Well, my rudder cable broke very quickly just like both of my Natives did. When it breaks, it is a real pain because the there are two loose spagetti tubings that slipped inside the side rail. You have to remove the side rail and try to fish the tubing back through the holes with a stiff wire. Not at all fun and seems a bit ridiculous. If yours breaks, try to retain the tubing immediately before it slips through the hole. Native has now gone away from that wrapped steel cable because they always break.

Chris's variety channel it is one of the most affordable pedal driven kayaks. So it is all relative. Some people can not afford $1 but that doesn’t that a cup of coffee can’t be called “affordable”:). This brand also makes some kayaks under $800 that I really like too but not pedal drives unfortunately
At 1800$ that’s not so affordable. It’s so big and heavy you need a trailer. You can get a good jon boat with a 10hp motor and trailer for this price. Keep trying
Catfish Hero “affordable pedal drive”.. in context of course. In the pedal driven kayak market, this is one of the most affordable kayaks. If you compare an 1800 boat with motor and trailer with a brand new 1800 kayak with pedals, I am pretty sure you are comparing apples to oranges anyways. Also, I own this kayak and can load it in my truck myself easily and it can go places that a boat with a trailer and a 10hp outboard can’t go. So if a cheap boat works better for you, then don’t buy this kayak.
Bassquatch Hunter TV yeah I know what you mean man. 1800 is cheaper than most but still very high priced and over priced in my opinion. I have a 14 perception kayak that you have to paddle and this boat is 1200 more than I paid. It’s unreasonable. It doesn’t cost that much more to produce. Reminds me of hd TVs. Expensive at the early stages then affordable 10 yrs later. Another benefit of most kayaks is they don’t require a truck. This would be very difficult to put on a roof. So if you have to have a truck to use and spend 2000$ on it you might as well have a regular boat
Gary65437 it was easy to get dressed that day too but I didn’t feel it necessary to show that part 😉 just messing with ya. I didn’t feel the need to share unloading on camera since I had my enclosed trailer with me as you could see from the beginning. I just slid it out of the trailer and drug it on the skid plate to the water like it was designed to do. It’s only 120lbs and hard plastic. Not like it’s hard to slide it on a hard ground.
$1900 Single person Only. Not much room for other stuff. My Jon boat $1500 14 foot long Carries 4 Adults 1 cooler 4 fishing rods Battery for electric motor Very Very Stable.
I like the kayaks that have the options of a motor (gas & electric). I do fish Erie lake (Ontario as well) 10 km offshore, and that is too much pedaling, and you can't keep constant speed for trolling a down rigger. For that I use a Wavewalk S4 that has a transoM. I do have as motorization 80Lb electric and 2 gas outboards (3.5Hp Tohatsu & 6 Hp Yamaha). Here some idea how it works: wavewalk.com/blog/2018/12/14/big-lake-small-boat-big-fish/ Including the paddle I have all the range and options I need. This kayak is good for small lakes but the range is limited buy the power of your legs. Have fun and be safe.
@@mastermouaable Cool that Johnny 100 but my Wavewalk S4 does the same thing and has more storage and is for more dry trips. In Canada the water is cold. Thank you!
Actually.. I lean over the side to pick up fish very often and even have one of my new episodes were a very large NHL hockey player was in that boat leaning over the side and standing easily in it. Rocking it side to side shows how much force and momentum is needed to even get the sides closer to the water level. As you can see in this video, it takes a lot to get those sides lower and although you can fall out of this, I don’t see anyone flipping this one by simply leaning.
I mean, you can be far from rich and afford 1800. All depends on priorities and ambition. Compared to other pedal drive kayaks out at the time of this video, 1800 is very affordable in comparison.
@@firstlast7099 I mean that is a pretty tough inquiry to dissect.. but I have a minute to try for fun. A better comparison would be a 12’ aluminum welded boat. Which is much more “apples to apples”. Add an adjustable seat and some features with a stable platform to walk around on and a pedal powered prop system and you are looking at closer to a couple thousand dollars. Your comparison of a mass produced big box Chinese bike would be comparing it to the equally priced $200 Chinese made big box kayaks found next to those bikes at wal-mart. Quality costs money. Maybe it is not for you or not in your budget, but a Ferrari is not in my budget nor do I need to try and justify its cost.
