Caldwell wasn't great, but no coach can win if they are Coaching the Lions with Stafford as quarterback. With all of the good and great receivers and TEs this team has had over 11 years, the one common factor has been Stafford.

As a 45 year old man I got hooked early, Barry Sanders kept my hopes up, At least I got to see some magic every Sunday. I said before S.F game Stafford needs to win a game by himself. He missed so many throws Sunday. I lived in Dallas for 8 years(2008-15). I got to enjoy maybe the best Lions game in Dallas 2011 comeback with my son. That was a special game, unfortunately my father passed away this summer never to see the Lions win another playoff game. I wish I could be done with the team, I know I don't care as much as I used to. I have went to see the Lions in away games which I do enjoy. I haven't been to a home game in sometime. Lions are killing us fans and not sure if they will ever win. 2 season with Rodgers hurt and can't take advantage. Waste Barrys Sanders career, Calvin and now Stafford. Why didn't the Lions try to get Mack? Gordon? UGH!!!

Sunday I will listen on the radio when I work in my garden but when the Pats go up by 21 because Brady is going to play angry after Sundays game vs the jags. I used to get angry on a weekly basis, then I tried Fantasy football which did ease the pain as i won it all a couple of times, but I refuse to expose myself to that kind of torture any longer. When everyone in my house, 35-50,000 people in the stands, both the commentators and who knows how many viewers know exactly what the lions are calling ..lets say 3rd and long..🤔 hmm, dump pass?..aaand they punt..sorry this team has no hope. In my opinion as long as it says FORD on the stadium this franchise only has one agenda. Money.

When I watched with my son I predicted much about the game: failed comeback, penalties, interceptions etc. He kept saying "wow, just like you said." I told him its because I've seen it before. He likes the Sea Chickens and I like the Minnesota ef-ings.

Matthew Stafford has got to be the greatest inconsistent quarterback ever I can't wait form the Ford family to get rid of him. And then after the shity performance they just come out all smiles paychecks in hand while the he fans are in the hospitals with ulcers, suffering heart attacks and probably going to be diagnosed with severe depression after every season. I got a divorce from the Lions 3 years ago and it was the best thing I've ever done for my health. I'm not going to lie, it was hard to break away, but it was worth it. They STINK!!!!

Me and Mike are the same age and I feel like somedays he is my inner voice lol.
Every game, it's always something. One week he's throwing multiple interceptions. The next week he can't hit a deep ball to save his life. The next week he can't stay upright. The next week he develops a fumbling problem. And every week the sycophants are all "bUt If wE OnLy FiXed ThaT oNe pRobLEM StaFforD WouLd bE GreAt!" Guess what? Every problem we've ever had with Stafford has been "fixed" at one point, only to have him regress. And that's his problem. Stafford is eternally one problem away from winning in the post season, but the problem always changes.
The last decade with Stafford has been a game of QB Development Whack-A-Mole. You fix his interception problem, he loses accuracy. You fix his accuracy issues, he starts fumbling. You fix the fumbling problem, he's right back to throwing INTs again. And the cycle just goes on and on and on. He looks great on paper because most of those numbers come late in the game when the opposing defense is gassed and we're multiple scores behind. Every stinking game we win almost Stafford comes out stinking for three quarters and playing like a rock star in the fourth.
For the last ten years now, if you ever watch other teams and you look at Stafford it's abundantly clear there's something wrong with him. And he's gotten away with it for so long because he can pad those stats to where he looks way better on paper than he does out in the field, and he never has the same problem for more than one or two weeks in a row, so you can't pin him down on any one thing. A good Quarterback can connect with his receivers in the first Quarter and not routinely get down by three scores before finally deciding to start working hard and playing competently.
And yes, the best Quarterbacks also, occassionally, get behind by multiple scores and have to come back. The best Quarterbacks have started games slow. But those Quarterbacks have earned the benefit of the doubt and Stafford hasn't. Because Stafford never starts well. Ever. You'd probably have to go back 5 years to find a game where you could really say he came out strong and played four Quarters of football. Aaron Rodgers doesn't always start slow. Tom Brady doesn't always start slow.
Blame the playcalling and blame Cooter all you want but Stafford has had every advantage and every tool in the shed to work with and he still hasn't gotten it done. He's had:
Calvin Johnson, the best Wide Receiver in modern NFL history, for multiple seasons.
A top tier Defense in 2014.
A competent run game.
Multiple coaching staffs. Multiple offensive coordinators. Multiple QB coaches. Multiple approaches. Multiple philosophies. A team ownership change. A completely new front office. All dedicated to "fixing" him.
Younger, less experienced Quarterbacks than him have done more with less. Eli Manning won two Super Bowls without Calvin Johnson, Ndamukong Suh, and Reggie Bush. Blake Bortles and Brock Osweiler have three playoff wins between them without all of those advantages. We've been promised Stafford's break-out season for the last decade now, and every year it's the same pile of garbage with a cherry on top. And every year we eat that garbage and the happy slappys will only want to talk about how good that cherry was! We've given him good receivers. We've given him good defenses. We've given him good rushers. Despite all of that, he's still "held back" according to the Pollyannas and Happy Slappy fans. He's had way, way more than enough time to prove himself, and he hasn't. He's had way, way more than enough tools to work with, and we still have no playoff wins. Because Stafford chokes in playoff games. We could make the playoffs every year and we'd still have no wins because Stafford would just throw 5 interceptions, or fumble a lot, or fail to hit receivers, or SOMETHING to make us go one and done every time.
You know that guy who bought a crappy old used boat and has been swearing for the last ten years he's going to fix up and make awesome, but in reality it's been a decade-long money pit for him that just sits on his front lawn being an eyesore, one thing breaking after another, but he refuses to get rid of it because of all of it's "potential?" Matthew Stafford is that boat. We need to get comfortable with the idea that we're never going to fix up this boat. A good Quarterback doesn't skate a decade through the NFL on "promise" and "potential."
The Detroit Lions will finish 4th in the NFC North. Martha Firestone Ford loves seeing fans at Ford Field. It’s money in the Ford’s family pocket.
I agree with Stafford on paper yesterday. However, I dont agree that it was his career in a nutshell. Wasnt great yesterday, if he hits 2 of those throws, games over easily.

He’s right about Stafford. A good QB with that much money paid, would make at the very least one of those free TD throws that Stafford missed by a mile. Hell...Rodgers made those throws on one leg against a fierce Bears’ defense. Stafford was put into a situation where he could finally prove himself and he failed again.
As a 31 year-old former Browns fan no fanbase in any sport has it worst than me. Hell there was a time when i thought it was illegal for the browns to trow a forward pass it was so bad. So now on Sundays I just read Manga and try new food recipes( very therapeutic ) At least I have my Buckeyes, besides college football has always been superior to NFL any day.

So the Lions will get it together beat the Pats,GB and Dallas to finally prove they are a real NFL contender once they bench Stafford. This will not happen since Fords will not allow all that money to sit on the bench. Maybe his backup can make just one of those deep throws.Receivers have to have a problem with Stafford when they are doing there job getting open deep and the million dollar man cannot get them the ball. Any other QB in the NFL would have made a least one of those throws and the elite maybe half of them. Shows Stafford is just a below average QB and all of his numbers are from having great receivers and a million passing attempts out of desperation from falling behind so much. Not much of a winning record against good NFL teams at all. What does that say ? Overpaid underachiever after 10 years and still no playoff wins. What does that say? .It is all showcasing to sell tickets and merchandise from a team with a real losing record in the playoffs where it really matters.
