I'm a rideshare driver in Kalamazoo, MI. During the Presidential campaign of 2020, I was amazed by the number of my Black riders who opened up to me about their support of DJT. They would get in the privacy of my car, with an "old White guy" and feel safe voicing their support for DJT. I believe this happened because they could not voice their thoughts among family, friends, and the Black community.

I now understand why when I was young and asked someone in my family who they voted for they wouldn't tell me. My mom & dad and my grandma & grandad wouldn't even tell each other who they voted for. They always told me you should never tell anyone. My mom & dad use to try to get it out of each other, but that was TOP SECRET. Now I know why they told no one. They always just told me when I got old enough to vote to vote for who's policies I liked best. 👍 maybe parents should teach their kids to be free to vote with their beliefs.