@@firstlast7099 for real though, kayaks are definitely more expensive than they used to be but they offer so much on a easily transported platform now. So the cost is high compared to what a recreational kayak is, but for a stable propelled fishing platform, this is fairly inexpensive and among the cheapest priced ones in the market
Alan Pena this is actually one of the least expensive pedal drive fishing kayaks on the market. There are 7 kayaks above the price on this one all the way from 2k-5k. You are correct that $1799 is a lot of money, but this IS a very affordable pedal drive fishing kayak compared to the market.
@@TheBassquatchHunter Yeah and I totally understand that! I just feel like the affordable area for pedal fishing kayaks are just over the price point. In my opinion affordable should range from $1,000-$1,499 but of course it's my opinion and shouldn't revolve around that. I do however see myself buying this Yak over the Compass and be in between the Strike. This is a big boat!
Gio I wish everything in the world was cheaper too, but it does not change the facts that this is an affordable pedal drive kayak compared the every other pedal drive kayak. It’s not an opinion, it is a fact. You can easily buy a $200 kayak if that is more affordable, but for a pedal drive, this is in fact “affordable” in the market.
Bassquatch Hunter TV I not disagreeing with it’s market price relative to other kayaks. My point is that I believe pedal kayaks in general are overpriced. Maybe I’m wrong. But I’d love to see the breakdown on their profits because 2k-5k for a kayak with some pedals seems overpriced
Greg Skrobek it is a kayak. 🤷♂️. kayak - noun kay·ak | \ ˈkī-ˌak \ Definition of kayak : a light narrow boat that has both ends tapered to a point, is propelled by a double-bladed paddle, and often has a closed top except for an opening in which the paddler sits with the legs extended straight out in front: a : a traditional boat that is typically associated with the indigenous peoples (such as the Aleuts and Inuits) of Alaska, Canada, and Greenland, is usually made of a frame of wood or bone covered with animal skin, and is used especially for hunting and transport Similar stone pillars guided Inuit seafarers traveling by umiak or kayak along the complex coasts of their realm. - Fred Bruemmer b : a boat that is based on the traditional kayak and is typically made of plastic or fiberglass and is used especially for recreational purposes Today's recreationists likewise have discovered that, among paddle-powered boats, the kayak has no equal for its graceful combination of lightness, portability, seaworthiness and speed.
Greg Skrobek I was being sarcastic by stating it wasn’t a reply because you said it wasn’t a kayak. It was a reply and it is a kayak. I don’t make the definitions or titles, I just try to catch fish out of them.
I’ll stick with my $700 outlaw. The fish don’t give a sh*t how much my kayak cost. I only use mine when I wanna fish where my center console can’t fit. Plus at $700 I’ll drag up rocks until it breaks, buy another and still save money.
Yeah, the only issue is the stability for a big, old guy with limited mobility. For me, the extra expense is worth it, if it gets me out on the water with stability.
dj skunks the cost? How much is the pelican pedal drive kayak and how do the specs compare? Always make sure you compare apples to apples. Pelican makes some good products, but make sure you compare directly.
This kayak is a big hunk of junk. Steering controller disintegrated on the fourth trip out. Pedal drive is loud and grinds. Seat us way too low on the highest setting so get set to have pedals as high as your chest. The string that raises the rudder is so flimsy I’m afraid to use it because I know it will break. Finally, two cup holders that won’t hold anything. I had it 30 days and Austin Kayak has offered to order another piece of junk controller. I guess I’ll get it fixed and have a fire sale. Stay away from this pile of junk. Stay with the good brands.
David Nix sounds like you had a tough time with it. With thousands of boats out there, you will run into a few that have some defects. I personally have had zero issues with mine with heavy use, but definitely sounds like you got one that needed to be replaced. I will say from experience that 3 waters is a great brand and the office in NC will be happy to replace/fix anything wrong with their products if there are issues. Pretty good company and brand if you ask me, but you got a rough one. Sorry that you had to deal with issues and hopefully you will get her fixed up and be able to enjoy it.

Expensive at the early stages then affordable 10 yrs later. Another benefit of most kayaks is they don’t require a truck. This would be very difficult to put on a roof. So if you have to have a truck to use and spend 2000$ on it you might as well have a regular boat
So easy to load and unload. Yet he doesn't do it on camera.
