Very nice boat, but other than the shallow draft, is there any reason to buy one over a Cobalt R5 with a Merc 430 hp stern drive? Can this Yamaha even come close to that in most ways?
These videos are so worthless. He says “let’s see how she drives” and then they cut away. They never show you any driving footage or any driving impressions.
Hi John, For some reason, that part of the video was edited out. If you look at most of the other videos, You'll see I do talk about the handling of the boat. Alan Jones
The old Sea-Doo line of jet boats are better designed, the stern ‘lounge’ on the Yamaha isn’t as big and wonderful as they make out, in reality it only seats 2 people, I would much prefer the massive stern sun pad that the 2012 Sea-Doo 230 Wake Edition had and at least their tower folds down for garage storage unlike the 242X.
The ‘convertible seating’ with removable bow cushions allowing children to sit forward is a gimmick, the children are unsupported with no back rest and while underway it’s uncomfortable, also the cavity for to feet reduce bow storage, what a waste and gimmick.
Pretty useless review, didn’t show all the storage areas, the ballast tanks, no footage of the boat under way with riders being towed, no driving impressions, fuel usage not spoken about and so much more

I notice you guys haven't tested out the Yamaha AR210. Would love to see how those TR-1 engines perform.
Would love it if they created a filler cushion for the cockpit areas to make another sun pad or even a small bed so you can sleep on it.
Nick Cooper you'll have plenty of time to sleep when your Yamaha boat is in the shop
Why would it be in the shop?
It does have filler cushions for the front
What about ballast?
How many gallons it burns in 1 hour?
According to another boat test we saw, at 24 mph it burns 9.3 gph. At wide open, 23 gph.. Alan Jones
I have a 2010. Never needed "breadcrumbs"....
how much ?
Is the boat still available
can this thing be taken out 10 20 miles off shore ?
Although it's really not designed for offshore use, on the right day, sure.
Can you install a super charger and make it go another 20pmh?
It would need two super chargers (twin engines), and at that cost you would be better off buying a different boat from the start.
@@tedschmitt178 thanks Ted. Happy labor day weekend. 🍻

Get a job stupid
Fuck that, take out a loan, everyone does that nowadays!
Ask Bernie, he will get you one.
@@jimwambaugh3243 there is no need to ask Bernie, Trump said that everybody will be so rich. I guess he still working on that.
Go for the 15 year loans that everyone does, hahahaha.

I disagree. I like Yamaha stern area much better than the SeaDoo 230 - It's got an awkward walk thru and useless sunpad area that's uncomfortable.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Yamaha add a flip-up backrest there. They do a good job of tweaking these types of features.
