  • This video will describe how to build a simple flip-flop circuit to toggle a LED on and off. The same circuit will also be implemented on a CPLD.

    I'm an old school RF tech and wanted to see what FPGA's and PLD's could be used for. Every time I looked on line for the basics it was pretty generic and vague. This one short video explained what a CPLD could be used for and how to get it. Great video.

    so is a CPLD like a less complex FPGA? FPGAs are getting cheap these days and im wondering at what point is it cheaper to get an FPGA (even tho it might be over kill) rather than a CPLD? Ive also noticed that there is more software support for FPGAS as well.

      At here CPLD 4,8$ , FPGA 12$

      CPLD as first step to FPGA

      Also As I Remember, FPGAs are RAM based Devices and they need a Separate (some have Inbuilt) Flash Configuration Memory Chop so they can Reconfigure themsleves whenever they powerup. CPLDs are EEPROM or CMOS Flash Based Instead

      @@prathamkalgutkar7538 that's nice to know. So a cpld would make better glue logic than an FPGA because it can hold its configuration after power down. Thanks.

    This is a very nice video explaining cplds to somebody, who does not know, yet. I have not learned VHDL, yet, but I have used (Altera‘s) AHDL and also the schematic entry since 1997. I definitely want to get into it (VHDL) again.

    Good explanation and Tutorial on CPLDs....
    I can see using this CPLD to test Logic Gate circuit designs before a final design to PCB.

    Programming an Arduino seems easier from what i have asked, than programming a cpld. But the cpld has more pins apparently. How hard is to learn to program a cpld

    Do I need to connect power source in order to program CPLD, if I have USB blaster ?

    • @0033mer
      @0033mer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The CPLD board has to be powered when programming with the USB blaster connected.

    • @richardmortimer2019
      @richardmortimer2019 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes, there is a barrel connector cor connecting a power supply. The 240 has an onboard regulator giving you flexibility in the power supply you can use.
