpowered your voice a bit in some areas. Looking forward to the next lore video.

      Thank you!
      It’s a very old one, back when I was just pouring equal parts Simon Schama, Attenborough, and the Green Bros, wasn’t too sure what my own spices would be…
      But I’m still a sucker for settings that leave Stones unturned, but the authors are smart enough to have an answer to what’s under the stones embedded in the tale. I might just be ready to pass on how it is I ended up asking these questions-why having the answers can make for a better night around the table with the beer and pretzels.

      Funny you should ask-I’m from “little Ontario,” which is to say, I’m from across the river in Detroitland! I am proud to be mistaken for a Canadian, though.

      @@The_CGA hahahahahhahahahhaha, Detroit is just as Canadian as Windsor is American.
      They’re basically the same, except Detroit has way more stuff to do and Windsor has less crime

    I wish you were into Tekumel. Hehe. I bet you could sell that setting like no one else.

    • @The_CGA
      @The_CGA  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Samwise Seven RPG alright it's only a matter of time before I crack on Tekumel. How about I get Tim's reading list for tekumel (5 books or so), I see how many I can get my hands on, and I'll get to making a Tekumel video. It may be more of a chronicle of me learning Tekumel, but I think you've managed to elbow in front of Glorantha (several requests for that one too) somehow.
      TL;DR I'm ready to give it a go.

    • @Samwise7RPG
      @Samwise7RPG 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you look up The World of Tekumel on DriveThruRPG, you can find a bunch of PDFs. The hardcopies are pretty expensive now. The main Tekumel website has a lot of information too. If I had an extra of anything I would send you something, but I had to fight tooth and nail to get my collection. hehe. You might be able to pick up the novels The Man of Gold, and Flamesong. There are 3 other novels as well.

      I'm partial to the Swords & Glory sourcebooks, the novels, and Empire of the Petal Throne.

    Very nice, I just discovered Harn recently and I would like to narrate it. I would like videos of Lore and if possible tutorials to understand the rules.

    Excellent example of the charged situations that seem to abound in Harn. The situation in Chybisa seems to be easily intertwined with the looming succession crisis in neighboring Kaldor. It's certainly a Game of Thrones setup if there ever was one.
    Thanks for introducing me to Harn. It really does a great job of as a setting, of presenting looming conflict, poised on the brink, just waiting for PCs to step in and set off the powder keg.
    Very different contrast to some settings where 1. not everything is internally consistent and logical and 2. there are not many actual political hooks and situations to explore, where status quo seems very set in.

      Perhaps-just possibly-the dearth of video or podcast content about Hârn might - at least partially - be owing to the hazard of sticking one’s neck out on matters of pronunciation and other matters of canon

    Can I use D&D 3.5 with this?

    • @The_CGA
      @The_CGA  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Iron Cross certainly. I would recommend the "Iron Heroes" third party supplement from when Mike Mearls worked for Monte Cook. I would also recommend, alternatively, playing from level 1 with a "slow" XP progression (3000 to level 2, I think is how it goes) to preserve the low magic, high lethality feel.
      Above all though, keep in mind there are very few gold pieces in existence on Harn, and most rewards will be in the form of favors or boons.
      For character generation I would say the easiest way to go about it is to have characters be "sucked through a portal" or otherwise shipwrecked from a far off land so that backstory doesn't have to fit perfectly, and the setting can be learned a step at a time for maximum feels and Discovery.

    • @The_CGA
      @The_CGA  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Iron Cross see my comment on the other 'questions' video for some advice on doing so.
      Another good resource in addition to those cited there would be the old "Advanced Players Guide" critical hit charts for 3.5 put out by sword and sorcery studios.

    • @pappabear4977
      @pappabear4977 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      What is the "Iron Heroes" supplement?

    • @pappabear4977
      @pappabear4977 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I really don't want to mess with the rules in D&D too much. What if I used 3.5 without these supplements?

    • @The_CGA
      @The_CGA  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mostly you will need to take a firm hand with the players in terms of Race and Class options, keep it from being too zany or the low fantasy aspect of the setting will be 'blown out,' and the fantastic elements will overshadow the rich huble details. Keep the NPC casters and magic in the wilderness or as big bads. It should work alright.
      The magical and fantasy bits are very awe-inspiing and coveted when the players do come face to face with them. That's part of what's so cool about Harn.
