Being a kid in the 80's riding around with your brother in his suped up 79 camaro rockin out to this song along with motley crue and quiet riot. I thought it was so cool that my big brother would let me hang out with him and his friends. The only reason they brought me along though was when they would go to the skating rink, which were popular hangouts in the 80s, so they could have me skate over to girls they wanted to hook up with and repeat pickup lines to them that my brother and his friends would teach me. I guess they had figured out having a cute little kid come up and say some cheesy lines to a group of girls worked like magic. Of course I got taken home and ditched once the mission was accomplished. But i didnt care. I was getting to hang out with highschool kids and get attention from girls. LOL. That memory always pops in my head when i hear this song or Quiet Riot's song Metal Health (bang your head)

For me, a teen in the Midwest US in the early 80s, their big breakout album was 1982's Blackout. That song was on the radio every hour for a month. This song comes from the follow up album Love at First Sting and that blew up even bigger. From it came their biggest hits. This song, Rock You Like a Hurricane and Big City Nights. I'd throw in Bad Boys Running Wild and Coming Home. My favorite song though is from a few albums before this and that's The Zoo. It wasn't the album recording that made me love though. It is on their live album World Wide Live, I saw that tour, and it's just so cool with the talk box and all.

I don’t remember what they taught us was the longest US river… that was almost 40 years ago 😩 But apparently the Missouri River is only 1 mile longer than the Mississippi 🤷🏻‍♀️
Regarding the wig controversy 😆… I feel that any band they played on Headbangers Ball is wig-worthy. And they played the Scorpions on Headbangers Ball

great rock ballad of all time. This one and Faithfully of Journey
Sadly you listened to the shortened radio edit version. You lost out on about a 90 seconds of guitar greatness.
For a couple other vibes for your jive of their slower stuff: "Holiday" "No One Like You" "Loving you Sunday Monday" "Smoke is Going Down" "Believe In Love"

Could be argued that they were part of the NWOBHM even though they're German...they toured and rose to fame with all those bands...I remember this song was a staple at awkward middle school dances lol

This version is Okay but yall need to Lesson to the actual long version and Lesson to the guitar. The solo is amazing. And yes I cried to it. The guitarist is amazing.

I don't think of a girl when I hear this song. I was a kid when it came out. Being German, my boys and I were so damn proud of this band. We all bought guitars and a guitar instruction book called "Learn How to Play Like the Scorpions."
This song is literally the first song I ever tried to play on guitar. Here's the thing: my guitar had a whammy bar and we didn't know how to use it. Back when there was no internet, we had to figure it out ourselves. So the image that comes to mind when I hear this song is: three young men hunched over the same guitar for hours trying to "make the whammy bar whammy." We didn't figure it out, but we thought we were pretty close. So I went back to the music store and asked. "We have an idea, but..." The salesman started grinning. He called his colleague from behind and then said, "Show me." These two guys literally peed their pants laughing when they saw me "whamming"! If mobile phones and the Internet had existed, the film would have been a huge hit on TH-cam!
