Rpg reviewers have been doing this "game of the year" shit for the better part of the ladt 4 years and they are always wrong. This one is particularly funny though 😂😂😂
RPG of they year (or at least jrpg) is between Metaphor and FF7 Rebirth nothing even comes close to those two. This will still be another great jrpg to play this year though.
I'm playing the game and finding it way too verbose... so many things don't need text and just get repeating text. When I open a chest, half a dozen messages pop up. When you end a fight you need to see 15 lines of text... The so-called HD-2D is also EXTREMELY BAD: it's lousy 3D with 2D characters... a ridiculous regression when compared to Octopath Traveler 2 or even Star Ocean Second Story R. This HD-2D is terrible. The game itself isn’t bad, but it breaks my heart knowing Square Enix's capabilities and seeing them produce this 3D garbage.
Ahhh that’s a shame, I think both this and Stsr Ocean look beautiful. As for the text, I guess it’s a product of it’s time? Could it be streamlined, probably? But it didn’t bother me too much personally.
@ no, the game is good as far as I played! But its a shame about the visuals when you compare with what the did before… but yeah, the verbose could be something that you can toggle on and off
Oh yeah, glad they went with first person combat to spare us from all those combat animations. /s This us a deal breaker for me and many others. And we don't care that the original DQ games used fp combat. They did that to save money and time; it's 2024, this should be trivial.
It wasn't done to save money or time. It's a tradition that you clearly don't care for, which is fine, but you don't need to lie lol. The majority of Dragon Quest games have first-person combat, only the most recent 3D games do not. This game is not a new 3D mainline title, it's a recreation of a 30 year old game. It's only a dealbreaker because you're probably used to old school FF, but if you tried it you'd probably enjoy it. It's snappy and quicker than most turn-based battle systems.
Just play the original on an emulator. Don't support western censorship of our beloved JRPGs, especially not of Akira Toryama's art. And it's 60$ to boot.
the price is high i get it, but telling people to not buy it and play the original because of censorship is crazy. They remade this from the ground up to give fans what they want, sales are what let them know they are doing something right; especially when considering remakes which are often just reskins of old games on new consoles. There are problems like the first person combat and price but ur take is stupid
@@Manoj-ph3ioso agree with you here. This is a weird hill to die on. But yeah, just don’t buy it. However don’t tell everyone else how to spend their money.

Or just play on Dracky/Easy mode and you can't DIE and once your OVER leveled the Holy Protection spell IF the Thief STILL LEARNS it may remove all random battles for a dungeon as long as its IN effect.
Not with the silly ass censorship, dq3 deserves better
Rpg reviewers have been doing this "game of the year" shit for the better part of the ladt 4 years and they are always wrong. This one is particularly funny though 😂😂😂
It's a conversation point. It's okay to disagree though!
RPG of they year (or at least jrpg) is between Metaphor and FF7 Rebirth nothing even comes close to those two. This will still be another great jrpg to play this year though.
It's been an incredible year for RPGs!
@@GenesisVII Yeah, it really has been.
Rpg of the year? U must have not played metaphor
I've played it, I think it's great!
This us a deal breaker for me and many others. And we don't care that the original DQ games used fp combat. They did that to save money and time; it's 2024, this should be trivial.
I had no issues whatsoever with the first person combat. I get people might have trouble with it though
Is it censored?
Yes. No beastiality and such. Sorry bro, you gotta go elsewhere.
No
Basically the answer is no.
Just play the original on an emulator. Don't support western censorship of our beloved JRPGs, especially not of Akira Toryama's art. And it's 60$ to boot.
Yea
the price is high i get it, but telling people to not buy it and play the original because of censorship is crazy. They remade this from the ground up to give fans what they want, sales are what let them know they are doing something right; especially when considering remakes which are often just reskins of old games on new consoles. There are problems like the first person combat and price but ur take is stupid
Meh, I don’t care what a woman is covered or not covered with in this game, I just want an old school 60ish hour RPG classic with new graphics.
@@Manoj-ph3ioso agree with you here. This is a weird hill to die on. But yeah, just don’t buy it. However don’t tell everyone else how to spend their money.
Gamers got weird they cry and cry about the weirdest stuff. The game was censored when it hit western shore back in the 90s, Just like it remains. WTF are you slinging snot about? Can't see 8-bit cleavage for real, Are you a Man?
The world map looks empty and bland a.f.
Fair enough, I think it’s beautiful and I’m still discovering stuff
With games like Final Fantasy Rebirth and Metaphor I doubt it could hold candle to them let alone be RPG of the year, but I’m not saying this is a bad game. I’m 5 hrs in and am loving the cute graphics and the late 80s early 90’s JRPG vibe. I think it’s a solid game but sadly there is better.
For sure, it's a stacked year!
