That's a marvel of mechanical engineering. Do you know Gibson's 'Difference Engine'? It imagines that Babbage succeeded with his engines and the Victorians were using vast mechanical computers. They were kept in clean rooms where eating or even smoking wasn't allowed. This is all very beautiful and very cool but I think I'll personally stick to chips in little black packages that are relatively maintenance-free! Seriously, thanks for this explanation. It's amazing to see parallel to serial done mechanically.
Cool isn’t it! It blew my mind when I started thing about it as mechanical logic. It’s quite labor intensive maintenance but very pleasing to fix. I sometimes even find chips quite abstract, but this as concrete as it comes! I will have to check that out thanks for pointing me there. Love the thought experiment of carrying on the alternative timeline of abandoned technologies
Awesome. I expect it’s probably a similar mechanism! In my experience things of this era are built super solidly and just need a good dousing of oil to revive. Let us know how you get on
Such incredible engineering! Thanks for the tour and explanation. 💜 Hack Modular!

You could have been a Trainer at a Training school!
Can't wait for the Reciever mech video!
Very nice of you to say Cliff. Alas the jobs I’m interested in seem not to exist!
Maybe work for a museum 🤔???
I have a teletype type 12 at home in need of repair. This helped me figure out a bit more about how it works :>
