I would've loved for Diane to have played the Super Match just one time. Oh the hilarity. LOL. One of the greatest game show contestants ever. I wonder what her life is like now.
Gene: There's one answer and here comes another one. Brett: Here it comes folks, this is the biggie! A bean! Gene: A coffee bean. (Buzzer sounds). Brett: Oh, take your buzzer and put it in the beans! (old squeeze bulb horn sounds).
Well, she practically was. And I love her, but who are you going to take out? Betty White? Marcia Wallace? Or even dizzy Joyce Bulifant? I like the rotating cast in that chair, they're all fantastic.
You know there’s a channel on TH-cam called “what’s my line” with all the episodes of the original series with John Daly on there for free available. That channel is as entertaining as this one. 🤟🏻
I really miss Meredith McRae she was great on petticoat Junction n her mom Shelia was on I love Lucy once the fashion show episode I can see they were both beautiful women
The show is at its best with all the innuendo made possible by the restrictions of the 70s. Now a days, once everything can be said, there's nothing clever to laugh at.
Tracker66 This one got a bit too sexual at times, especially Richard. As a kid, I didn’t understand all his “loving” references, especially when it came to animals and inanimate objects. And I doubt they would get by with “boobies” nowadays because of the militant feminists today. However, I haven’t nor will I watch the most recent Match Game to see what vulgarity the previous commenter is referring to.
@@ShortyGirl63 Out of curiosity, I watched the one with Baldwin hosting for five minutes and never returned to it, I don't even know if it's still on. I later found an article about it from 2017 by reporter Matt Webb Mitovich from TVLine which quoted a sitcom vet Wendie Malick( in part) “They have pretty much anything you want,” Malick said. “And they encourage you to drink, heavily. That’s the secret to this show’s success.” of course I don't know how much this is true. The article is at tvline.com/2017/04/30/match-game-burning-questions-answered/. @@ShortyGirl63 The show was racy by the standards of the 1970s, but that was what made it work and why it was successful. In the midst of the sexual revolution, this show was a breath of fresh air. Richard was ideal for the show--sly and witty, sexy but not vulgar. He was a master of the double entendre and had that poker face that enabled him to say outrageous things and get away with it.
On an earlier episode, Richard lengthened it before Gene entered. Gene laughed and said he didn't know it telescoped. I suspect since then he just liked to play with the length.
Somewhere I read that he liked the longer extended mic because he didn't have to hold his arms so high in the air when he used it. His arms didn't get so tired as when he had to hold it higher like in MG74. He could put his hand in his pocket and still have the mic close this his mouth.. Was that in one of the books or here that I read that now..

Sorry I just want to know when they edited something that was good.. ROFL!! Another good episode, love the interaction between GR and RD, missed it.
That Kit Carson question was brutal. What were the writers looking for there? He built his gun from a kit? Is that funny? I don't get it. But I wonder, SNL was in its first season, did some of the best writers defect?

I remember the Folgers coffee commercials, featuring Juan Valdez and his burro...
"Margaret Hamilton" would have been a good answer in another year or so, when she started doing the Maxwell House commercials.
Me too. Good marketing.

Fannie's "karate judo" joke was a reference to Katy Jurado - who was, in fact, Ernest Borgnine's _second_ wife, but never mind...
I thought I was so clever figuring that out (I had to look it up) and look at you! You beat me to it! Well done.
Thanks for explaining the joke.🤣
Fannie should have been a regular.
She could've taken Brett's place. Brett could've been a fill in every 6 months.

She was on for quite a while though. More than the average panelist anyway.

My two favorite game shows, WML and MG.
I'm 48 and I watched "What's My Line" for the first time 2 yeas ago. I just finished it a few month ago
Faye Dunaway was married to J Geils band frontman Peter Wolf at the time this show aired
Fanny's sweater....
Diane is an adorable doll, I hope she kept up her Looks throughout all these years! I used to be really sweet like that and really dumb like that.
Bee keeper made me think of "Fried Green Tomatoes," Fanny's later book, but I think the expression was "Bee charmer" in the book.
I really miss Meredith McRae she was great on petticoat Junction n her mom Shelia was on I love Lucy once the fashion show episode I can see they were both beautiful women
It's sad that the new show is hosted by Alec Baldwin & a lot of the questions, answers, host & celebrities are vulgar.
unfortunately, vulgarity is what passes for "humor" these days....
I wouldn't watch that new match game for any amount of money. Can't stand Baldwin and I knew it would be nothing like the original.
Harley Lover , I think Alec was a Horrible choice . The Fake laughs from the panel is what gets me . 👍✌

Meredith and Richard were right with "gun".

She reminded me so much of "Rachel Green" from Friends (even more than Jennifer Aniston who played her).

Diane cracked me up!
Diane was such a cool girl. Would have loved to gone out with her !!!!

Tom Bosley is a very good player and he’s animated too!
