Technically it was a short circuit. WHEN does iecc require the test? After an upgrade? After a new install? Every Annual maintenance check?
A good way to find and seal leaks is using smoke to determine leaks...once leaks are found apply mastic to leaking areas if accessible...most areas to focus on are return connection to plenum and supplies to supply plenum- cans/drywall - tees/ ys connections and the plenums Supply and Return to HVAC system...

Code does not require the checks annually, but it is a good idea to looks for any leaks.
