Let me tell u a fact: the universe is expanding and this discovery is a recent one. But there is already a verse in quran which says, the universe is expanding. Way before this discovery, it was already mentioned in the quran.
Nope, the Quran doesn't describe the expansion of the universe. It says "heavens are expanding", which could mean anything. If Earths atmosphere would get thicker, Muslims would say "yeah, heavens expanding, that's what my book clearly says". If Earth would getting bigger, Muslims would say "yeah, Earth is bigger, more surface, more sky, heavens expanding, it's clear". That's what theists do all the time. They look at what scientists find out, and then either they deny it (like evolution) or re-interpret their holy texts, pretending that those said it first. But if the Quran would have accurately described the expansion of the universe, then Muslims would have created that theory based on the Quran, instead of other scientists having based the theory on astronomical observation. If God would exist, he could have described the expansion of the universe in absolute detail, with the speed and cause and evidence for it and so on. God could have also described bacteria and viruses in the Quran, or how to cure cancer. But nothing is found in the Quran that people couldn't have also known without a deity telling them that.
