Hugo Blog Tutorial: Setting up a custom theme

In this tutorial we'll start creating our own custom theme for our Hugo blog and we'll see how to use the Hugo CLI to create a skeleton theme and then use some of Hugo's templating features to display some posts on our home page along with linking some custom CSS to our site.

Hi, amazing tutorial. I already have layout folder associated with default theme outside of this newly created theme. When I create a custom theme, I expect Hugo pick up styles and baseof.html etc. files from inside of themes/ folder. However, it defaults to default theme. How can I fix it? I am a Hugo noob.