What’s your height and weight?
That is not in the Florida intercostal water and the Gulf of Mexico
True
I wonder if I can buy a pedal drive for a castaway 100? Lol!
$1900
Single person Only.
Not much room for other stuff.
My Jon boat $1500
14 foot long
Carries 4 Adults
1 cooler
4 fishing rods
Battery for electric motor
Very Very Stable.
Can we buy these in Auatralia
Hervey Bay Rubbish Removal I would check the dealer locator on their website and see to be sure
No you can’t have it in Australia, it’s top secret. Cheers from Cypress California USA
$1800 is affordable? Shit i rather get a used jon boat
No Way for real, I never understood why putting pedals on a kayak automatically raises its price by 1000 dollars
Same here. I guess for many that’s affordable.
Adam Wilson it’s not terrible but it just doesn’t make sense that I can buy an actual motor for less than the cost of a pedal drive
Here some idea how it works:
wavewalk.com/blog/2018/12/14/big-lake-small-boat-big-fish/
Including the paddle I have all the range and options I need.
This kayak is good for small lakes but the range is limited buy the power of your legs.
Have fun and be safe.
Dave Porter; just get a Johnny bass boat 100; if you wait the 12 feet will come out either end of this year or next year.
@@mastermouaable Cool that Johnny 100 but my Wavewalk S4 does the same thing and has more storage and is for more dry trips. In Canada the water is cold. Thank you!
Mantap
That kayak side to side stability test just kills me when they do that ! LOOK IT WONT FLIP, BS !! Sit in that chair and lean over side once
Actually.. I lean over the side to pick up fish very often and even have one of my new episodes were a very large NHL hockey player was in that boat leaning over the side and standing easily in it. Rocking it side to side shows how much force and momentum is needed to even get the sides closer to the water level. As you can see in this video, it takes a lot to get those sides lower and although you can fall out of this, I don’t see anyone flipping this one by simply leaning.
can buy in indonesia?
I guess if you're rich, then 1800-2000 is affordable.
I mean, you can be far from rich and afford 1800. All depends on priorities and ambition. Compared to other pedal drive kayaks out at the time of this video, 1800 is very affordable in comparison.
I cant afford this😩
rethink your life then
@@joey2taps 👍😂
I thought you said it was affordable
For a pedal drive kayak it is. Compared to a McChicken, it is not
@@TheBassquatchHunter Can’t figure out why a welded aluminum frame Schwinn is $200, but a rotomolded plastic kayak is 8 times more..
@@TheBassquatchHunter Thanks
New sub here
Fishing W Cp! Thank you!
Im sold
That is one seat short of a paddle boat
Affordable? lol Riot is affordable.. this is more on the dollar top rank..
Alan Pena you are right in my eyes. Why does it cost near 2k for a “affordable” pedal kayak lmao
Not bad u sold me
This is not a kayak.
Greg Skrobek this is not a reply. 😉
@@TheBassquatchHunter it is a reply. How can you call this thing a kayak?
Greg Skrobek it is a kayak. 🤷♂️.
kayak - noun
kay·ak | \ ˈkī-ˌak \
Definition of kayak
: a light narrow boat that has both ends tapered to a point, is propelled by a double-bladed paddle, and often has a closed top except for an opening in which the paddler sits with the legs extended straight out in front:
a : a traditional boat that is typically associated with the indigenous peoples (such as the Aleuts and Inuits) of Alaska, Canada, and Greenland, is usually made of a frame of wood or bone covered with animal skin, and is used especially for hunting and transport
Similar stone pillars guided Inuit seafarers traveling by umiak or kayak along the complex coasts of their realm.
- Fred Bruemmer
b : a boat that is based on the traditional kayak and is typically made of plastic or fiberglass and is used especially for recreational purposes
Today's recreationists likewise have discovered that, among paddle-powered boats, the kayak has no equal for its graceful combination of lightness, portability, seaworthiness and speed.
It’s a pedal drive for 700?!
Yeah, the only issue is the stability for a big, old guy with limited mobility. For me, the extra expense is worth it, if it gets me out on the water with stability.
Wow....❤

What a joke this is more then a pelican..
dj skunks the cost?
