Billy is playing traditional Bluegrass to Sun Ra a legend in the jazz world back in the 50's! I am sure he took lessons from God! Having played almost every style of guitar. Hope the world understands the pure amazing talent we are witnessing! Plus his band are great!

Billy goes though a lot of custom work to get his tone... and i have a stock martin HD 28 plugged in with a fishman matrix infinity internal pickup mic combo with fader nob inside my sound hole aswell as treble bass fade nob. i play a tele as wel and i use my fender deluxe reverb with the martin ...it sounds more natural than billys ever sounds unless miced on stage....the tiny mic inside his sound hole works good though...i think Fishman did more research and development and mine sounds better plugged in just my opinion i know. anyone else think about this or think about his tone ?

Andrew Halliday Music - When I first heard Billy’s live stuff I thought his tone was a bit plastic and thin sounding. But it’s grown on me now. I think he has it that way on purpose. It pays off with his fast picking. His sound is a blend of a bridge pickup and the Audio Technica mic taped onto the sound hole. I admit a well setup HD28 with your amp will probably sound “better” and more natural. He’s got his own ideas and they seem to be working.
