For the data given below, a) Calculate the runoff coefficient for this storm event, by first separating the base-flow using the log Q - time method. b) Calculate the basin lag time (by finding the time difference between the centroid of the rainfall data and the peak of the surface runoff hydro-graph). TIME (hours) 0 3 6 9 12 15 18 21 24 27 FLOW (cumecs) 5.0 3.0 2.0 5.7 12.1 8.1 5.3 4.0 3.1 2.7 RAINFALL (mm) 0.0 6.0 10.0 9.0 4.0 2.0 0.0 0.0 0.0 0.0
In base flow separation you start a hour zero and find the lowest value. It is assumed that until the hydrograph starts to rise the flow is considered to be base flow.
This is better than the 3rd year hydrology course I pay thousands for. I wish I had found this sooner. Thanks so much..
You saved my assignemnt and exam. Thank you so much!! (Dead Serious)
Your videos are incredibly helpful. Thank you so much!!
Can we just appreciate the handwriting 😍

Good work mam..
Since the time step is 1 hour, shall we multiply the direct runoff by 1 hour?
Excellent and simple :D
If between 3-4 hours there is no rain. How does that affect the calculation?
Why did you multiply the direct runoff by 2 hrs? Could also multiply it by 1 hr?
..also awesome video
yes .. you must multiply by 1 Hr
yes by 1 hr
what base flow method did you used ma'am ?
You have good knowledge
may i know why time isn't in days? or it just wont matter?
how did u get the value of 90 for the 1st hr base flow

Hlo mam..
I didn't understand how did u find that Vdr...
Can u explain more. Plz...
this is a simple area method calculation. the average height x base (triangle figure).
typo should be 1hr
On direct runoff madam, why did you divide by 2, and also why did you multiply by 2hrs each discharge.
@@celinkosixolani7873 i need to know this too
I thought this is a bass lesson
Mam may I know your Email to know more.
