FYI - More formal coat with the suit-style lapel is a topcoat, and coats with a wider lapel, and more casual (for instance military style coats) are overcoats.
Great video guys, might I suggest pulling the model mannequin forward to show it off or to the side and walk over to it. It's pretty hidden behind the table. That way you guys can help illustrate how to wear it. Keep it classy guys great stuff! ✌
Nice video. How about trench coats for men? Local stores don't carry them, or much in general that would appeal to adults. I would prefer an olive knee/thigh length coat.
That newt scamander teal coat tho. Also in my experience the sizing is very dependent on the brand. Some make a size 40 to fit properly over a size 40 suit, others make a size 42 to fit over a size 40 suit.
As long as its cut slightly above the knee you'll be fine. When it starts to fall at the knee or below is when you'll start to look shorter no matter your height.

Do the same rules for suit jackets apply to overcoats? Two buttons, only top; three buttons, only top two? Also, IS the popped collar a thing to or is that just a preference?
For style purposes yes the button rule applies. For weather purposes, if its cold button up. The popped collar is just a preference. Personally, I think it makes it look more casual so it works well with dress down looks. I wouldn't walk into a business meeting like that. -G
@@gentslounge both go over a brief origin, talk about form compared to function, go over different materials and and price points and ways to style. Also maybe a comparison to different shirts for winter like heavy Oxfords or denim and how you use flannels in layering and they're role as statements and in relation to other elements of winter wardrobe. Just an idea. - James
Blake, how the heck do you get that camel coat to fit over a suit and not look constricting but at the same time wear it casually and it doesn’t look big/baggy??
Meanwhile I got quite a big range of Coats and jackets but I‘m still missing a single breasted camel overcoat. Do you have any recommendations for the lower price range? But actually more important than the price should be a slim fit.
My favorite look with an over coat is definitely under the hoodie and jeans combination.
